Here’s one that I read a month or so again. It tries to discredit Christianity in general, not necessarily Catholicism. Here’s the logic.
Isaiah 7:14 reads “Therefore the Lord himself shall give you a sign. Behold a virgin shall conceive, and bear a son, and his name shall be called Emmanuel.”
This is clearly a reference to the Virgin Mary giving birth to Christ, right? According to these people, no. And why is that? Because, they say, Christ’s name isn’t “Emmanuel.” It’s “Jesus”! Not only does this prove that Christ wasn’t the Messiah, but it also proves that Mary was not a virgin! Because if she was, as prophesied by the passage in Isaiah, then clearly she would have named her son Emmanuel. But she didn’t - she named him Jesus!
I was rolling with laughter.
