Because President Obama was protected by the Leftist media for all 8 of his years, I just thought I’d provide a few gems that many people didn’t hear about. My main point here is the hate the Leftist media has for President Trump, as compared to their love for Obama.
  1. ….ten thousand people died — an entire town destroyed.
“In case you missed it, this week, there was a tragedy in Kansas. Ten thousand people died — an entire town destroyed.”
Regarding a Kansas tornado that killed 12 people
  2. “I’ve now been in 57 states — I think one left to go.”
During a campaign event in Beaverton, Oregon.
  3. It’s not surprising, then, they get bitter, they cling to guns…
“It’s not surprising, then, they get bitter, they cling to guns or religion or antipathy to people who aren’t like them or anti-immigrant sentiment or anti-trade sentiment as a way to explain their frustrations.”
Obama trying to explain why he has difficulty winning over some working-class voters.
  4. Fallen heroes — and I see many of them in the audience here today.
“On this Memorial Day, as our nation honors its unbroken line of fallen heroes — and I see many of them in the audience here today — our sense of patriotism is particularly strong.”
  5. Israel is a strong friend of Israel’s
“Let me be absolutely clear. Israel is a strong friend of Israel’s. It will be a strong friend of Israel’s under a McCain…administration. It will be a strong friend of Israel’s under an Obama administration. So that policy is not going to change.”

Because everything must be fake news or vicious distortion of the facts if it is critical of our Great Leader… after all he is a “very stable genius”… who is unwilling to show his academic results for some unfathomable reason.

I merely said that “full employment” can be defined differently.
Well, in that case, I could define an ostrich as a 4-legged mammal.

One doesn’t get to redefine words, and writing as if chattel slavery and employment have some similarity is, I think, very insulting to the memory of those held in that bondage.

I am familiar with that line of defencse - which is just a denial of reality. But the proof-tecting claim is odd. It suggests a partial quote out of context. But that claim is hard to sustain when the the quote is full and not taken out of context.

His answer to the question was quoted in full. Hard to understand what makes you think that proof-texting is an issue here.
Yes, the full quote was buried in the article.

The full quote did not support the claim of the article, that he was only talking about cities on the US west coast.

Third sentence in:
“He’s sees what’s going on, I guess, if you look at what’s happening in Los Angeles, where it’s so sad to look, and what’s happening in San Francisco and a couple of other cities, which are run by an extraordinary group of liberal people,” Trump told the Times.

“I don’t know what they’re thinking,” he added. “But when you look at Los Angeles, when you look at San Francisco, when you look at some of the other cities — and not a lot, not a lot — but you don’t want it to spread.”
LA , SF are the named cities. They are both West Coast.

I believe that you believe it’s ethical journalism

I’m also confident you have no familiarity with the professional code of ethics for journalists.

Since classic liberalism (a/k/a sometimes “western liberalism”) is pretty nearly dead in the West, Putin would have been closer to accurate if he had said it is “rejected” in the West, (rather than “obsolete”) and certainly by what passes as “liberalism” nowadays.

It is very sad that you might be right. The current trend toward fascistoid leaning is frightening. So many ultra-right parties gain acceptance and build followers, instead of being scorned and exposed to what they are. The enemies of freedom and self-determination.

There are too many people who are scared of freedom, who prefer to be told what to think and how to think. Of course freedom comes with responsibility, and it is scary for many people.
If there is a lesson in all of this it is that our Constitution is neither a self-actuating nor a self-correcting document. It requires the constant attention and devotion of all citizens. There is a story, often told, that upon exiting the Constitutional Convention Benjamin Franklin was approached by a group of citizens asking what sort of government the delegates had created. His answer was: “A republic, if you can keep it.”
And no, it is not a democracy. As the old saying goes: “we speak of democracy when two wolves and one sheep vote for what will be the dinner tonight”. Of course the election process is still based upon a version of “majority rules” type of arrangement, but the elected government is able to go against its declared “ideals”, and as the example of the “very stable genius” shows, it can undermine the republican basis.

Nothing surprising in that, the autocrats always wanted to subvert the republic. The sad thing is that there is the “core”, which does not care. As the “very stable genius” declared: “I could shoot someone on Fifth Avenue, and would not lose the votes of my followers.”
