People are Christians or not Christians on an individual basis. Belonging to any religious organization doesn’t make one a Christian. It is just as possible to be a Catholic, yet not be a Christian, as it is to be a member of any Christian denomination and not be a Christian.
Funny how you are quick to judge someone’s heart prior to becoming Catholic and now since they are Catholic you can’t answer my question. Tell me Auburn, other than knowing that this individual was a Lutheran who converted to Catholicism, how do you know he was not a Christian? You know, since one is not Christian (or a Christian) based on their church

And no it is not possible to be Catholic and not a Christian. To be Catholic is to be Christian. It would be like saying it is possible to be among the living while dead.

God bless

No, Jesus founded one Church - the Catholic Church. It is whoever departs from His Church, which the Apostles tell us is “One, Holy, Catholic, and Apostolic” that the verse is referring to.
Yep. That’s what Catholics believe, alright.

Never judged anybody’s heart.

I’ll let the verse I’ve already cited speak for itself.

Except that the Bible doesn’t define a Christian as a member of a religious organization. In the Bible, being a Christian is ALWAYS on an individual level. There isn’t one example of anyone joining any religious body, much less the church, and* then becoming a Christian by virtue of their membership. To the contrary, Acts tells us that people became Christians and then *joined the church, not joined the church and thus became Christians.

No, not at all. I’ve saying that this particular individual wasn’t a Christian.
Why wasn’t he a Christian Auburn? Because he became Catholic? Because anyone who does so cannot be Christian? Because he was Lutheran? Because anyone who is Lutheran cannot be Christian? You made the judgement now explain yourself.
I’ll let the verse I’ve already cited speak for itself.
I don’t think so Auburn. The verse does not speak for you in this matter. What were you getting at by quoting this Scripture? If you believe this man was not a Christian why? Other than knowing he was once Lutheran and is now Catholic what basis do you have to make this judgement:

Remember, you can’t use his church affiliation to determine whether he is Christian or not.

God bless

The only thing he “departed from” was the heresy of Lutheranism - which is definitely not the “us” being referred to in your Bible verse, because Lutheranism didn’t exist yet, at the time that the verse was written. 🤷

A admit to not being particularly familiar with Michael Root, but I would certainly offer him my congratulations and most sincer welcome to Holy Mother Church.

Be careful. Criticizing Lutherans is considered “contempt for Catholicism”.
I was not criticizing Lutherans (human persons created in the image and likeness of God); I was identifying Lutheranism (a set of ideas) as a heresy.

There is a huge difference. 🙂

I like his comment that he recognizes the Church’s active participation in God’s mission to save and redeem us.

The Catholic Church is truly Christ’s bride, having the power to bind. Christ allows His Church to provide a nurturing walk in our conversion walk…Catholics have a deeply interactive and cooperative relationship with God…

Is there an organization or website of converts, both the well-known Protestants and all the nobodies like me and my husband?

I think it would be good to get together and be a witness.
www.catholicconvert.com
chnetwork.org/ (Marcus Grodi, Dr. Scott Hahn)

I’m sure there are others, but these are the two big ones I’m aware of. Both networks have been started by well known, and respected protestant converts and both I beleive foster forums and communications between converts and those exploring the CC.

Of note is that when they join the Roman Catholic Church they are considered “respected” when they leave they are “fringe” “radical” “heritical” or otherwise.
