Anti-Semitism may have played a role in the torture and murder of a young Jewish man who was kidnapped and held for ransom, French authorities said yesterday. Ilan Halimi, 23, was found naked, handcuffed and covered with burn marks last week near railroad tracks in the Essonne region south of Paris. Six men and a woman were put under investigation yesterday for a plot to kidnap and kill on religious, racial or ethnic motives. A total of 13 people may be involved.
