My mistake on that one.
**Your primary point is exactly correct! The US is becoming more & more like Europe, especially in the acceptance of anti-Christian & anti-Catholic sentiments, laws & policies!

Actually, you are also partially correct on the European nations anti-Catholic bias.

While Britain & other European countries retain their distinct heritages, they are tied together far more closely than the US, Canada & Mexico because of the EU!

“The EU has developed a single market through a standardized system of laws which apply in all member states,” (wikipedia)**

Sancta Maria, Mater Dei, Ora Pro Nobis Peccatoribus!

Will the U.S. socialist descent create the same sentiment as in Europe towards Catholics?

Once a person starts making excuses that it is not that great an evil to excuse the killing of the most innocent on demand, the slope steepens and gets harder to reverse.

I am afraid stopping this descent is in the hands of Catholics who support the pro death party.

Anyone else see it this way?
It could be seen that way, which is why we must fight the pro-death agenda at every turn, and we must explain why it is so crucial to the health of our country, of our very souls.

I can’t wait for it!
I will even help them put the nose around my neck!
WOW! A martyrs death… what a blessing that would be!

Peace!👍

I don’t understand this. The title of the thread is misleading and the news article is really an opinion column.

Do a google search for “britain’s reaction to the pope”.

The reaction is an opinion?

I posted this because I believe the direction we are currently headed is on par with the article of being anti Catholic. If we keep going in this direction I can see the Pope being treated that way in places here as well.

What does being “socialist” have to do with killing innocents on demand or being anti-Catholic? (The article doesn’t mention socialism but it does imply that anti-Catholcism is a sign of being “left-wing”.)

Some socialists/left-wingers are or have been anti-Catholic and pro-death. Some right-wingers also are or have been anti-Catholic and pro-death. Some centrists also are or have been anti-Catholic and pro-death. Many members of all three political groups are neither anti-Catholic nor pro-death. So don’t confuse the issues here.

Actually, Britain’s reaction to the Pope, once he actually arrived in Edinburgh yesterday, was pretty positive. The police were fearing large amounts of protests but hardly any turned up. The vast majority of the crowds gathering were there in support of the Pope.

On the other hand though, Britain is a predominantly atheist nation now, despite the fact that 70% listed their faith as Christian in the last census. Atheists are getting much more media time than they used to. I do believe in the separation of church and state, but I also believe people should be allowed to practice their religion peacefully. However, atheism’s increasingly loud and angry voice is giving it all the appearance of fanaticism that it believes religious people have.

Individual conservatives MAY be anti-Catholic. I don’t personally know any. But we can not be pro-death and still be true ‘conservative.’

Cafeteria conservatives exist, just as Caf Caths. We call them RINOS.

All these are signs that the End Times fast approach.
l live in Briatin and the bias against Catholics is not always so apparent, but with the arrival of the Pope, it’s become as clear as crystal that Catholism is not liked by the majority of people here, either Anglicans, Protestants or atheists.
Even the BBC had a week long smear campaign against the Pope and the Church, trying to belittle our faiths and traditions as archaic and suspiciously secretive.

False. Catholicism is not liked by us English in the main, and for reasons. You can tell that because we are mainly not catholics. Just like we are mainly not muslims, hindus, scientologists, communists, fascists, socialists, anglicans, drug addicts etc. For most, the only crutch is telly, tobacco and alcohol. There is no anti-catholicism here that I am aware of (England) just a very healthy general suspicion as with the other ideologies and snake-oil solutions.

The BBC is, after 13 years of Tony Blair and his nulabour, staffed mainly by his socialists who therefore preomote their biases and agendas. This is not representative of ordinary Brits, We couldnt care less and always take agenda promotions with a large pinch of salt thats why we have not revolted for so long.

Oh yeah, got insider knowledge have we ?

I hope the sun sahines upon your head of state and that he has pleasant visit.

Other snake oil solutions? It sounds like you are trying to say this as if you are talking for most Brits?

Of course not, since many brits follow many ideologies. However, most of my aquaintances over time, have appeared to be moderate of habit and outlook and yet sceptical of the state, religions and media. That is not to say faithless or all of one mind, Yet my muslim and hindu workmates are more outward in their beliefs. It is my experience that generally, ones faith is a matter for reserve in public.

So. many. generalizations. so .many.false. premises.

Would you all relax already!

One could equally say that one cannot be pro-death and still be a true “liberal” in the best sense of the term.

Giuliani and Schwarzenegger spring to mind as prominent right-wingers in your country who are pro-death.

Lincoln Chaffee and Arnold Schwarzenegger are examples of RINOS that readily come to mind.

How about Goldwater, though? He paid for a granddaughter’s abortion and supported gays in the military. That’s more harder to figure out, ain’t it???

Personally, I have no problem saying Goldwater ceased to be true conservative when he espoused those positions. How about anyone here?

Goldwater’s actions can easily be explained. Goldwater was a libertarian. He was always pro abortion. I believe his wife sat on the Board of Directors of Planned Parenthood of Arizona.

Goldwater is not and has never been my favorite example of a conservative.

What “false premises” would ye be talking about, kind sir???

Likewise “generalizations,” forsooth?
Madam, actually.

I’m talking about sweeping generalizations of Britain being anti-Catholic, and the conflating of Britain and Europe being a false premise.

And give over with the forsooth business, I’m British, not medieval!
