Heh, yep, join the club! šŸ˜› Although, I’ve been tired of that for a while, to be honest. But usually, I just ignore comments like that and not let it get to me, since I can completely understand why people would want to see that. I’ve been there myself, and as I’ve said before (I think), if I wasn’t taking my faith seriously (and restraining my fleshly desires), I would probably still be shipping female couples delightedly.

For myself, when I used to ship females, I had a 2-fold reasoning (which I’m sure is the same for a lot of other people):
  1. There was something extremely… er… sexual/gratifying, I guess, about seeing female couples together. Not males, though…
  2. I wanted to see them happy! And unfortunately, back then, my perception of ultimate happiness was to see 2 humans together ā€œin loveā€, w/out it even mattering if they’re the same gender, though preferably opposite.
Well, at least it makes some sort of sense when people out there ship characters that have had some sort of romantic undertones to their relationship, whether it’s a heterosexual or homosexual couple. Not saying I agree with shipping yaoi or Yuri couplings, I don’t of course, but it at least makes sense on some level. It’s making every remotely friendly relationship into a potential romantic pairing that bothers me in this specific case. Can’t we just have people be friends? šŸ˜›

Love, Chunibyo and Other Delusions is coming out on Bluray. May 27.
Link.
$36, which is a pretty good price for 325 minutes of Rikka-chan. šŸ™‚

I would just like to note that I am becoming disgusted with how characters of the same sex cannot apparently just be friends anymore in anime. Even in shows where there are no real yuri undertones, the fanbases will ship the two close friends anyways.

Chu2koi is one example, and this week’s episode focusing on Shinka and Dekomori brings it to the front. I don’t get any yuri undertones from their interactions. If they exist they are very subtle or ambiguous. Nevertheless, there are plenty of people saying ā€œI can’t see Nibutani and Dekomori as anything but a couple. They need to get together NOW!ā€ or some variation–all because they appear to have some kind of friendship beneath all the efforts to annoy each other and know how to push each other’s buttons (as the expression goes). Why can’t they just be friends?

Why can’t two guys or two girls in a show with no yuri undertones (talking about anime in general here) be just friends? That’s the way it’s been in my life. Is it that impossible for people to imagine friendly relationships with no sexual or romantic aspects between any two people, whether it’s two people of the same or different sexes?
I saw the episode too. I didn’t see any yuri either, only admiration to a respected figure.

Is like these people don’t value friendships, or think the only worthy relationships are romantic ones.

I guess another element in these types of shipping, is the loneliness of the viewer, or other problems. There are certain patterns in these types of fans.

I’ve only seen a dozen or so (if that) anime shows in my time, and a smattering of movies, but I finished watching Neon Evangelion Genesis a couple of weeks ago, and wow. I finally get the hype. And those final episodes were amazing, and incredibly moving too, I thought.

U seem to be underestimating the power of anime! 😃 I think Rule #100 covers this:

Rule #100 - Law of Anime Events - Much like wrestling, anything and everything can happen.

Source: 100 Rules of Anime šŸ˜› ~ some of these rules are just… :rotfl:
True. Perhaps I shouldn’t dismiss the possibility so readily. 😃

Glad you liked it! I’ve posted about my feelings on Evangelion before, but suffice it to say I have a love-hate relationship with the show. It was my first ā€œrealā€ anime (ie my first one that I didn’t see through 4Kids entertainment), so it holds a special place in my heart because of that. šŸ™‚

Speaking of shows that give me conflicted feelings: I started watching Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood today. I don’t know why I decided this was a good idea. It meant getting hit with Nina & Alexander feels all over again. :crying:

I liked it a lot, too, but also didn’t like it; More specifically, the ending bothered me quite a bit. Although, I think I can say that with a lot of shows, lol. The intro song, too, is probably the most recognizable anime song in the history of anime intros! It’s very nostalgic for me to hear it. ^.^

Also, I noticed that u just registered yesterday! šŸ™‚ Welcome to the forums! We’re glad to have u here, and I’ll try not to scare u off! 😃

P.S. Eren would like to greet u, too! XD

lol thanks, Suko šŸ™‚

The ending was very interesting. It was certainly quite daring. The image of Shinji floating in that white void and then being gradually exposed to the constraints of form, in which he found actually the means to express his freedom, has stuck with me, and reflects some other ideas that have been in my head for a little while about the nature of the esoteric and its relation to the exoteric.

