I am saying that they are ‘dishonest’ because they claim to be Non-Denominational, when in fact, they ARE a demonation. In fact a denomination of Protestantism.
Non-denom doesn’t mean what you think it means. Non-denom is not one particular denom it is many. We welcome ALL… catholic, penticostal, baptist… you name it they are welcome under one roof. How do you name this? NON-DENOMINATIONAL!
Are you saying that my claims are untrue, or just the you are bothered by the claims?
They are untrue. You say we are dishonest I say take the plank out of your own eye before you look at my splinter…
You may be bothered, but if it’s true, it’s true, right?
Could be, but your claims ain’t true…
What about my world, that you know of, is ‘Catholic Only’? I don’t get it.
Let’s see, saying we don’t have churches because catholics are the ONLY one… The church is universal (catholic) including all followers of Christ.
If there was only one church founded by Christ, and by definition, that is what makes it a ‘church’, what is untrue about my comments? Please clarify this for me.
The ONE TRUE CHURCH is the Universal Church led by Christ. We are ALL followers of Christ no matter how much this bothers anti-protestant catholics…
You may call it a church, but is it a ‘true church’? Was your church, or non-church, or whatever, founded by a man, or by our Lord and Savior? And in my ‘Catholic Only’ world, He’s also your Lord and Savor, btw. Please, embrace the fullness of Him.
Christ is my Lord, Savior, Teacher, and Love. He is everything to me and if that ain’t fullness then whatever… You say He is my Lord and Savior in your world but you don’t even give me the respect of calling my church a ‘church’… Please, don’t patronize me. Tell me what you really think. I can take it.
While you may be offended, I hope that it’s opening up your eyes to the comments that I’m making. While mine may be new words to you, yours are not new words to me.
You don’t open my eyes. Your comments only close my ears and eyes to whatever you have to say because the love is lost in the translation. Either that or it’s not there at all.

Non-denom doesn’t mean what you think it means. Non-denom is not one particular denom it is many. We welcome ALL… catholic, penticostal, baptist… you name it they are welcome under one roof. How do you name this? NON-DENOMINATIONAL!
To-may-to, to-mah-to. It’s a DENOMINATION. It’s unlike the others (or so it wants to be), yet, it’s PROTESTANT. It can’t be CATHOLIC. All may be welcome in the doors, but it’s still a separate sect.
They are untrue. You say we are dishonest I say take the plank out of your own eye before you look at my splinter…
Splinter or plank: tell me what exactly you claim I’ve stated that is untrue, and let’s discuss that, please.
Let’s see, saying we don’t have churches because catholics are the ONLY one… The church is universal (catholic) including all followers of Christ.
But are you truly following Christ if you are not part of the church that Christ founded? Are you, instead, following a person?

This isn’t a statement, but an earnest question for you to try to answer.

And, if the ‘church’ you are following wasn’t created, founded, established by Christ, is it really a church? Or is it a gathering place with people that talk about Christ?
Christ is my Lord, Savior, Teacher, and Love. He is everything to me and if that ain’t fullness then whatever… You say He is my Lord and Savior in your world but you don’t even give me the respect of calling my church a ‘church’… Please, don’t patronize me. Tell me what you really think. I can take it.
I don’t know. It looks like I’ve already riled you up quite a bit. It wasn’t intentional, either. Just expressing myself in anonymity.

And no, I’ve never said that Christ was not your Lord and Savior. In fact didn’t I post that that he was? (I can’t go back that far, so I may be going on what I planned to type)

Would you feel better if I referred to your ‘church’ a ‘church’? Wouldn’t that be dishonest of me, if I didn’t see it as such? Wouldn’t it be more insulting to post ‘church’ rather than simply sect or group?
You don’t open my eyes. Your comments only close my ears and eyes to whatever you have to say because the love is lost in the translation. Either that or it’s not there at all.
I’m sorry to hear that.

But since you are on a Pro-Catholic website, didn’t you expect some one here to be Catholic and proud of it?

Sheesh guys! Take it easy.

