It also teaches things like “Let’s believe in things not because we understand them, but because they just FEEL right!”
I am referring to the episode when Pinkie Pie’s body twitches as a warning sign to catastrophic events. That can be doubly misconstrued as “That is how faith works” (Christian values) or “Do whatever FEELS right” (Post-modernist societal values).
To be honest it’s the first time I hear such interpretation of this episode. It struck me as very “pro-faith” when I watched it, and I know many other people think the same. Some people were even very “mad” about this :D.
The moral of the episode was “There are wonderful things in this world you just can’t explain, but that doesn’t necessarily make them any less true. It just means that you have to choose to believe in them.”

I’m glad to hear that you find the show entertaining (even though Feeling Pinkie Keen is a pretty weak episode compared to some others)!

Well, the whole article (Walton Wood, “The Empirical Twilight: A Pony’s Guide to Science & Anarchism”, “ImageTexT: Interdisciplinary Comics Studies”, Vol. 6, Issue 1, english.ufl.edu/imagetext/archives/v6_1/wood/) has been written about that episode… I guess it might be a basis of a nice thread in the “Philosophy” subforum… 🙂

Anyway, while the episode did feel uncomfortably close to supporting superstition or pseudoscience, it doesn’t really support anything like that. I guess one of its morals would be “Things are under no obligation to be easy to research.”…

Thanks for sharing this article, it is very well written and interesting to read. However, I can’t help but feel that it was “a bit” over-analytical :).

I thoroughly enjoyed the article, but now I can’t help but start comparing Pinkie Pie to Guenther Gras’s Oskar Matzerath to a certain extent.

By the way, MPat, I love it that you live in Kaunas, Lithuania. I have been there twice and still want to go back to Lithuania. 👍

Glad to see this thread rolling along. Last time I posted, it took awhile before the thread became active again. Anyway, third season is almost near, for those who are lucky. Too bad here in the Philippines so far, the show hasn’t aired yet. There are rumors of Cartoon Network Philippines getting it, but so far it’s not confirmed.

And welcome to Pinkie Pie–it’s not hard to see you’re a fan. 😃 Pinkie’s my favorite Pony as well.

O my gosh I didn’t know there were Catholic bronies.BTW watched s3 EP 7 today:thumbsup:

So guys, what are the best ways to deal with the rabid MLP:FiM fans?

The same way you deal with trolls - just ignore them. Any rational discussion with them is impossible. Fortunately they are just the (vocal) minority. Please don’t judge the whole fandom by its rabid fans.

I recall talking to a sane and rational brony on FaceBook and he told me that the rabid fans are not a minority anymore but a group which is growing in numbers. o:

That is interesting, because I see less and less rabid fans. I guess it all depends on your luck (or lack of it) and what sites you visit. The important thing is to remember that not all MLP fans are like that.

its nice to see this forum come up again. so random thought, did anyone see the episode with the cloning pinkie pie.

now am i the only one who thought that it was kind of sick how twilight just murdered the clones.

In my case, it’s the lack of luck.
I know that not all MLP fans are like that. However, it seems that the rabid fans are fast becoming the rule and not the vocal exception. I’ve seen the rabid fans hijack anything MLP-related.

Well, I think that she just send them back to wherever they came from (the pool basically). I still have mixed feeling about this though.
hey all, ive made a new video and mlp is the feature. check it out and tell me what you think.

part 1

part 2
I think it is well done and I liked it very much but I have to disagree with your opinion on some ponies :D.

For example Rarity is not only a fashionista. She is too generous for her own good, she often fights with temptations and is probably a pony whose character was developed the most during the series. She is not perfect - in fact she has many flaws, but that makes her interesting (whereas RD’s flaws make her look like a jerk). What is also important is that IIRC Rarity is the only pony who figured out all lessons by herself and she realizes what she does wrong (and again, Rainbow Dash often needs to be told what the lesson is). I also admire her patience considering the fact that she has to deal with Sweetie Belle :).

PS you didn’t put any links in the description :).

i dont know, to me it kinda seemed like she blew them up into dust

all that is true, i kept it short and simple for my classes sake. it would have been to much to do an indepth character descreption on my already long video

also, fixed

Nice to see some bronies here! I love My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic because it’s one of the few entirely wholesome shows on TV right now, with a good emphasis on values and virtue.

It looked pretty weird at first, but I’m pretty certain she basically sent them back to their own alternate worlds. They wouldn’t have bothered showing the trail of “glowdust” moving back to the pool otherwise. I doubt the writers ever considered that Twilight was murdering Pinkie clones, though the animation did look controversial.

Female brony here! I know, I know, it doesn’t count because I’m a girl. But the only reason I even watched the show to start with was because all of my male late-20’s friends made me!
No, you still count. You’re just a Pegasister rather than a Brony.

That episode sent me into a flashback of undergraduate philosophy classes discussing human nature and stuff like that. 🙂
