Speaking of which, just last week I’ve learned about the difference between how the Japanese use CGI with Western animation’s use of it.
I think even Hayao Miezaki has used some CGI to augment the hand-drawn animation in some of his movies (Spirited Away?).

I know it was used in Howl’s Moving Castle. I could tell. I disliked it.

I’m not here to get anyone to DISlike CGI if you already do. Just stating my opinion.

Sure. And it’s an opinion I’m partial to, since I also never got used to the blocky, unnatural look of CGI as exemplified by “Toy Story”.

I almost feel bad for people who grew up in an era when that style was considered ‘normal.’

Still, Howl is probably my favorite Miezaki movie.

I was lucky enough to see it in a theater, subtitled. 😃
“What a tacky little hat shop.”

Did you see “The Wind Rises”? I started a thread about it but no one was much interested to contribute, and/or no one had seen the movie.

Need to see it first. Must wait for DVD/Bluray. 🙂

Cannot STAND CGI.

Oh well. I must be true to the old ways, and die with them if needs must.
CGI. I always confuse this with the internet web based CGI script stuff.

Computer Graphics… I is for … ??? Interactive?

Too lazy to Google. Soz. 🙂

Don’t personally care for the newer style, which seems almost neurasthenic. But that’s probably just me.
The recent style in that graphic is not exclusive though. And while the more ragged style is gone, not all anime have the “Oreimo” look. Look at ummm The Coffin Princess for one, it’s different to this one. BTW Ep 4 introduces a new character to that series…

Still eyebrow girl kicks butt. Chaika go! Do your best! And such other …

Ok, episode 4 of Chaika has a bathing scene.

There is no nudity shown, even from the profile. There’s no convenient censoring or even steam. I guess the uncut version if there is one could add new frames, but there is no fanservice, unless fanservice is a girl’s head and upper shoulders popping up from the edge of a medieval bath. As there is an edge, there is nothing to remove, such as steam.

Example: (fair use)
Chaika, aka eyebrow girl:

The girl who joins her to wash her hair, is also wearing a towel. (fair use) There’s no yuri guys. She washes her hair while in the towel, while Chaika is in water to the shoulders.

So overall I’m very pleased with this.

And now, apropos of nothing, my Impossible Anime Wish List:
  1. The Patty Fairfield series in its entirety, animated by Studio Ghibli. Ten points to anyone who actually heard of Patty Fairfield.
  2. LOTR, ditto. Except no points because you’ve all heard of it.
  3. The Return of Yuu Yuu Hakusho, original voice cast, in a series of stand-alone adventures in which the Spirit Detectives actually DETECT: ie: solve mysteries, one per ep.

Computer Generated Images, maybe?
OK. Just funny how it’s so close to CGI (Common Gateway Interface) scripting. Images = but this is mostly about video. I know, I know, each frame is an image. 🙂

If you ask me, I think the whole CGI movement underestimates the distinct value of detail in 2D imagery. I say this not just as an anime nut but as someone who prefers 2D sprites in games over 3D graphics half the time.

Well since nobody else is bumping this thread, I might as well. I’ve found a couple new (and ongoing) series to throw in along with my Little Busters catch-up. Both were recommended by a friend. One’s another romance comedy but it’s name escapes me right now and the other one’s Escha & Logy no Atelier.

I’m a little disappointed that it’s one of those RPG adaptations but I do have a special place in my heart for the Atelier series. I’ve played a couple myself (Atelier Iris 2: Azoth of Destiny and Mana Khemia). Out of all the J-RPGs I’ve played, this franchise captures the classic look and feel of the anime fantasy genre. For me, my anime marathons feel a little more satisfying when I’ve got my fantasy fix and few have done it so well as Atelier.

Oh yeah and I’m still watching the latest episode of the new Cardfight Vanguard season. Given that the second season of SAO is just a couple months away, I’m finally gonna have a full watchlist again. 😃

Going to give this a bump because we’ve got a current season winding down and a new one about to begin.

This season, I’ve been watching and trying to consistently keep up with Hitsugime no Chaika, No Game No Life, Date a Live, Kawaisou, Nanana, and Baby Steps.

Chaika and Nanana are my favorites this season. Both are worth looks. Really liking Chaika’s story, and the main team is a lot of fun to watch. Nanana is a flawed show, but the adventures are fun to watch and Tensai is awesome. NGNL is a bit of a fanservice show, but it keeps a good story running most of the time. Date a Live II isn’t as good as season one, but it still manages to tell a fairly fun story while keeping the fanservice to a relative minimum. Kawaisou has a lot of fun character interactions, and it has some good comedy and romantic development. The characters really carry the show well. Baby Steps is a fairly straightforward sports (tennis) anime, but the characters are strong. It’s got some good comedy, too, with no fanservice.

This summer, I’m not really looking forward to much beyond the new Sailor Moon and Persona 4 anime along with continuing Baby Steps.

How have you guys been?

Enjoy your shows. I’ve come to realize that modern stuff really isn’t to my taste. The ‘newest’ show I watched and liked was Princess Tutu.

Mayyyybe Baby Steps, if I like the character design, as I got sick of Prince of Tennis, yet enjoy sports settings.

8D …watching this trailer youtube.com/watch?v=z1eWFelQzd0

days after having watched this youtube.com/watch?v=A0UBbzeFc74

which seems sooo compensatory for the slow-ish and kinda unpolished season 2 u

This 27th,Book 3 begins to open 😃 !.

I admit, that I might not finish Trigun in the foreseeable future if at all…😃 but I still don’t wanna miss out on a current show like “the legend of Korra”.

Someone finally thought to be big on airbenders this time around.

Sorry if this news is old hat to ya guys :D.

For any one wanting this to be like the original series,1 season=1 new bending technique learned, they can still add in lightning and metal bending I suppose,if they wanna go that way