“Officially”, by definition, there cannot be a non-denominational denomination, since the moment they assumed the trappings of an organization beyond their own walls, they would actually become a defacto denomination.

I guess another word for non-denoms would be “independents”?

What say you SB? 🙂

(P.S. How does this relate to anti-Catholicism?)

To-may-to, to-mah-to. It’s a DENOMINATION. It’s unlike the others (or so it wants to be), yet, it’s PROTESTANT. It can’t be CATHOLIC. All may be welcome in the doors, but it’s still a separate sect.
No, it encompasses ALL denoms. Maybe it should be called the All-Denomination Church, I dunno. But they chose non-denom. 🤷 What we try to do is take down the walls to worship God in one place. To meet together with Him and praise Him. Why catholics get their undergarments all up in a twirl about this is beyond me…
Splinter or plank: tell me what exactly you claim I’ve stated that is untrue, and let’s discuss that, please.
I already stated what you said was untrue. Your version of what a non-denom is was false and us being dishonest is far from true…
But are you truly following Christ if you are not part of the church that Christ founded? Are you, instead, following a person?
So, I don’t follow Christ… There you have it…

Ahem, I am following the Church Christ founded. The Universal (catholic) Church. The Church of Christ’s believers. His Holy Bride. But since you don’t believe this I guess we will have to wait and see…
This isn’t a statement, but an earnest question for you to try to answer.
No it isn’t… Telling someone who has a heart for God that they actually don’t follow Christ but some person is absolutely abnoxiously untrue and rude. I don’t go around saying you worship statues, do I? Catholics scream and scream that they do not worship statues and get so frustrated when a protestant or one of their own says they do… There is nothing I can do to convince you that I follow Christ and Him alone. I don’t wanna scream so I will leave it here.
And, if the ‘church’ you are following wasn’t created, founded, established by Christ, is it really a church? Or is it a gathering place with people that talk about Christ?
I have already addressed this above…
I don’t know. It looks like I’ve already riled you up quite a bit. It wasn’t intentional, either. Just expressing myself in anonymity.
Not riled, I am just passionate. I think it is a little intentional because no God fearin’ Christian would accuse another of not following Christ. I appreciate your concern, I really do. But could ya maybe ask me about my faith rather than make silly claims you don’t even know are true?
And no, I’ve never said that Christ was not your Lord and Savior. In fact didn’t I post that that he was? (I can’t go back that far, so I may be going on what I planned to type)
I know you said it. I didn’t say you didn’t. All I said is how could my Lord and Savior be Christ if I don’t follow Him (according to your assertion)? By saying I don’t follow Christ is like saying I reject Him and that my Faith is a lie. Which I know is not true.
Would you feel better if I referred to your ‘church’ a ‘church’? Wouldn’t that be dishonest of me, if I didn’t see it as such? Wouldn’t it be more insulting to post ‘church’ rather than simply sect or group?
I don’t want you to say anything that would make you feel uncomfortable. Look at the definition for church:

**Main Entry: 1church
Pronunciation: \ˈchərch\
Function: noun
Etymology: Middle English chirche, from Old English cirice, ultimately from Late Greek kyriakon, from Greek, neuter of kyriakos of the lord, from kyrios lord, master; akin to Sanskrit śūra hero, warrior
Date: before 12th century

1: a building for public and especially Christian worship
2: the clergy or officialdom of a religious body
3often capitalized : a body or organization of religious believers: as a: the whole body of Christians b: denomination c: congregation
4: a public divine worship
5: the clerical profession **

Nothing in there is soley catholic. But, I would like you to pray about this with God to soften your heart and to look at what your own catechism says. We ARE brothers and sisters in Christ.
I’m sorry to hear that.
Something tells me otherwise. 🙂
But since you are on a Pro-Catholic website, didn’t you expect some one here to be Catholic and proud of it?
You should be proud of it! Did I ever say otherwise? How did this happen when you are the one attacking MY Faith? Be proud of who you are in Christ and if you know you are on the path God created for you that is wonderful. Rejoice in that as I do. 😃

Sheesh guys! Take it easy.

