I like old-time country music, like Jimmie Rodgers, Hank Williams, Ernest Tubb, Johnny Cash, Merle Haggard, George Jones, etc. 🙂

I love Carrie Underwood. Her song ‘Jesus take the wheel’ is one of my favorites

Hey, I bet you’d really love both D.L. Menard and Nathan Abshire. Menard has the coolest voice, and he’s always compared with Hank Williams. Plus, he’s got killer accordion music in almost all of his songs. And Abshire was an incredibly moving accordionist. His music was the heart and soul of cajun - he was just a lovable dude. Both those guys are impossible to go wrong with; anything you see in a music store by either of them is bound to be top-notch. They’d fit in perfectly with your taste in C&W, which looks the same as mine.

This whole LP is over-the-top fantastic; probably the best cajun long play of all time:

I’m a country boy from the South, so…😃 Yes, I favor older country – artists like Hank Williams, Jerry Reed, and Merle Haggard. However, I also have an sentimental attachment to the artists of the 1990s, guys like Joe Diffie and Alan Jackson. I don’t listen to contemporary country for the most part, though I don’t exclude it. I rather like Dierks Bentley, for instance.

I’m kind of one of those people who prefers certain songs versus a genre.

There’s some good country I like. 👍

I was a big fan from the late 80s through the mid 90s or so. By the early 00s the local country stations pretty much abandoned the sort of music I liked (in other words, good music). It’s really unbearable now. My oldest daughter described it pretty well. She told me she doesn’t like country. Since she’s liked some older country that I’ve played for her, I asked her what she meant by “country.” She said it’s a bunch of Southern guys who can’t sing but pretend they can rap, making up songs about beer and trucks.

Big fan of Johnny Cash, Alan Jackson, the Dixie Chicks, the Band Perry and Lady Antebellum 😃

Your daughter’s spot on. I’m a big fan of Johnny Cash and Alan Jackson, the Dixie Chicks, the Band Perry and Lady Antebellum on the more contemporary side, but I can’t stand most recent country music.

I’d call myself a fan of '90s and some '00s contemporary country. My favorite country singers are Collin Raye, Martina McBride and Sara Evans. Though my understanding is that Mr. Raye (who is Catholic) has “retired” from country and is moving more into inspirational music.

I also do enjoy some bluegrass, particularly Rhonda Vincent and Carrie Hassler.

Waylon and Willie
Brooks and Dunn
George strait
Garth Brooks
Sturgill Simpson
Charlie Daniels
Johnny cash
John Denver
Alabama
Brad paisley
And many more are very good. I am not a fan of much newer country, although sturgill Simpson is good.
