This I have a problem with. How do we know this is their ‘natural’ tendency? How do we know if they weren’t abused, molested, or mistreated at any point in their confusing, post pubescent adolescence, where their hormones are going crazy, not knowing what to think of it? Or even what kind of upbringing they’ve had?Well, OK.
But there’s some obvious problems with that.
For one, I do like to think that the Church has some reasons beyond “because I said so.” I don’t imagine God would give us brains and then ask us not to use them, right?
For another, We have to talk to people who aren’t necessarily of the same position on the Church’s teachings. Clearly, for example, an unrepentant homosexual is not of the same position. So, “The Church said so,” is not a very compelling reason for them to **deny their natural tendency **and something that they take great joy in.
These are all pertaining questions that could potentially be the SOURCE of their ‘natural’ tendency… we don’t know what they’ve gone through in life that has lead to their conclusions of being ‘homosexuals’. We need to find the source of their ‘nature’, and how it was brought about.
I understand what you are trying to say. I mourn over the loss of every loved one I’ve lost. It’s not easy, what so ever. But!! Until THEY put themselves in OUR shoes and know what God teaches, there’s no hope for any type of agreement on the subject. It’s truly up to them to figure it out, like so many I know who HAVE made the effort in seeking the understanding of our position, and making the conclusion that we are obedient to God’s commandments and laws.
People change, but God does not. And that’s for our greater good.
Secondly, what do you mean, by “things they take great joy in” ? Do you mean the relationship they share, which includes the sexual nature of it as well? Anyone who has had any type of sexual relation with another will have some stronger bond with that person. Attachment if you will. It affects our psychological, our physical, and our emotional. Some run from it fearing commitment issues, etc… but most share a bond like no other.
Love is a decision, and unfortunately, people think it’s a feeling. I think in this case, he made the decision to love, and he lost that love. I decide to love my parents, brothers, sisters, (in-law as well) and to lose any one of them, I would be devastated. This just goes to show that the media is also trying to normalize it, using this situation to portray its normalcy, which is it not. The more you watch gory movies, the more desensitized one becomes. This is what the media is doing. Desensitizing us by having people watch these types of scenarios over and over, trying to make it normal.
Read the CCC. You’ll find answers. Seek and ye shall find. Hopefully this has helped, if not I’m sorry for even typing a word! lol
God bless.
