Sounds like the sisters should be investigated. If theyâre doing nothing wrong, no problem.
Unfortunately, since Vatican II, nuns and sisters (yes, thereâs a difference) have split off into two groups. Those who remained faithful to their ordersâ charism and the Church. And those who gave themselves over to the world. Theyâre almost always easily distinguishable in public.
The latter group, for the most part, have chucked their habits in favor of street clothes. Sometimes, they even deign to wear a little cross. How nice. The former group, however, have chosen to retain their habits, giving example to the world that they are in the world, but no longer of the world.
The article, by the way, is full of inaccuracies and maybe lies (canât determine if the inaccuracies were on purpose, so I put the âmaybeâ in there). The bishop in Arizona didnât excommunicate anyone. The nun who participated in the abortion of a baby by giving her permission as administrator of the hospital excommunicated herself, latae sententiae. It was an automatic thing. No declaration by the bishop or anyone else was required.
I think itâs time we cleaned up the Church. Get rid of the pedophiles (very, very few percentage-wise), those who refuse to accept all of the Churchâs teaching, those who think the Church should change to meet the ever-changing demands of âthe worldâ (such as ordaining women, accepting birth control, etc.), and all the others who really donât acknowledge the Catholic Church as the Body of Christ, but, like Eve, want to be gods themselves. Excommunicate 'em all. Hit the road Jack. IF they repent, then the doorâs wide open. Otherwise, theyâre being done a very uncharitable thing by being lied to about where they stand.
