There are clips from two or three different Masses. The main things I remember: A teenager gives the homily. A priest other than the presider gives a talk after the prayers that seems to be nothing more than a comedy routine. The presider changes the words that are supposed to be “This is the Lamb of God. Happy are those who are called to His Supper.” The faithful are invited to join the priest in the sanctuary during the consecration. The words to the Lamb of God are changed (new tropes). Those are the main things I remember. Sorry to say, I’ve seen them all before many, many times (except that little comedy routine).Could someone explain what happens in the video briefly. Before he got there, Orange was a fairly conservative and wealthy diocese under Bishop Norman MacFarland, and it was a safe haven for many seminarians ordinarily destined to study for the Archdiocese of Los Angeles. In those days, Bishop Brown was busy Mahoneyizing the Diocese of Boise. How many years has stuff like this --been going on in that part of California.

Don’t be quick to condemn Californians. Most of the state is fairly normal politically and religiously (San Francisco, Marin County, and West Hollywood excepted), and there are some excellent bishops including Bishop William Wiegand (Sacramento), Bishop Allen Vigneron (Oakland), and the newest one, Bishop Richard Garcia (Monterey, formerly auxiliary in Sacramento). I’m sure there are others as well.
The Diocese of Boise, whose leadership has not improved since Tod Brown’s departure: the present bishop’s right-hand man is a nun who feels much put-upon because no one will vindicate her right to be a priest. Before he got there, Orange was a fairly conservative and wealthy diocese under Bishop Norman MacFarland, and it was a safe haven for many seminarians ordinarily destined to study for the Archdiocese of Los Angeles. Please don’t go that far. It is better than it was. It is taking a lot of deprogramming to undo the previous damage done by Bishop Brown. Our Bishop before Tod was an absolutely amazing leader named Bishop Sylvester Treinen. We had a great and holy diocese under his sheparding. I miss him dearly. The Diocese of Boise, whose leadership has not improved since Tod Brown’s departure:
Frankly, I haven’t noticed any real efforts at deprogramming under the current bishop. Nor can I honestly expect any from a bishop who surrounds himself with liberal aides and gives liberals such free reign. Please don’t go that far. It is better than it was. Now now, try not to judge us allAll I have to say is that I am very glad I am not a Catholic in California…it appears their are very grave abuses on a wide scale taking place out there.
In some dioceses, yes, the abuse is incredible (Orange, Los Angeles, Sacramento when some of them think the bishop can’t see into Solano County). In other dioceses (Oakland) they are trying to do better. All I have to say is that I am very glad I am not a Catholic in California…it appears their are very grave abuses on a wide scale taking place out there.
My beloved husband was born and bred in California, and is not only a clear-thinking Thomist, but a pretty regular guy, same as most in the Midwest.
Hey your talkin’ about my dioceses, Sacramento. Can you prove where we have abuses? I’m really curious about this. Now I haven’t gone to every parish but I’m really wondering which one? I have been to several though. In some dioceses, yes, the abuse is incredible (Orange, Los Angeles, Sacramento). In other dioceses (Oakland) they are trying to do better.
I saw my error. Not all of your diocese, just little nips when they think the bishop can’t see. Solano County. Please don’t panic. Sorry.Hey your talkin’ about my dioceses, Sacramento. I didn’t mean to sound so strong actually, I was really wanting to you have you show me because I thought I was going crazy.I saw my error. Not all of your diocese, just little nips when they think the bishop can’t see. Solano County. Please don’t panic. Sorry.
Can I start the list?
Oh, and I so loved that video! How can you malign it? angelqueen.orgoh you bigot
this isn’t how it is
things are changing and this doesn’t happen often
why do you hate the NO
they have no clue
but the people feel so on fire with the Holy Spirit
I understand, and your are right. That is against forum rules. But then how are the videos naming Priests and Parishes allowed? Because it’s link? I’m asking because I don’t want to make a mistake if I ever want to post something. I should re-read the rules.I just don’t want to release the name of the parish and have all get-out come down on me.
On a postive note, St. Catherine of Sienna in Vallejo is very nice, something for everybody; but reverent Mass despite the church’s architecture. No ad libs, no Barney, no “devil” distributing the Eucharist…
