I’m a twenty, almost twenty-one year old girl, and I have been struggling with what I imagine are anorexic tendencies. Before I further explain, I am NOT self diagnosing; I have started seeing a counselor, and have an appointment with my GP regarding this issue

As I am sure you have noticed from my username, I was a dancer (primarily ballet) for ten years. I always had a bit of a weight problem, but being that my instructors said that I was good enough to pursue a career as a professional, I knew that I needed to try my best to lose as much weight as I could.

I went from trying to make healthy choices, to starving myself and purging, all while I was dancing roughly twenty or more hours per week in addition to my schoolwork. I lost twenty pounds and I began to like my body a little more than before, and my teachers seemed to be satisfied (though they didn’t know what I was doing). But as this went on, I passed out twice during my dance classes on several occasions, and they caught on and threatened to tell my mom, which I did NOT want.

This all came to a halt when I injured my spine so severely that I had to quit dance. Due to inactivity, I put on all the weight that I had lost, AND some…which brings me to my current problem.

I desperately want to be skinny. I detest my body, I think I am the ugliest sight anyone could ever lay eyes upon…I’m not exaggerating, this is what goes through my mind. It pains me to look in the mirror…it pains me to receive any kind of compliment…all because I feel hideous and fat. Problem is, it’s not that I can just diet. Dieting brings on so much anxiety for me. I lost sixty pounds in 2012 by eating as little as I could and exercising several hours per day. But I worked myself so hard that I incurred yet another injury, preventing me from doing my workout…and AGAIN gaining back the weight.

I just don’t know what to do. I do need to lose weight. But every time I try, I make myself physically ill; I count calories so obsessively that if I go over even by the littlest bit, I will freak out and cry and worry that I will put more weight on. I don’t eat past 5pm, and if I do, even if it’s a piece of fruit, I start panicking. Also, I never feel like I am exercising enough. I will do an hour of kickboxing, but feel like I need to do more…I like to burn more calories than I eat. My mother has hidden the scale from me…that’s how bad it is.

Please pray for me; I simply do not know what to do anymore. I want to diet, but I know if I do, I will go over the edge. I’ve been skipping meals lately…it makes me sick to think about eating food, so I eat one meal per day of about 300-500 calories and then I feel less anxiety. But if I eat the recommended 1200-1500 calories, I’m constantly worried and scared.

Pleas pray I can be healed from this. I need help. I didn’t think it would ever get this bad.

Praying that the Lord may strengthen you with all necessary graces and grant you healing. Also praying that the Lord may guide you through your counselor and GP.

Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee. Blessed art thou amongst women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus.
Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death. Amen

Dear OP:

No one here can really help you.

Eating issues are, to an extent, medical issues, and so cannot be dealt with on this system. As with any other bodily issue, your best recourse is the medical profession.

You are in my prayers. Remember too that in the words of GOD: “a body He has prepared you.” And He will guide you in tending to that body!

Shalom and ICXC NIKA.

:signofcross:

Do not look forward to what may happen
tomorrow; the same everlasting Father who cares
for you today will take care of you tomorrow and
every day. Either He will shield you from suffering,
or He will give you unfailing strength to bear it.
Be at peace, then. Put aside all anxious thoughts and
imaginations, and say continually: “The Lord is my
strength and my shield. My heart has trusted in Him
and I am helped. He is not only with me but in me,
and I in Him.”
St. Francis de Sales

Sacred Heart of Jesus, I place all my trust in you knowing
that you love me, care for me, and will never abandon me.

I want to be like Mary, who, in spite of her sorrows and
great pain, was able to enjoy peace of mind in the midst of
her suffering, confident that God was at her side to give
her courage.

Help me to know that my suffering and pain too will pass,
as you guide me along the right path and that only
goodness and kindness will follow me all the days of my life.

Jesus, heal my heart and grant me peace of mind.
Amen

I will be praying one decade of the rosary for these intentions.

I am so sorry to hear of your stuggle with weight issues and anorexia. I pray that with the assistance of your Dr and counselor that you can unravel this issue and learn to keep yourself at a health weight with a healthy intake of food.

With God all things are possible…
God bless,
Mary.

Prayer of St. Dymphna

Lord, our God, you graciously chose St. Dymphna as patroness of those afflicted with mental, emotional, and nervous disorders. She is thus an inspiration and a symbol of charity to the thousands who ask her intercession.

Please grant, Lord, through the prayers of this pure youthful martyr, relief and consolation to all suffering eating disorders and other mental problems.

We beg you, Lord, to hear the prayers of St. Dymphna on our behalf. Grant all those for whom we pray patience in their sufferings and resignation to your divine will.

Please fill them with hope, and grant them the relief and cure they so desire.
We ask this through Christ our Lord who suffered agony in the garden. Amen.

Lovedance4ever, I completely understand what you are going through. I have been anorexic for over 30 years. For many years I was 30-40 lbs underweight. There is no medical reason I am alive. I was a walking skeleton. I am still underweight and get stares but not quite as much.

Ask yourself what you want in the future. Do you want to be married and have children today? You are risking that? Do you have a career in mind? You are risking that? You are risking who will be your friends. I can tell you from very hard personal experience it just isn’t worth it. I still see myself, like you see yourself, 30 years later.

Do whatever you can to find help. It is a extremely difficult life and not one many understand or have sympathy for. They see me as a freak. They stay away from my children.

STOP weighing yourself. Limit the time your look at yourself in the mirror. Explore your other talents, other than dance. Seek out someone you can trust that will tell you when you have become too thin, and listen to them. I spent two solid months in a hospital because I was so thin, even though I never had any physical issuse from being so thin, but that is very, very rare. Today, I cannot remember things like I should and I have been told my bones are much older than I am.

Try to be athletic instead of thin. Be strong instead of thin. When you die, no one is going to care what you weighed. They are going to care about what kind of friend you were, what you did for others, what other talents you had. I have NO friends. I do nothing with anyone. It is not a life you want. Worst of all is that it affect my kids. Get help to stop the progression as soon as you can.Go out and focus on others and not yourself. I know you can turn things around. My prayers are with you.

Saint Michael, the archangel, defend us in battle, be our defense against the wickedness and snares of the devil, may God rebuke him, we humbly pray. And do you, O’ Prince of the Heavenly host, by the power of God thrust into Hell Satan and all the other evil spirits who prowl about the world for the ruin of souls.

Amen.

Our Father who art in Heaven, hallowed be thy name.

Thy kingdom come, thy will be done on Earth as it is in Heaven.

Give us this day our daily bread.

And forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us.

And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.

Amen.

Prayer for a Miracle

God of all creation, you who spoke a simple command and brought forth light from
the darkness, I ask you now to send forth your miracle-working power to heal (lovedance4ever. You cleansed the lepers, opened the eyes of the blind and by
speaking a simple command, you empowered the crippled to rise up and walk.
You sent forth your life-giving power to all those in need, including those you raised from
the dead. I ask you to send forth your healing power into lovedance4ever’s body and give him the strength to fight his illness. I ask this through my Lord, Jesus Christ, your Son, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. Amen

I am a 29 y.o. man, and still I know exactly what you are talking about. I got sick twice in about 5 years. And because I am still here praising God for saving me, I know he can heal and help you.

I won’t, as always, write any specific prayer here, but be assured of my prayer for you today.
