Do you even know what Yukito actually is?

And frankly, I hate yaoi. Each time guys like you accuse me of homosexuality, I feel tempted to pull something out of the darker parts of my mind that will prove the complete opposite.

Now who’s the one in denial?

Ah yes, Rome. One of the greatest conquering empires in the world. So tell me, how far did the empires of your examples reach? By the way, last time I checked, Turkey’s part of Europe as well. 😉

Church =/= Europe.

Christ Himself was a Jew.

Our faith originated from the Middle East, not Europe.

And for goodness sake, start your own thread if you want to proclaim the glory of Europe and how it seems to be divinely bound to the Church. I’m sure you’ll attract more who would like to contest you or is that what you’re afraid of?

The only point I see in Latin is either through church ceremony or as clippings for fictional magic spells.

You’re lucky that the Church was the only good thing that the Spaniards gave us or I would have cursed Magellan’s arrival in its entirety.

Now, please, if you know what’s good for this thread, you’d start your own.
I never denied that Europeans at one time had a lower AoC, it’s common knowledge about that, but all of the world had it. You stood up for the homosexual relationships as being “moral”, while they are completely immoral. Turkey isn’t part of Europa, nor is it Turkey, it’s the eastern part of the Roman empire, stolen by invaders from near Mongolia. The Church is based on Latin ideals, and the Latin language, and is centered in Rome. That’s not going to change, the church won’t move from Rome and drop Latin ideals and languages because you think Europeans aren’t worthy of it. The Church is built to not change traditions. You’re probably better off as a Protestant if you think Latin is horrible and that the Church shouldn’t be based in Rome(which is part of Europa).

To get a little closer to the topic: are there any saints particularly suitable to remember while praying for the creators of the show or for its fans (or for both)? I did think of St. Luke (patron saint of artists) and I guess that (given the discussion) St. Thomas Aquinas might be worth remembering too… Any other ideas…?

Yet you decry pedophilia and uphold Europe as if it were some glorious, God-sent exception from the rule. I’d ask you to clarify yourself but then again, don’t.

Instead, I’ll keep asking you to stop derailing this thread and take your pro-European proclamations elsewhere.

You accuse me of this when all I said was that you’re over-analyzing a piece of fiction that you have never read nor watched as I have.

Yeah, that’s says enough about you on this thread. I repeat: Take your views elsewhere.

Tell that to the European Union.

Europe is no more worthy than Asia, North and South America, Africa, Australia, or even Antarctica for all I care. You forget the origin of the word Catholic.

So much for all the hard work of CAF apologists.

Oh on the contrary, I value Latin just fine. It’s in the same rank as any other language of the world… despite the fact that it’s dead. 😛

Now, do take your views on your own thread elsewhere.

You gonna pray for another season? 😛

I just discovered something amusing.

Civilization V is a strategy game for computers. In the game, the player takes the leadership of a historical civilization at around 4000 BC. The player then grows the civilization by developing the territory around his city, building new cities and controlling more territory, researching technologies and waging war to annex other cities and territory. There are multiple ways to win: cultural dominance, being the first to colonize another planet, having the majority of civilizations declare you the winner etc.

Anyway… the advantage of a computer game is that it is easy to produce mods which add content to the game. One popular form of a mod is to create new civilizations. Generally, these are historical in nature and reflect Earth. But not always.

Such as… the Principality of Equestria. :o

The Wonderbolt is Equestria’s unique unit and is roughly equivalent to WWII fighter plane.

The Recruiting Office is Equestria’s unique building and provides additional horses, as well as help increase production in the city in which it is built.

Judging from this screenshot, the names of the cities are clever. Manehattan, Las Pegasus, Canterlot etc.

And… judging from that screenshot, at some point in the future, the cities will be defended by mechanized infantry and nuclear missiles.

I don’t think I want to annoy the ponies.

ive seen that mod and in my opinion, it seems a little imbalanced. the -20% unhappieness is an ok if not a little simple of a civ perk, but that will allow that civ to expand earlier without having to build extra buildings to increase happieness.

also, the recruiting office with the wonderbolts (which instead of requireing the resorce of oil, will need a horse) will cause that civ to have a massive airforce which could pose problems in terms of balance on top of the extra expantion from the -20% unhappieness

At the moment it is probably more “profitable” to pray so that the moderators would only delete or move the “offtopic” posts without closing this thread… 🙂

A little more seriously, it would make sense to pray for more inspiration… Or, as the Liturgy of the Hours puts it, “…] that the works of [the artists] would give the world hope and joy” (of course, it’s a translation from the Lithuanian version in “Magnificat”; it might be that the English version - especially in the full Liturgy of the Hours - is somewhat different). 🙂

What posts? Yours was the only one I replied to. :D:o <–Obviously ignoring the very existence of off-topic posts.

Well, lemme just say I’ve got three siblings who are also hoping for one.
I just hope they’d watch in a separate room or something. -.-

Well, it’s about time; finally, Season One comes to DVD. Just about time for Christmas if one would pre-order it now…

can someone explain to me the appeal of this show? I am an 80s cartoon girl…I grew up with all the 80s cartoons…and honestly…I don’t like the new looks of the MLPs…but understand I am coming from… the 80s…when they were “normal” animation…when applejack, if she/he (is Applejack a boy or a girl!!!) spoke…didn’t sound like a cowgirl/cowboy…and didn’t wear a hat. I still have the three MLPs I had, which consists of two baby ponies and Applejack…most of their accessories have long ago been lost…or just misplaced.

(the animation just doesn’t appeal to me, I think that’s it)

That was me a few months ago. I’m still not crazy about the show, because like you I’m an 80’s kid, so I remember the original, and still love it. I think the whole feel of the original show was sweeter. Thr charactors weren’t in your face like the new ones are. And there are no humans in the new show:(
But I have warmed to the new show slightly.

All of the Mane 6 (Twilight Sparkle, Applejack, Pinkie Pie, Rarity, Rainbow Dash and Fluttershy) are female.

That still does not convince me to watch MLP. There’s still the issue of the rabid fans that needs to be dealt with decisively.
For what it’s worth…the negative behavior of fans are some reason why some people never get into Catholicism or even Christianity. 😉

Anyway I finally watched the show for the first time a few weeks ago. I haven’t caught up since something else on Netflix is commanding my attention. But I’ll get back to it.

It IS very much a show for children. But I appreciate the…tropeyness of the show and all of the lampshades placed lovingly upon it. I can see why fans of pop culture and the genre savvy enjoy it.

I think the biggest surprise was how I reacted to the characters. I’m kinda tomboyish (though more in the vein of Applejack than Rainbow Dash) so naturally I thought I’d find the girly ponies less relatable. But Rarity is very interesting to me. Often you see vanity and selfishness go hand in hand because for the vain, their appearance must be preserved at all costs and at the expense of others. But in this show it’s the “pretty girl” that is known for being generous.

The episode where she sews the dresses for the other girls for the gala actually…got to me a little. I’m a knitter and I tend to knit more for others than myself. That episode reminded me of the sleepless nights before Christmas while I worked to get everything done on time…all the while praying that the gifts would be appreciated if not loved (I once knitted 11 sweaters in a year for Christmas…yes I was crazy and childless). Then with the other ponies said their “Well…it’s nice but…” Rarity nervously said she would remake the dresses and then spent more sleepless nights working on them I was all “SOMEBODY WRITING THIS SHOW UNDERSTANDS!!!” because I’ve totally been that person before. 😊

So what should be done about the problem of the rabid fans? Ignoring them would not solve it.
