Some of these centuries old traditions that have little to nothing to do with God and faith are keeping the church from moving into the 21st century.
Not so. All traditions that have been passed down through the ages stuck for a reason. They have everything to do with God. It actually seems reversing those traditions has done the opposite…during the 50s the Church was doing amazingly well…and now look where we are. Declining vocations, declining attendance at mass, major lack in belief of the Real Presence, etc. It’s important to look at the fruits.
Yes! And if I remember correctly, that book was written in 1896! What would Fr. Salvany think of today’s modern liberalism?
I read recently about the rise of the heresy Americanism, how it came to be in the mid 1800s by a few cardinals and priests in America. It’s not much different at all from what’s seen today, except maybe more subtle. They still denied back then that they were spouting Modernist/Americanist ideas or that the heresy even exists just as is also seen today.

Liberals = Heretics/Dissenters/Faithless

Conservatives = Catholics
Here’s an answer to dismiss as having no basis in fact. Absolutely disgraceful, divisive. And uncharitable!

It is fact. I’ve said this multiple times on this site, but do research the heresy of Americanism. Liberalism plays a key role in it.

That makes no sense. Pope Leo XIII condemned it. It is against Catholicism and very much exists. It’s basically liberalism in a nut shell.

learned long ago not to enter into a battle of wits with an unarmed person. I’m out of this one.
@misstherese made a very pertinent contribution to this conversation. Your attitude towards her is unkind and uncalled for.

I think his hair would turn white with fright and shock. Things are much worse now and the trend will continue until the coming of Our Lord. Thankfully, some of us are still reading works such as “Liberalism is a Sin” and are able to inoculate ourselves from the worst of it.

I’m not labeling, I asked what “VIEWS” can be associated with… lol…

The thing is is that nobody can agree on what a liberal or a conservative Catholic is. Or what a liberal in general is.

Yep.

You could also call Pope Leo XIII divisive or those priests who agreed with him…but you can’t control what happens after truth comes out. Some won’t like it.

Pope St. Pius X was super “divisive” compared to Leo XIII.

Pius X’s entire papacy was spent combatting heresy, battling heretics, and protecting orthodoxy in the Church. St. Pius X was a straight up warrior for doctrinal orthodoxy.

He was also one of the holiest Pontiffs in the last 1000 years.

St. Pope Pius X, pray for us

It doesn’t seem to me like @misstherese is the one being divisive here…
I would tend to agree, if you discount the fact that he/she has unwavering and uncompromising prejudice against those who do not share the same political ideology (which is masked in theology).
