100 Protesters Disrupt Sunday Mass

MEXICO CITY, NOV. 19, 2007 - The cathedral of Mexico City closed its doors last weekend, after more than 100 political protesters disrupted Sunday Mass.

The decision was announced the same day by Armando Martínez, the president of the College of the Catholic Lawyers of Mexico, who said that the cathedral will not open again until the government can guarantee the security of the faithful and priests.

During the midday Mass at the cathedral Sunday, a group of members of the leftist Party of the Democratic Revolution (PRD) interrupted the liturgy chanting slogans supporting Andrés Manuel López Obrador, the 2006 presidential candidate who lost by a slim margin to Felipe Calderón. López Obrador contested the results, raising allegations of electoral fraud, and proclaimed himself the “legitimate president” of Mexico.

Until the government can do the security? Excuse me while I laugh for fifteen minutes before I come back and finish this post.

… OK, I’m back, sorry about that.

They’re talking about the MEXICAN government doing something? Something involving security? Not gonna happen. The Mexican government can’t get a grip on their own country in any way shape or form. I think protecting the Churches is pretty low on their list, unfortunatly.

Should have mentioned that the only thing the Mexican officials can guaruntee security on are the illegal drug shipments north to the US.

Perhaps if Catholics start warehousing cocaine in Church basements, THEN the Mexican government will do something meanginful.

Anti-clericalism is really coming out in full view again (always there just tried to hide itself). If history has taught us anything it’s about to get worse:(

This is typical of the Socialist/Marxist mentality. Violent opposition (especially to religion) is encouraged.

I am so grieved. Last month I went on a pilgrimage to Guadalupe that included a visit to this beautiful cathedral. One thing I noticed throughout the visit to Mexico City was the quiet piety of the people. At the basilica of Guadalupe, thousands came – often on foot, sometimes on thier knees – and yet I did not see many men or women in clerical garb. I asked and was told that there were indeed priests and nuns present, but there was so much anti-clericalism in the country that, even at Guadalupe, Mexican religious kept a low profile.

It breaks my heart.

Go figure, they have had liberal (masonic) presidents since the 1820s, very anticlerical. Think France’s version of “democracy” which means FREEDOM FROM THE CHURCH! Yep that’s democracy alright. The genius of the American system is that it kept Christians honest so speak. Goes to show you that when a nation abandons Christian principles that it’s destined for failure. I’ve hated liberalism for the longest time. My dad hates it too. 😃

It’s the same in Mexico and the U.S., and elsewhere. Catholics are not defensive of their faith in choosing their political leaders.

Which is exactly why a lawless country like Mexico needs a strong leader in the mold of Spain’s Francisco Franco or South Vietnam’s Ngo Dinh Diem. Both of these devout Catholics annihilated marxism in their territories.

Catholic fathers and mothers should make sure that their sons (and daughters, too) take up martial arts.

Of course, self-defense training should be conducted in conjunction with prayers for the conversion of all enemies of the Faith, and with instruction in how to spread the one true religion through informed discussion.

All our enemies are potential Catholics: that’s an additional reason for loving them.

Let’s pray to Our Lady of Guadalupe for our brothers and sisters in Mexico.

Keep and spread the Faith.

Exactly!

I was told by three people already that there are groups in Mexico which are bringing it to the point of a socialist revolution much as what Chavez has been doing in Venezuela. In fact, his groups are working politically in Mexico itself so that this occurs. We have some big problems down there. I think it would be in our best interest to work with the Mexican government to make sure such plans are thwarted - BECAUSE if you think there are border problems now, wait until millions start coming over because of persecution. THEN what?

If a Socialist regime comes to power in Mexico and millions of asylum seekers flood across the border, the US will have little choice but to take them in. I can see the government setting up spanish speaking enclaves (whole towns and neighborhoods) mainly in the southwest but in other regions as well.

We haven’t seen anything yet. I think that eventually God will intervene and say “ENOUGH”, and give us a REAL GOOD SPANKING! Just my opinion.

No suprise here.

Once Mexico turns red, the great experiment of NAFTA will be one for the history books. And we’ll have to hermetically seal our souther border, however much of our tax dollars it would take, maybe even a military draft in order to get the boots needed to secure it.

Indeed. 👍

I do think at times that we are a bunch of disobedient children who know our parents are coming and we are in deep trouble. Thus we figure to get as much fun as possible before they arrive figuring that we can’t be in any worse trouble.

Yeah, it’s like Father John Corapi said, sometimes we need to be hit on the head with a 2 x 4.

Amen! Bottom line is that the government of Mexico and many South American countries is getting progressively more Socialist in the last few years while nobody is looking. Look at what Hugo Chavez is doing in Venezuela for example. Bottom line is that the Socialists are not big fans of religion.

Don’t be shocked when this knocks on our own door here in the not to distant future. We have already had homosexuals in San Fran desecrating the Mass, and there is a movement in Congress among the more Socialist elements to revoke the tax exemption of any Church that speaks of government or government issues.

Long live the Pope!
