Gosh, I've read tons of anti-Protestant stuff in these forums.
When I have appealed - often - for a more ecumenical approach in the Christian world, my position usually is dismissed here because there is only 'one true church'. Some posters seem to spend most of their time admonishing, debunking, scolding, and attacking Protestantism. There appears to be a deep bitterness in some, when what we need is better understanding and earnest efforts to find reconciliation. Too many Catholics and Protestants feel that reconciliation demands surrender.
What I keep proposing (and it is ignored or gets a very cold reception) is a 'big tent' Christianity where Catholics, Protestants and Eastern Orthodox don't need to give up their distinctive doctrines and practices, but live in an atmosphere of mutual acceptance and respect. As long as this or that group of Christians believe that they alone are right and all other Christians must accept their views exclusively you will have only prejudice, ignorance, and alienation.
