Referring to Arabs as savages is a Judeo-Christian value? Sorry, such hate speech is not representative of the American or Catholic values I know of.
UGH, what a tasteless ad campaign. Disgusting- and typical.

This garbage shouldn’t be plastered in any city.

Gross and unbecoming on so many levels. . .

That’s a tough one. On the one hand, I don’t like the message the maps send, which is not one of peace and harmony as the organization claims to be in favor of; on the other hand, there is no use of inflammatory language such as the anti-Arab ad which calls Arabs savages. It’s a concise history lesson with many details omitted. So I would, reluctantly, have to allow it as legal free speech. The message is not in good taste, however, and probably should also be removed.

The Islamic faith is not something to be promoted as an equal to christianity… it needs to be assimilated and kept in very manageable numbers…)
So you actually typed that. Thanks God that most do not share your views here.

It completely ignores several key facts including Israel’s history of land ownership before 1948, the commitment of Israel’s desire for a two state solution, and Israel’s willingness to give up lands won in defensive wars for peace. IMO, these billboards are deliberately misleading and biased portraying Israel as the aggressor when in fact this land was acquired by Israel when they were attacked by the Arab League. If it’s not fair to describe those who practice Jihad against Israel as savage’s, how is it fair to imply that Israel stole land?

Will you also condemn these anti Israel billboards allowed by the very same MTA?
I condemn any public advertisements showing anti-religious or anti-national bias. Have Catholics forgotten that there are those who condemn us as “holy cracker worshipers”?

However, I also very much support 1st Amendment rights, and as much as I abhor anti-Moslem, anti-semitic, or anti-Catholic ads and publications, I tolerate their display.

You are off-topic. If you want to argue history, start a new thread. The subject of this thread is bias against Moslems and Jews…

I know some fundamentalists who believe pretty much the same thing about Catholicism. I’m sure you’d say that’s different.

Just look at examples of what an extreme Catholic behaves like (ie. Pope John Paul, Mother Teresa, etc…) and what an extreme islamist behaves like and I think it’s obvious why there’s a need to regulate one faith but not the other.

You have a good point and I find it difficult to argue with you. It’s the use of the word “savage” that strikes me as inflammatory speech in the anti-Arab ad; but the implication that Israel stole land is also unfair. The question, as Rich states, is how far does the first amendment extend to protect freedom of speech, even hate speech in the form of advertisements and billboards that we may find repugnant.

I think its about time ads like these came out to expose the evil. I’ll fight for Israel no problem.

Ms. Geller’s intellectual hero** Ayn Rand, reads: “In any war between the civilized man and the savage, support the civilized man.” Then, between two Stars of David, the tag line appears: “Support Israel. Defeat Jihad.”**

Anti-Islamic ad claiming “it’s not Islamophobia, it’s Islamorealism” goes up in NY train stations

I hope people do not allow themselves to be influenced by these hatred propaganda campaigns nor the others prepared by the pro-war think tanks to promote hatred, war and destruction of the Arabians, Persians, Palestinians and Muslims. I hope people will pause long enough to recognize that we are speaking of human beings just like me and you.

Praying for peace.

Meh… if you mean racist as in islamists killing or subjugating ppl that islamists do… then I agree.
No, I mean referring to all Arabs as “savages.” But don’t let facts get in the way of paranoid delusions of “evil” Arabs hiding in every bush and lurking around every corner. BOO! :bigyikes: You know, the real tragedy of September 11, 2001 isn’t that 3,000 people died; its that the event has become a rallying point for racists and Islamophobes to drum up support for Ayn Rand’s work and create a culture of hatred and bigotry in this country against Arabs and Muslims. This kind of stuff was considered unacceptable in the mainstream before then but I’m not so sure it is now and I was surprised to find support for it here.

sigh

Some people want to learn what the term jihad REALLY means according to the real and peaceful teachings of Islam.

Actual holy war is a LESSER form of jihad. The Prophet Muhammad (saw) said ipon returning from battle ‘we have returned from the lesser jihad of fighting against the enemy to the greater jihad of fighting against our own soul’. Striving to do the will of Allah against the lures of our worldly desires is the HIGHER jihad.

I heard previously that the word “jihad” has more than one meaning. Thanks for explaining this.
