this doesn’t warrant a valid response

and if you can’t figure out why…

Again… something that would require an appropriate response… apparently distracted prefers to insinuate an insult.

I for one am very grateful to you for sharing your perspective on this topic. I would like to assure you that all Americans do not agree with the ugliness that Ann Coulter puts out, and many of us also find no humor in it either… I believe the level of discourse that has taken over cable news and talk radio is dangerous — Hitler began Polish jokes to dehumanize the country they would overrun - so no, there is NO humor in anything she says - it has a strong fascist taint - “them and us” - just ugly.

that doesn’t surprise me…

when you point a finger @ someone, there are 3 pointing back at yourself…

capeche??
I got it, but I don’t know how three fingers are pointing back at me because I don’t consider Muslims or Arabs to be insane savages, nor do I think that the Russians were better because they were white.

:clapping::clapping::clapping::clapping::clapping:

A new word for you, distracted!!! You are our Haiku Princess!!!

i find your posts caustic… so are you any better than Ann Coulter?? (by your own standards, that is)??
Let me say it again: I don’t have a problem with the fact that she is caustic. I don’t have a problem with the fact that she is sarcastic. When she is making a valid point, I like her sarcasm. I think her remark about being “personally opposed” to shooting abortionists was on target, for instance.

I have a problem with the immoral *substance *of many of her opinions. How can I put it more clearly than that?

When she says that we should carpet-bomb Muslim countries and forcibly convert them, I object to the wickedness of what she is saying. You claim that she’s making some unspecified point in a caustic and exaggerated way, and yet you are unable to say what this point is. Another poster has suggested that she’s saying that we shouldn’t fight with celery sticks or something of that nature, which is hardly illuminating.

When she says that the Bible teaches us to “rape the earth”–again, what does this mean? She says it means that we should drive gas-guzzling cars. I couldn’t disagree more emphatically. If you think it means something else, what does it mean?
are your posts always perfectly rational??
Of course not.
It’s the same thing with you as w/ Coulter: she thinks what she is writing makes perfect sense. And it does… to me and others…
But in this very long thread you have proven utterly unable to explain the sense that her statements make. You have not explained what you think the sensible substance of her remark about invading Muslim countries is. You have not explained what sense her remark about “raping the earth” makes. When you and others try to do this, what comes out is that she expresses how you feel. You don’t like having your lifestyle criticized by environmentalists, so she helps you feel better about it. You don’t like having your government’s policies criticized as immoral and violent, so she helps you feel better about it. If she does something more than that for you (with regard to these two issues), please share what it is. Because I’ve missed it in all your posts.
you’re the one calling people names. Did i ever call you irrational?? To me, that is just a way to slander someone so that others (here) won’t like her… kinda cheap, don’t you think?
Not at all. It’s a challenge to you to show what rational sense her remarks make.

You haven’t done that. You haven’t shown what rational point she was making in her remark about invading Muslim countries.
is that because you are emotional??
Ann is too…
but somehow it is acceptable with you and not with her?? 🤷
There’s nothing wrong with being emotional. There’s nothing wrong with being caustic. There is something wrong with using extravagant rhetoric to say things that are utterly indefensible when examined in the light of reason. And there’s something very wrong about defending Ms. Coulter’s indefensible remarks by claiming that it’s “just her style,” when you can’t explain what her remarks boil down to when we have made allowance for her style.

You are a Catholic. You are supposed to believe in reason. You are not supposed to be going around telling people that an appeal to “reason” is really just some kind of subjective power ploy. That’s postmodern relativism.

I welcome a *rational *defense of either Ms. Coulter’s remark about invading Muslim countries or her remark about raping the earth. But the best you can do is make insinuations that those who criticize her aren’t really Christians!

No one expects the Spanish Inquisition.***… Our chief weapon is surprise…surprise and fear…fear and surprise… Our two weapons are fear and surprise…and ruthless efficiency… Our three weapons are fear, surprise, and ruthless efficiency…
and nice red uniforms!!!😃

Wow. I think I’ll shut my mouth and let Contarini do all the talking, because that expressed exactly what I wanted to say in a way far more eloquent, clear, and rational than I could ever do. The best I can do is give a very, very impressed thumbs up.

🍿

:bigyikes:No! She didn’t just say that did she?

:banghead:

🍿 I just love drama…

I’ll second that. 👍

Once again, distracted fails to address my comment about Ann Coulter professing Christianity while spewing vile attacks - and instead tries to insult me and anyone else who also finds Coulter offensive.
you profess being Christian, don’t you?

i rest my case.