I might watch the Evangelion movies in the future.

Shinka > Rikka.
Absurd nonsense. Who is this Shinka? The blonde one or the one with the useless hair pin?

Rikka > all. I think Rikka is in Iori Minase/Taiga/etc category. Without these charas I’d drop anime watching yesterday. šŸ™‚

Chu2 on BD for $36 is really a good deal. Consider that not every studio does that. Where is a Certain Magical Railgun on BD? Well it does not exist. Where is Gosick on BD? Neither. I preordered of course.

Saying this, today I got my Gosick DVD set from Australia. All episodes on a 4 DVD set. If you American and other peeps want Gosick on DVD, EzyDvD is the place. The price wasn’t bad either. For non-Aussies they deduct AUS tax, and the price is even cheaper.

Welcome to the forum. Please stop inquiring into Catholicism and just jump in. šŸ™‚

Which anime have u seen and what do you like about anime shows?

perhaps we can offer you some recommendations … or you could offer us some.

Thanks.

Well, Chuunibyou seems to be popular and I can see why, It’s just awesome. Of course for Anime, here are my preferences,
1)Nagi no Asukara
2)Space Dandy(The show’s just awesome, its like Johnny Bravo in Space meets anime and Adventure Time, highly recommended)
3)Golden Time
4)Tonari no Seki-Kun
5)Jinrui Wa suitai Shimashita
6)Date A Live
7)Shin Sekai Yori
8)Blue Exorcist
9)Little Witch Academia
10)Ika Mursurme
11)Shingeki No Kyojin
12)Coppelion
13)Kill La Kill(If you can digest the outfits)

I was checking the Tonari no Seki-kun manga, and the protagonist uses a ouija board in one chapter, what a shame, that series was very interesting.

That doesn’t sound like a reason to drop it to me, but I’m hard surprised that a society that views various religious, spiritual, and supernatural stuff with a sense of novelty would toss a Ouija board in the mix of stuff he does.

Also, is the manga licensed? I might check it out if it is.

Anyone watch Mushi-shi?

It took me about 7 episodes before I finally accepted the show on its own terms… After that it became one of my favorite shows ever.

It’s truly a work of art… and very mature in its writing while not at all ā€œmatureā€ (read: vulgar) in its content.

I describe it as a combination of ā€œInto great silenceā€ and ā€œthe twilight zoneā€

Season 2 begins soon.😃

I’ve seen the first three episodes, they were quite pleasant. I should really finish it, it seems like the kind of thing I’d love. I didn’t know there was going to be a second season.

So I was just browsing around, and I found some realistic photos done I believe in photoshop by the same talented artist (jxbp). The photos really blew my mind when I saw them. Just awesome!

Misaka Mikoto (from A Certain Magical Index/A Certain Scientific Railgun):

I do think her fingers look a little… odd, though. But still fantastic, nonetheless; the hair especially! :yup:

It’s not too shabby. But that’s not Biri Biri. That’s a cosplayer. šŸ˜‰

Been a while since this thread has seen some action!

I have to admit, I’m enjoying Witch Craft Works this season. It’s not my favorite show, but it sure has some funny characters. It needs more Tanpopo-chan!

The other shows I’m keeping up with are (no order) D-frag, Hamatora, Hozuki no Reitetsu, Chu2Koi Ren, and Zvezda. I do want to catch up on Noragami at some point. I really did enjoy the first few episodes. I just list track of it along the way. Might also want to pick Nisekoi back up.
