Remember God ordered their complete destruction.

Some slipped through the net and survived, settled deep in the forests in another land, and have just been discovered alive and well and thriving, despite living in complete isolation for the past 4000 years.

Science confirms and there’s no disputing the fact these are pure-blooded Amelekites, descended from survivors of the those who managed to escape.

What should happen to them now.

God is offended: Nuke 'em:p
:rotfl:

I suspect there would be Christians of that view

Afterall they were to be totally destroyed, blotted off the face of the earth 🤷

So I’m curious as to the approach people of faith would have to this group today.

Seems to me, if they are allowed to survive, that’s in direct contravention to the command of God, who persisted over some time in the OT in persuing His policy of complete annihilation towards them. 🤷

Well since Christ has completed the Law there is no need to go back and redo what was done (or not done) in the Old Testament.

So I believe Catholics would welcome the Amelakites and make sure that Atheists didn’t get to them first:p

Didn’t Jesus say He didn’t come to change the Law?

God wanted these people destroyed. Completely.

That was God’s wish, and command.

Can this be overlooked now, because Jesus died? What the connection between the two?

Yes he did, then he finished with … “but to complete it.”

[BIBLEDRB]Matthew 5:17[/BIBLEDRB]

It can be overlooked because in Jesus death all reparation for all sin has been paid.

Small aside → Got a link to the article? I’d love to read it.

There is no way a scientist could prove a modern Amalekite community. There would be nothing of the Amalekites of 4000 years ago to be able to compare a modern population with, nothing at all, not even DNA.

Even if it were possible, God has mercy on people who repent. If He let a remnant go, that means He intended it that way.

That was an amusing stunt Atheistgirl.

Christians follow the New Testament, and I cannot find any information on any new tribes being discovered.

If you have a problem with the alleged military ineffectiveness of the Old Testament, I suggest consulting the Jews. They’d probably say that whenever God commanded a certain civilization to fall, it did not mean kill every man, woman and child. Like most conquered civilizations, the survivors assimilated into other cultures…including Judaism. There were very special provisions for outsiders who wished to join their community.

My approach to them would be to share the Gospel with them. They have every right to know.

The unfortunate thing is I was really looking forward to the article.

Would have loved to have compared the genetic profile. 😦

I believe the Hebrew Bible speaks of the appearance of some Amalekites after their purported total destruction. Further, the language used in this connection is typically rhetorical since it was really the religion the Amalekites practiced that offended G-d more than the people themselves and that is what was actually destroyed. Third, insofar as the Canaanites were concerned, G-d waited patiently 400 years for their reformation before punishing them. Finally, from the Christian perspective, the genocides in the Bible (among other events) set the stage for the salvation of all humanity provided by Jesus.

If only there was an omnipotent deity who could reveal itself and work wondrous deeds to help unbelievers like the Amelekites see the light without, you know, actually slaughtering them. A deity like that could really come in handy.

I think they should be protected from people with a tendency to follow the commandments of God in a literal way, but I would appreciate it Sarah if you could encourage them not to assert a right to a homeland anywhere in or near Palestine. Also please don’t begin describing modern civilization by explaining the Kardashians.

Why not? Didn’t one of the Kardashians just deliver her own baby by hand? Quiet a handy thing to teach the women in this tribe I should think.😉

I sincerely doubt if any pure blooded Amelekites have survived until today. Not impossible but doubtful, given the intermixing of peoples generally over these thousands of years. And how would anyone be able to prove it? Does it mean anthing if true? No, Christianity has more to worry about than a few Amelekites still surviving. So, what is the point? Live and let live, I say. God’s commands made concerning the Amelekites were made to a specific people at a specific time. They are gone and we live under a different covenant. Those times are past and done with. 🤷