Who are you to call someone wicked??? You are not God… (hate to be the bearer of bad news…)

know what else Coulter speaks about: how liberals don’t have a sense of humor… You look at this kind of thing and get all indignant… I look at it and laugh because i know she is using hyperbole and sarcasm… which you claim to not have a problem with.
You haven’t done that. You haven’t shown what rational point she was making in her remark about invading Muslim countries.
when are you and others going to wake up??? Those people HATE us… Do you understand the word HATE… ? ( i tend to think you do…). Do you understand 911 at all??? and 911 is not even close to being the only time the fanatical America-haters have attacked us… I don’t even read newspapers (too liberal) and yet i know about the other attacks… the Aquille Lauro, etc…

We have a right to defend ourselves… I say we go over there, rescue the pro-Americans and THEN bomb the crud out of them… or i should say, First convert them, if they are convert-able… I just wonder what Reagan would have done if he were president… probably what Bush did but more…

geeze, your lack of a sense of humor is mind-boggling… It may be black humor but it is humor nonetheless…

Wow. ‘Distracted’ has ‘spunk’!

(that is not necessarily a bad thing…)

Do you own a factory farm or something? That is the only reason I can think of why you would push the interests of these big businesses so vehemently…😊

i push the biggest business of all:

God’s business

God cares about the souls of his human children…

It doesn’t say in the Bible: God created animals. In his own image he created animals, male and female he created them…

nor did Jesus ever say: Love animals as you love yourself…

Well, that is certainly big business. And probably the most important of all… However, it is easy to think that one’s personal agenda is also God’s agenda. I may be at fault here, too. In order to avoid falling into that trap I try to rely on facts. There is no conflict between science and the church. (except maybe superficially)

And, no, The Lord never said those things. There is however, much to be said about causing undue suffering, and also about the myriad of other effects which not only raising animals for food, but people like Ann Coulter and the conservative/liberal media are having on believers like yourself and (and me too). One of those effects is to keep the believers divided through the use of political platforms. The Vatican says ‘NO’ to abortion. It also says be concerned about the environment. But, the political platforms say choose one or the other. How can you be ‘in lock step with the Pope’ if you remain politically faithful to either party, who are definitely NOT in accordance with the teachings of the Church?

the first one i discarded because it was nothing more than a hit piece by a liberal publication. lots of quips out of context.

the second link you sent was a good example. i hadnt seen this one before so that was my first time to read it. its clear from the article that she is adamantly against the open border policies and that she favors keeping the racial balance predominantly white. based on her own words i will have to concede at least that much.

i am not sure if i would go as far as to say that her remarks were racist though. there are race elements for sure. race is a fact of life and we have to deal with it and talk about it. i think most honest people would admit that if given the choice they would prefer to be part of the majority race in a particular country. wouldnt it be fair to say that most blacks would perfer that the majority be black, and the same for hispanics and all the other minorities. this country was primarily founded by white protestants and she is simply saying she, as a white protestant prefers not to reverse the balance so that white protestants go from majority to minority.

i think she is being honest. putting herself out on a limb for sure but honest.

i may have misconstrued her argument, not sure but that is my quick 5 minute take on it.

having said that, its not hard to see how someone would see this as racist. although i for one still do not believe she is a racist.

Who are you to call someone wicked???
I did not. I called her remarks wicked. That I can do.

Don’t you think abortion is wicked? I certainly do. You don’t have to be God to say that murder is wicked.
know what else Coulter speaks about: how liberals don’t have a sense of humor… You look at this kind of thing and get all indignant… I look at it and laugh because i know she is using hyperbole and sarcasm… which you claim to not have a problem with.
Then why can’t you describe in a plain and logical way what it is that she is trying to get across?

She’s not using hyperbole and sarcasm in these cases to make a legitimate point. She’s using them to mask the fact that she doesn’t have a legitimate point–at least that’s what it looks like given the complete inability of her supporters to explain what the point is.

OK. So you are soberly defending mass bombing, which includes the murder of innocent men, women, and children?

Only those who have actually committed murder deserve to die, right? Hating Americans is not a crime worthy of death.

Bombing the crud out of people is not “defending ourselves.” You don’t murder innocent people in the act of defending yourself. I presume that you can see this in the case of abortion (which some pro-choice folks try to defend as “self-defence”). Why can’t you see it here?

So where was the hyperbole? You are soberly defending what Coulter said. Your claim that she was exaggerating and your repeated appeals to “humor” are nothing but a sham, apparently.
geeze, your lack of a sense of humor is mind-boggling… It may be black humor but it is humor nonetheless…
I don’t understand why you think humor is all-excusing. If someone made an obscene joke about the Blessed Virgin, would you say that was OK? If someone made a joke about chopping up unborn babies, would you say that was OK?
