Hey everyone,
I posted on here a few weeks ago, freaking out a bit because my mom got engaged.
I’m feeling a bit better about things now, but more questions have come up. My parents did not get an annulment when they divorced, and didn’t apply for one either. My mom’s fiance is Lutheran and so my mom thinks that since getting an annulment would involve my dad (who is deep down still in love with mom but is, for lack of better words, a man-*hore. He also has a terrible temper and anger issues and would not hesitate to take it out on my sister and I), and she doesn’t want us to receive the effects of him being involved, she thinks that she’ll “go with the Lutheran wedding this time because as I know, its the closest to our church.” Ohhhhhh Mom…
I told her that she’s going to tell my dad anyway that she’s getting married because I’m not going to be the one responsible for it. So whether or not they get an annulment, he’s gonna know about it, and we’re gonna hear about it.
Any advice on what to say to her???
Also, my main question is: If a marriage is annuled, are the two individuals free to marry again? I know that if it is not annuled, it is as if the two are still married until one dies.
Thanks guys,
Jacki
