Hi everyone,
I’m conflicted and need your help.
For the past year, I’ve been sick with ongoing diarrhea, and the doctors haven’t figured it out. Since July 2007, I’ve lost over 60 lbs, have frequent abdominal pain, and feel ‘aweful’ most of the time.
I was overweight to begin with, and still have ‘wiggle room’ for losing more weight. I am still working with the doctors to try to get it diagnosed and treated.
I went to a healing Mass last night where the Annointing of the Sick Sacrament was being given, and my friends really pushed for me to go up.
I did go up, but I’ve been feeling ‘guilty’ because I don’t feel like I’m in “immediate” danger of death or anything like that. My understanding of this Sacrament that it’s supposed to be only used for surgery and very serious illnesses, like cancer and don’t feel my condition is that serious.
I realize that my condition, if I continue losing weight, could become life-threatening (I’m trying to get it healed/cured/etc. before I become underweight), but didn’t know if I ‘jumped the gun’ with the Sacrament.
I’d appreciate any advice.
Thanks,
Barbara
P.S. Just in case you’re wondering, I’ve had a whole gamut of tests, a few repeatedly, and we’ve ruled out parasites, celiac, collitus, Crohns, diverticulitis, gluten/wheat allergy–all the ‘obvious’ stuff.
