Opening page says: *To all the precious souls in the Roman Catholic Church who may be where I was for most of my life, believing I was on my way to heaven, but according to the Bible, destined for an eternity without Christ. May the Love Catholics have for the Lord Jesus Christ compel them to seek Him through His Word, the most trustworthy authority for knowing truth from error. May those who have been blinded by the traditions of men forsake all efforts to save themselves and come to Jesus with empty hands of faith. May God be glorified as He reveals Himself to those who seek the truth. *
Wow…
You might ask why I have this book, as a Catholic.
My quick recap-
I was dating a non-denominational girl, who I loved, and still find it hard to not having feelings for her…but its the lack of compatibility for the longrun that has ended our relationship over religion. 6 months ago, she brought up the “unevenly yolked” passage… and for 6 months, sites like Catholic Answers and other apologetic sites have been incredibly helpful to me. Yes, my life isn’t free of pain, but I truly feel empowered by knowledge, and love being a stronger Catholic today than 1.5 years ago.
So… 10 days ago we broke up. We’ve been arguing over her thoughts on Catholisim being wrong, she quote the Bible left and right, and now she has this book. A thin 180 page book about a Catholic of 37 years who walked away.
I haven’t cracked the spin yet… but I’m already not liking what the author Mike Gendron is saying.
Has anyone else come across this book?
Would anyone else like to help me disect it?
(I once hoped if she became Catholic we’d get back together…that is not the purpose anymore, though I might love to if it makes sense.) I’ve been learning so much about my faith, but not defending it against a full blown anti-catholic book isn’t going to be easy.
God Bless everyone!
