Another cousin succumbing to cancer

God of power and mercy, you have made death itself the gateway to eternal life. Look with love on our dying brother Wayne, and make him one with Your Son in His suffering and death, that, sealed with the blood of Christ, he may come before you free from sin. Amen.
 
Almighty and merciful God, You bestow on mankind both the remedies of health and the gifts of everlasting life. Look graciously on Wayne Your servant suffering from bodily infirmity and strengthen the soul which You have made. At the hour of his death, may he deserve to be offered without stain of sin to You his Creator by the hands of the holy angels. Through Christ our Lord. Amen.

There has been no change in Wayne’s condition.
The cancer has spread throughout his body … he could die any day now.

For Wayne’s death and for his soul:
To thee I have recourse, St. Joseph, Patron of the dying; and to thee, at whose blessed death watchfully assisted Jesus and Mary, by both these dearest pledges I earnestly recommend the soul of this servant Wayne in the sufferings of his agony, that he may, by your protection, be delivered from the snares of the devil and from eternal death, and may merit to attain everlasting joy. Through the same Christ our Lord.

tonight that line really jumped out at me. Each and every dying person is such a precious creation and is loved so much by our Father!

Wayne passed away earlier today (Saturday).

I still remember him as a young man full of energy.
He spent years working with natives in northern BC as a missionary.
Although not a Catholic, he was a baptized Christian and I am trusting the Lord to be merciful and just … as He always is.
Absolve, we beseech Thee, O Lord,
the soul of Thy servant Wayne,
from every bond of sin,
that being raised in the glory of the resurrection,
he may be refreshed among the Saints and Elect.
Through Christ our Lord.

Amen.

Reginator, I am sorry that I missed this post the last few times I prayed for your cousin. My condolences to you and your family. May our Lord grant Wayne peace in heaven.

O God, the Creator and Redeemer of all the faithful, grant to the soul of Thy departed servant the full remission of all his sins, that through our pious supplications he may obtain that pardon which he has always desired, Thou Who livest and reignest world without end. Amen.

V. Eternal rest grant unto him, O Lord.
R. And let perpetual light shine upon him.
V. May the Divine Assistance remain always with us.
R. And may the souls of the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace.
