any country music fans here???
Hey, I bet you’d really love both D.L. Menard and Nathan Abshire. Menard has the coolest voice, and he’s always compared with Hank Williams. Plus, he’s got killer accordion music in almost all of his songs. And Abshire was an incredibly moving accordionist. His music was the heart and soul of cajun - he was just a lovable dude. Both those guys are impossible to go wrong with; anything you see in a music store by either of them is bound to be top-notch. They’d fit in perfectly with your taste in C&W, which looks the same as mine.I like old-time country music, like Jimmie Rodgers, Hank Williams, Ernest Tubb, Johnny Cash, Merle Haggard, George Jones, etc.![]()
Your daughter’s spot on. I’m a big fan of Johnny Cash and Alan Jackson, the Dixie Chicks, the Band Perry and Lady Antebellum on the more contemporary side, but I can’t stand most recent country music.I was a big fan from the late 80s through the mid 90s or so. By the early 00s the local country stations pretty much abandoned the sort of music I liked (in other words, good music). It’s really unbearable now. My oldest daughter described it pretty well. She told me she doesn’t like country. Since she’s liked some older country that I’ve played for her, I asked her what she meant by “country.” She said it’s a bunch of Southern guys who can’t sing but pretend they can rap, making up songs about beer and trucks.