“Officially”, by definition, there cannot be a non-denominational denomination, since the moment they assumed the trappings of an organization beyond their own walls, they would actually become a defacto denomination.

Hey CM!!! Haven’t seen you in a while. I am ok… no worries. It may seem like I am getting riled but its more passion than anything. I just don’t like people calling my faith a lie.

See my def for non-denom above. Its not about being individual, its about bringing all together. 😃

No, it encompasses ALL denoms. Maybe it should be called the All-Denomination Church, I dunno. But they chose non-denom. 🤷 What we try to do is take down the walls to worship God in one place. To meet together with Him and praise Him. Why catholics get their undergarments all up in a twirl about this is beyond me…
By your description, isn’t that another denomination? I don’t get why you don’t want to accept that it is another denomination…another branch.

Is it Baptist? No. Is it Methodist? No. Is it Lutheran? No… Since it’s NOT the same as the others, it is different.

Or does same = different where you are coming from? Perhaps only on this topic.
I already stated what you said was untrue. Your version of what a non-denom is was false and us being dishonest is far from true…
Yes. You said what I stated was untrue. I said it was truth. Your turn.
So, I don’t follow Christ… There you have it…
Why do you say that you don’t follow Christ? Is it because you don’t have the Sacraments that He instituted? Is it because you don’t have the apostolic succession? C’mon, you can tell us. Why do you say you don’t follow Christ?
Ahem, I am following the Church Christ founded. The Universal (catholic) Church. The Church of Christ’s believers. His Holy Bride. But since you don’t believe this I guess we will have to wait and see…
True that!
Your church was founded by a man. Rather, founded by MEN. There is historical evidence to substantiate this. Many Protestant sects are even named for their founders (Lutherans, Calvinists, etc). Do you not agree with these comments? What is untrue about what I’ve stated? And since they are not following the Catholic church, that makes them a denomination, doesn’t it? Since the Catholic church was the church founded by Christ?

You have NO evidence of any one worshipping statues or any of the other things that you (thankfully) didn’t accuse Catholics of. It wasn’t out of being polite. But because it’s untrue.
But could ya maybe ask me about my faith rather than make silly claims you don’t even know are true?
I won’t do that. I have no questions for you at this time. I have stated that Non-Denominational is just the name for another Denomination. You say that’s not true. We have an impasse. I won’t budge, and from the look of things, you won’t either.
I know you said it. I didn’t say you didn’t. All I said is how could my Lord and Savior be Christ if I don’t follow Him (according to your assertion)? By saying I don’t follow Christ is like saying I reject Him and that my Faith is a lie. Which I know is not true.
Your making ‘like saying’ comments for things that I haven’t said.

Can we keep it to tangibles?
I don’t want you to say anything that would make you feel uncomfortable. Look at the definition for church:
This is ONE definition. I am not going to c/p a definition. I explained already why I prefer to not use the term. I’m not ready to budge.

Perhaps if this was some other forum, or some other topic, I would. But for now, I’m digging in my heels.
Nothing in there is soley catholic. But, I would like you to pray about this with God to soften your heart and to look at what your own catechism says. We ARE brothers and sisters in Christ.
Yes, we are. Thank God.

I don’t think that the point of my comments were to exclude or insult any one, even if that was the unplanned outcome. However, I do not agree that a ‘Non-Denominational’ is anything other than another Denomination of Protestants.

Yes, Catholics may be welcomed in your doors, but can a Catholic receive the Sacraments in those doors? Does a Catholic have the Papal Authority where you are? Does a Catholic have the traditions of the church (by ‘church’, I mean Catholic)? If not, they are not getting in your house of worship what they can get in a Catholic church, and that’s because it’s not Catholic.

While you may be a very nice person (and I believe that you probably are) you don’t realize what you are not getting by not being in a Catholic church.

Despite what I may say, or how much I may even offend you (intentionally or not), the truth is in there.
