Gretchen Wilson’s new CD just was released today: “All Jacked Up” (The same title as the current hit). Gretchen is making all the talk tv show rounds this and next week.

Over the last few months, I have been listening to country music a lot. I used to be more of a fan of rock music and classic rock, but so much of it seems so sad or angry. I find country music a lot more uplifting and generally favorable to traditional values and Christianity. What do you all think?

I like Faith Hill and I like Keith Urban and I like Toby Keith and I like David Bowie…ooops…
 
Did anyone hear the news about Chris Cagle and his girlfriend. Chris’s girlfriend had a baby, and it’s NOT Chris’. He thought it was his.

First, at least he didn’t have a baby out of wedlock, yet his girlfriend cheated on him.
If the natural father doesn’t want responsibility, I hope Chris would marry his girlfriend and then give the baby a father to be there for him/her.

I find that I enjoy walking to country music…It has a certain beat…even the “slow” numbers have it…and allows one to jsut go along…I love singing along, too…

The Country Music Association has announced that groundbreaking musical group Alabama, legendary singer/musician/television host Glen Campbell and pioneering Grand Ole Opry star DeFord Bailey will become the newest members of the coveted Country Music Hall of Fame. Formal induction for the artists will take place during The 39th Annual CMA Awards, which will be broadcast live on the CBS Television Network, Tuesday, Nov. 15 (8:00-11:00 PM/EST) from Madison Square Garden in New York City.

Bailey will be inducted in the “Career Achieved National Prominence Prior to World War II” category, which is awarded every third year in a rotation with the “Recording and/or Touring Musician Active Prior to 1980” and “Non-Performer” categories. Campbell will be inducted in the “Career Achieved National Prominence Between World War II and 1975” category and Alabama will be the first artist inducted in the new “Career Achieved National Prominence Between 1975 and the Present” category created earlier this year.

All inductees are chosen by CMA’s Hall of Fame panel of electors, consisting of more than 300 anonymous voters appointed by the CMA Board of Directors. Alabama, Bailey and Campbell will increase the Hall of Fame membership from 92 to 95.

“A Country Music artist’s highest aspiration is to be inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame,” said Ed Benson, CMA Executive Director. “The late DeFord Bailey was a star of the Grand Ole Opry during the Great Depression, lifting America’s spirits with his harmonica. Glen Campbell brought Country Music to millions of fans in the late '60s and '70s with his numerous classic crossover hits as well as his successful television variety series. Alabama brought a new energy and a broader audience to Country Music in the '80s, becoming the most successful band in our format’s history. CMA is proud to induct all three artists into the Country Music Hall of Fame where they will join an elite group of performers and industry veterans who have significantly shaped Country Music over the last century.”

I like almost all kinds of music…I am as much at home with listening to AC/DC sing Highway to Hell as I am going back to the days of yesteryear when you could hear Donna Fargo sing Happiest Girl in the Whole USA… or Tanya Tucker sing Delta Dawn…or Roy Clark sing Yesterday or Thank God and Greyhound you’re Gone! 🙂

I’m not so much of a fan of the new Country Stars…they seem as factory created in looks and sound just like Britany Spears, Jessica Simpson, etc…only with a “country” label attached.

I like much of the late 60s thru 80s stuff and some 90s…such as Garth Brooks and Dwight Yoakum…speaking of which, Dwights album from a few years back “GONE” ranks as one of my all time favorite Country albums ever made. If you have a dish, you can get a lot of the older country stars on a channel called RFD-TV which is farm and rural oriented station. You’ll find greats such as Jim Reeves, Dottie West, the Wilburn Bros, Dolly Parton, etc. Between RFD and EWTN, I hardly watch anything else. Give it a try!

I miss the days of TV when it was not uncommon to see Kenny Rogers performing a duo with Dottie West or Dolly Parton. Me and family ALWAYS watched The Barbara Mandrell Show… Radio has really screwed over the Country greats and people like Willie and Merle arent shy about stating so either…plus TV is all about reality junk and no more wholesome variety with talented people.

Before being a country music star, Lee used to deal Black Jack in Los Vegas.
(As a sidenote, when I was a college radio DJ, I had the rare opportunity to have a 10 minute interview with Lee. It was in 1983 as his career was just beginning to take off).
 
I like the country. The trees, grass, hills, rivers, lakes and mountains… Oh, wait. This is about country music… Can’t stand it.:nope:

While I do not especially favor country music, it is nice once
in a while. I can’t stand rap, metal, pop. I favor classical
music, the Gregorian Chant. I would rather listen to country
than metal, pop, or rap! Some of it is very nice! I also like
the blues, jazz. I wont listen to morally corrupt music. I
do not watch MTV, MM, ext. I do occasionally watch CMT.
But that’s about it. I prefer to spend my time listening to
classical music, and the Gregorian Chant. I also love to
hear the Litany of the Saints!

Also like Wynonna, Garth Brooks, Roy Clark, Don Williams, Mac Davis…Dolly, Reba, oldies and only some new stuff.

I like Honky Tonk, as well, but aint too fond of Blue Grass

Say, has anyone heard the new Carrie Underwood single “Jesus Take the Wheel”? Cried when I first heard the song. Carrie, if anyone remembers (or cares) is this year’s American Idol winner.

I think she can be as great as Trisha Yearwood or Martina McBride!

I am a chart watcher and All Jacked Up really bombed considering the song debut on the country charts @#21 but peaked only at #8 two weeks ago. It’s falling off the chart like a lead balloon. This week at #23.

When did Gretchen release her new single. Ya know, here in So. California, country music ain’t as caught-up as in other parts of the country…(and country music has the majority of the listeners in San Diego Country)…

So, what are your predictions on Carrie Underwood’s career?
