Dan!!Yes, a period of 15 days is given for the purpose of allowing for an appeal. If those days pass with no appeal, then the Sentence is āexecutedā and the persons involved can lawfully act based upon what the Sentence determines. Thatās the strict, āby the bookā way to look at it.

Yea!!!What a good week itās been!! <3
I got affirmative!!!
Wonderful suggestion! I definitely need to thank Him for this. Heās allowed my past 11 year situation to teach me the vitals I need, to attemp marriage in its best Earthly form; even if itās a second marriage.
One major hurdle over in your life.
If you have a moment, perhaps you could go to daily mass and say āthank you.ā
Blessings to you,
Your brother in Christ, Jesus, Andrew.
But its your first valid marriage!!!Wonderful suggestion! I definitely need to thank Him for this. Heās allowed my past 11 year situation to teach me the vitals I need, to attemp marriage in its best Earthly form; even if itās a second marriage.
I sure plan for it to be!!!But its your first valid marriage!!!![]()
Iām more anxious than annoyed. Nothing on our end has held up the process. When we call we are told āitās moving.ā They shouldnāt publish their average time for normal cases as 10-12 months when in reality 17-20 months seems more realistic.Iād be annoyed as all get-out at this point. Whatās the hold up? Can you call and ask whats holding up the case like this?
Congratulations! How long did it take to process? My significant others is at 17 months and counting. Mine was done several years ago. We are waiting on a decision so we can set a wedding date. My ex literally left me out of the blue for a younger woman after 21 years. He ran away from the family and lives his new life out of state. Iāve raised two of my kids myself, put them through Catholic school, and they are in college now. I have a middle school aged daughter and cannot wait to have a āfamilyā type life again. I think her witnessing a good marriage is vital to her development⦠Marriage is my calling, Iāve never felt whole as a single person.I got affirmative!!!
Girl Iām the same way⦠I feel so incomplete, being single. Marriage is my calling! Way to go, raising your kids alone and Iām sorry to hear what happened to your marriage.Congratulations! Oh PRAISE GOD!!! That is awesome! So very happy! Itās true, thereā strength in numbers. So very thrilled for you!I got affirmative!!!
Oh my, thatās a double awesome!!!Dan!!
My ex husband just got his affirmative letter telling him to come in and review the sentence, and opting to appeal within 15 days. Heās not going to, I just told him of his letter and weāre working together on this.
My question is, thereās nothing on there about an automatic appeal; it only says he has the right to an appeal to the archdiocese, or Roman Rota. Would there have been word of an automatic appeal In the 2nd court, if that was going to happen?
Plus, I didnāt get this letter. Iām the petitioner, so would he get this letter before me, to allow him time to appeal before Iām told of the ruling?
Totally agree, Guineviere. I think my case is on a similar timeline; and the Tribunal I submitted to states 6-12 months on their website, AND my letter reflecting the case going to final judgment stated 6-12 months as well. Feb 1st will be 17 months for me. Why create false hope in a situation that is already extremely stressful? It seems cruel to me.Iām more anxious than annoyed. I sympathize with the feelings. I understand that the Tribunal works for the Church and not for us and that they take things very seriously because marriage is serious. However, I completely agree with how frustration builds when you feel that your paperwork is collecting dust on someoneās desk for months at a timeā¦even if that isnāt truly the case. More dialogue and involvement in the process would be much more merciful and help manage expectations. Until I recently learned that my case can be proven as a lack of form, I was HIGHLY distressed because my conversion process was in a holding patternā¦meaning I was told I wouldnāt be able to go through at Easter unless I had my marriage situation sorted. Now for me personally, I know Iām pushing through until I can receive the Eucharist no matter what but I canāt help but think how many potential converts to the faith have been lost because of frustrations after starting to attempt to regularize their marriages. I donāt object to the questionsā¦I answered mine and found that be a good spiritual exercise for me and helpful to my current marriage but the radio silence seems to be deafening to you guys. My prayers are with everyone in this thread. I have been lighting a candle at Mass for last few weeks for all you here.Totally agree, Guineviere. And to actually tell you NOT to call them for progress on your case?? Thatās just ridiculous. Why not send out a status update monthly via email? If itās unchanged, then just a simple āunchangedā is fine, at least we know something. This is our spiritual life we are talking about. To be so callous towards people hoping to move forward with their lives in the Holy Church, is beyond me. OK. Iāll get off the soap box.
Weāve only called twice in 17 months. They were nice and told us to check in whenever we wanted. After 6 months pass with no communication from the tribunal you begin to wonder if your case got lost. Everyday, checking the mailā¦only to be disappointed yet again. In November we were told to call back in December. In December they said to check back in January. We didnāt bother calling in January as we got the letter stating itās entering the final stages. And to actually tell you NOT to call them for progress on your case?? Thatās just ridiculous. There is no āautomatic appealā anymore. But, yes, if it was going to happen then the letter would have said so.Dan!!

Both of you should receive the same letter and it should be sent at the same time.
Dan
Wowā¦your letter said you have to pay up before you receive your annulment decreeā¦my wife received her letter in the affirmative last month and the decree will be executed next weekā¦she paid $200 to the tribunal and $300 to a special advocateā¦nothing about any more paymentsā¦thatās a tad harshDan!
Thank you for your reply! Youāve been most helpful to myself and others on this site; God bless you!!!
I called the tribunal yesterday morning and they stated that my ex husband received the letter so that he would be able to appeal the sentence, should he desire. Being that im the petitioner, I dont need that opportunity, im guessing (being that they ruled in the affirmaive and thats what I was going for) so I didnt get one.
They also stated that after the 15 day period has passed with no appeal, the sentence would become effective and we will be receiving letters in the mail saying that the process is complete and that the decree would be made available to use once our remaining balance is paid in full.
My questions are: The office said that once the senetence is in effect, itll be effective in the TRIBUNAL, but that until we get the decrees, neither myself nor my ex can āactā so to speak, on the judgement. At least, thats how it sounded.
Is this true that we cannot date others licitly untill we have the decree, even though its become effective and our āmarryingā parish has been informed our decree of nullity?
Whats the purpose of having the official document other than āproofā?
Will we have to supply the parish with the decree before attempting a marriage?
Thanks again Dan!![]()
