Isn’t an abortionist a mass murderer?
Actually, a serial killer. And they exhibit the traits of a serial killer, from not having empathy for the victim to feeling they have a right to kill.
What would you do? You say we shouldn’t this or that, but what you do. Torturing the abortionists family is immoral and an amuzing aside from what we are talking about. What would YOU do?
That’s the whole crux of this thread, isn’t it? The people who don’t do anything sniping and complaining about the people who are actually doing the work.

The people who don’t do anything sniping and complaining about the people who are actually doing the work.
That is an unsupportable statement.

The “crux of this thread” is that there are people who disagree with specific actions by specific people who identify as prolife activists on the basis that those specific actions are inappropriate. That specific action is the display of graphic photographs of the bloody mutilated corpses of babies in ways and areas in which they are known to be accessible to young children.

You have absolutely no basis for claiming that anyone on this board doesn’t “do anything” about abortion or that the people who are choosing to engage in this specific disputed tactic are the only “people actually doing the work.” That is, unless you are claiming omniscience??

Anna does x to protest abortion
Bill does not do x because Bill believes x is harmful and there are other ways to protest abortion
Therefore Bill does nothing in any way to protest abortion (or, alternately, therefore Bill is obviously in support of on demand abortion for everyone at every time for any reason)

Bill eats canned tuna every day because it is a cheap source of protein
Anna does not eat canned tuna because of concerns over levels of mercury known to be in canned tuna and the harmful effects of indiscriminate consumption of foods high in mercury on human health
Therefore, Anna obviously has no source of protein in her diet whatsover and does not believe that protein is necessary for human health.

By that reasoning, the Pope is “doing nothing” about abortion because I have seen no one bring forward evidence that he has either held up these signs on a street corner or said specifically that it was a great idea to do so.

That is an unsupportable statement.
So tell us about your work to save the unborn.
The “crux of this thread” is that there are people who disagree with specific actions by specific people who identify as prolife activists
And that’s all they do – disagree. They have no positive agenda to put forward, no success stories of their own work, or anything like that.

:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

It is really quite irritating being considered the enemy by the same people you march in anti-abortion marches with because you won’t agree to carry the same sign!

Not true, in the least.

I, for one, have been criticizing the “indiscriminate” use of these graphic images for the past 4-5 years. In that time I have attended dozens of “prayerful” protests, Walk for Life, Prayer Chains, Processions, etc (all of which btw have specified “no graphic images” to be brought to the events). I assist with Rachel’s Hope post abortion retreats. I support the local Pregnancy Centers through generous donations and prayer. I have given several “talks” at different events, one was to a group of teens. I am involved in political activism in writing and calling legislators, and educating the public on behalf of prolife causes i.e. abortion, ESCR, death penalty, and euthanasia.

This is to say nothing of Bishop Henry, whom I’ve quoted earlier, and his Prolife activism.

I have a very positive agenda (referenced earlier in this thread) to put forward and have been personally involved in the rescue of at least two women in crisis pregnancies.

I’m not tooting my own horn, just responding to this false accusation.

Now it’s your turn. What do YOU do?

Currently secretary of our County Right to Life organization, developed our county plan – which includes recruiting churches to “adopt” pregnant girls who need help, preparing the ground for a crisis pregnancy center, raising money (via our local Kof C and challenging other churches to match it) for that purpose, pushing for a bill to declare 4D sonograms to be “infored consent” for abortions, pressing for a bill to allow underage girls who have been aborted against their will to sue after reaching majority, distributing copies of “In the Womb” to local churches and to the library. Setting up displays at the country fair. Marching in parades (we took the “Freedom of Speech” float in the 4th of July Parade and demonstrated what that means.)

And about a dozen more programs that would make boring reading.😉

Oh, I almost forgot, after counseling a woman in a crisis pregnancy to save her child I took her in to my home, fed her, clothed her, provided shelter, etc.

and here’s an organization that is clearly prolife that seeks a “positive” solution:
Right to Life Michigan is the organization in the US that pioneered the use of “softer” images in their successful pro-life television ads billboards and radio spots. Despite the group’s emphasis on the gentler approach, however, Pamela Sherstad director of public information at RTL Michigan told LifeSiteNews.com that the use of shocking images of aborted children has its proper place.
“We use them. We have them on the website and we give a warning for people who do want to see the reality of abortion. It does tell the truth of what happens: when abortion occurs, an innocent human life is destroyed.” Sherstad said.

And in keeping with the tradition with this thread, someone will attack you for doing that, and tell you “There must be another way.”

Isn’t an abortionist a mass murderer??
I used your words - you specifically asked about scenarios with a “mass murderer”. I answered you. I said I wouldn’t expose young children to the graphic evidence from any of the killings (of the born or pre-born).
What would you do? You say we shouldn’t this or that, but what you do. Torturing the abortionists family is immoral and an amuzing aside from what we are talking about. What would YOU do?
My illustration of one tactic to fight abortion (torture an abortionists family) was used to make the point that not every potential anti-abortion tactic is a good thing. It’s not an aside.

I discussed a few things I’ve done in post #290.

However, this thread was about the concept of protest signs. The things I have done or not done don’t affect whether the indiscriminate use of graphic abortion pics is a good idea. Just because I don’t have a child of my own doesn’t mean I can’t speak out against a parent beating his child - even if he tells me I have no right to talk since I don’t discipline any children of my own.

Actually, it’s a “positive” example such as many here have been requesting.

This method isn’t for everyone, but I was in a position to afford it. I had a good job and I had an extra room in my home.

This experience also taught my daughter that I would, indeed, give the shirt off my back and put my money where my mouth is to help. So that later when she had an unlplanned pregnancy I didn’t have to say a word, but had shown through example that I would support her 100%.

It would seem difficult to compare graphic photos to that of torturing an abortionists family. Do you believe the relative morality is even remotely equal?

No. My wife and I went that way one time, and there are serious pitfalls. We’ll be much more careful in the future.

I have always told my daughters, no matter what happens, we’re on your side. I think that helped my oldest when she refused the amneocentisis for what was thought to be Down’s Syndrome in our oldest grand daughter.

Vern you are the one who does the attacking. Sprout’s approach to ending abortion is highly commendable. I would like to think that that is the same approach I would take given the opportunity.

Given the opportunity?!?!

Why don’t you take the opportunity?

The point was NOT to compare which is “worse” - so don’t say it was. The point was that some tactics are good and some are bad. I specifically wrote that out for you:

“My illustration of one tactic to fight abortion (torture an abortionists family) was used to make the point that not every potential anti-abortion tactic is a good thing. It’s not an aside.”
(emphasis added)

Yes, unfortunately, some tactics are bad such as your example of torturing an abortionsts family. Not only bad, but probably ineffective as well. The public display of signs, however, are both a good tactic and an effective one.

Because I disagree with the graphic images does not, in any way, mean I do no work towards ending abortion. To imply such is certainly uncharitable and offensive.
