honey, I see the verses about slaying, but I still don’t have the name of the slayed prophets… 😃 so I am still waiting. Just in case you want to give me… 👍
Footy

Muslims believe that every nation recieved a messenger. We dont know all of their names. Is it really that important? The Children of Israel, according to the Bible and the Quran, killed many of the messengers sent to them.

Footy, why do you want the names of the slayed prophets? Are you in doubt as to whether or not the Childern of Israel killed many of their prophets?

(Luke 11:47-50)

“47Woe unto you! for ye build the sepulchres of the prophets, and your fathers killed them.
48Truly ye bear witness that ye allow the deeds of your fathers: for they indeed killed them, and ye build their sepulchres.
49Therefore also said the wisdom of God, I will send them prophets and apostles, and some of them they shall slay and persecute:
50That the blood of all the prophets, which was shed from the foundation of the world, may be required of this generation;”

(1 King 19:10)

“10And he said, I have been very jealous for the LORD God of hosts: for the children of Israel have forsaken thy covenant, thrown down thine altars, and slain thy prophets with the sword; and I, even I only, am left; and they seek my life, to take it away.”

(2 Chronicles 24:18-21)

“18And they left the house of the LORD God of their fathers, and served groves and idols: and wrath came upon Judah and Jerusalem for this their trespass.
19Yet he sent prophets to them, to bring them again unto the LORD; and they testified against them: but they would not give ear.
20And the Spirit of God came upon Zechariah the son of Jehoiada the priest, which stood above the people, and said unto them, Thus saith God, Why transgress ye the commandments of the LORD, that ye cannot prosper? because ye have forsaken the LORD, he hath also forsaken you.
21And they conspired against him, and stoned him with stones at the commandment of the king in the court of the house of the LORD.”

Read Hebrews 11

You are correct M1. Anybody that claims about the slayed prophet must responsible to name it. Or else we are not going anywhere but stuck here

Well just to make sure that you really help us to know the prophets name that the Jew had killed. That’s all.

The Bible also stated that they killed many of their prophets. Does it mention their names?

Are you guys saying that they did NOT slay many of the prophets sent to them? Are you saying that the Bible, your holy book, is wrong?

Faith, baby, darling, i want you to mention the name of prophets that jews slayed… I believe my book but i do not believe in you. So name it.

lol. So you agree with what I’m saying but still find a way to disagree with me.

Again, there was a prophet sent to every nation. IF the Quran were to name all the prophets, it would a million pages long. The purpose of the Quran is not to give us names and details that arent neccesary. It is to guide us and to teach us lessons by highlighting what former people did.

Peace

p.s. Does the Bible mention all of their names?

Please refrain from using cutesy names on this forum. It is an underhanded way to debate, and it will not be tolerated.

I understand this may not have been the intention in this instance, but I have seen more and more of this in Non-Catholic religions.

Thank you. We now return to our regularly scheduled discussion…

God bless-

how many prophets did you have faith? it wouldnt need million pages… thats baloney. 😃 . ok the problem is that in your quran, the slaying of prophets have made allah broke his covenant with the jews, which is not in our bible.

Yes, I believe in my corrupted books. There’s a handful of prophets sent by God not millions. None of the prophets of “books” got killed. I’m still waiting for uncorrupted “books” that y’all always talk about. We want facts not fictions.

I see what you are saying, just because there are so many prophets there is no real reason to mention any specifically since specifics have nothing to do with the overall purpose. And therefore there is no real reason to answer any question specifically. Sort of like saying that there is no need to name every grain of sand on a beach because the beach itself fulfills its own purpose. Likewise, you don’t have to know any specific Chinese person to know that there are Chinese people in China and that China is a Chinese country. Then again, there is no reason to name any specific part of a vehicle just because the purpose of a vehicle is to get us from point A. to point B. Or maybe a doctor doesn’t need to know specific parts of the body because hey, its just meaningless details and its the overall person that matters. Right?

Holy moley if I can dodge bullets like you can dodge questions, I would join the army and personally fight and win the War on Terror .

Just name names and maybe this discussion wouldn’t be so stagnant. It would be interesting to know more specifics on Islamic faith.

Ok, then maybe you can help me out. According to your profile, you are Catholic, so you believe in the Bible. The Bible says that the Children of Israel killed many of the messengers sent to them. Please name them according to the Bible, that way I can look each person you name up and see if there if any Muslim scholars discussed that person.

Thank you for your anticipated help 🙂

To clear something up, not all prophets recieved books. There mission is highlighted below:

And verily, We have sent among every Ummah (community, nation) a Messenger (proclaiming): “Worship Allah (Alone), and avoid (or keep away from) Taghoot (all false deities, etc. i.e. do not worship Taghoot besides Allah).” Then of them were some whom Allah guided and of them were some upon whom the straying was justified. So travel through the land and see what was the end of those who denied (the truth). (Quran 16:36)

You believe that there were only a handful of prophets, is there a verse in the Bible that backs up what your saying?

Sister Faith made it clear that the Qur’an does not mention the names of the slain prophets. The Qur’an made a statement. If you ask us why do we believe such a statement to be true, we will simply answer it is because we believe the Qur’an to be the true word of Allah (SWT) the Creator, the Knower of the Seen and the Unseen.
If people take the fact that the Qur’an does not give the names of the slain prophets a reason to attack the validity of the Qur’an as being the Word of the Living God, they should -to be fair to themselves- apply the same criteria to their own holy book; If they find that their holy book gives the names, then good for them, but they cannot attack the statement made by the Qur’an as being false, at best they can accuse the Qur’an of plagiarizing the Bible, a common Christian belief. Besides, I am sure I will find with people hundred of reasons not to believe the Qur’an, so this one issue of not mentionning names seems trivial to me.
It would be interesting to know more specifics on Islamic faith…
Brother Jonathan, I humbly fail to see how some names of a slain Jewish prophets would give more specifics about the Islamic faith.

Salaam.
Joseph.

My original question HAD long ago been answered in this thread, just in case anyone was wondering. Thanks.
