Are there any Protestant donominations that are strongly anto-catholic and should avoid?
Strongly anti-Catholic as in vitriolic towards the Catholic Church itself, or strongly anti-Catholic in that they disagree on numerous important questions? Are there any Protestant donominations that are strongly anto-catholic and should avoid?
Perhaps the better distinction is between those who hate what Catholics believe and those who hate what they think Catholics believe.Generally this phrasing implies against Catholicism as a concept or Church, rather than against specific teachings, though usually the former is also the latter.
Truer words, but plenty of Protestants do hate the Church over legitimate disagreement over practices like prayers to the saints, works involved in justification, etc.Well, I’ve oft heard it remarked that few people hate the Church what what she actually believes. Most of what uneducated Protestants know about the church comes from caricatures from the likes of Jack Chick, so it’d be hard to say any of them actually hate the Church based on her teachings.
Certainly agree with this. I took the question as meaning avoiding the churches, not avoiding their members. In my opinion, you shouldn’t necessarily avoid these people, as they need to see — thru your genuine Christian life and values — that Catholics aren’t the “Mary worshipping”, “Saint worshipping ” “Pope-worshipping” non-Christians that some believe Catholics are. But you need to have a thick skin and be ready to correct misconceptions if you want to go that route.
How is this a misconception? Pretty sure this is a thing. Not a bad thing, but a thing. Or am I misunderstanding something?pray to saints
Former SDA married to a Catholic here. My mom and a number of family is still SDA and they don’t seem anti Catholic. In fact I didn’t even know we were fiercely anti-catholic. At first I didn’t understand why the priest was talking about love bringing together “even a catholic and 7th Day Adventist” during the ceremony.but the fiercest ones I’ve met so far seem to come from the following:
Seventh-Day Adventists (SDA)
That is my understanding:The Assyrian Church of the East is the Nestorian Church, correct?
