I like it a lot as well, but I have to pick and choose what I listen to there as well. like there is this song by Tim McGraw called “red rag top” and he mentions his girlfriend having an abortion and doesn’t portray any sarrow for it. it was just something that had to be done. It upsets me that some country music has become just as anti-christ and blasphemic as other stuff. but some of it can be very uplifting. and I Just change the station or turn it off when the garbage comes on.

Listed on the new Billboard Magazine Country Singles Chart for the week ending 1/21/06…(charts are tabulated 2 weeks in advance), Carrie Underwood has the No.1 song in Country Music.
I knew she could make it! Yea Carrie! :dancing:

I got her new CD this Christmas, and I absolutely love it! Man, does this girl have some set of pipes!!!

Even though he did not write it, I love the song “Hurt”. You can tell that he was in pain when he recorded this song; which makes it all that more meaningful. My wife will break out in tears when she hears it.
FYI, that is a Nine Inch Nails song about drug addiction.

I found out about a new forum for country music fans.

Country Chart Forums

We discuss the country music chart, the aritsts, the songs and anything else that’s about country music.

The founder of this forum is a stuadent at Francisican University at Stuebenville.
Not bad coming from a fellow Catholic!

p.s. I had asked him to join the forums here…

Ryan Adams’ album called “Jacksonville City Nights” is the greatest country album since Gram Parsons. (I’m talking true country here, folks.)

The album even boasts a duet w/ Norah Jones.

Best line on the entire album:

“Oh Mary, oh mother of all that is near / Lead me to freedom from my kingdom of fear”

Absolutley riveting!

Pretty good from someone out of the American Idol camp. I know that Josh Gracin had a couple of hits in the last year or so. Carrie, though, her voice is soooo classic!!

I want to be like her when I grow up!! 😃
Carrie’s follow-up song is: Don’t Forget to Remember Me, currently #46 on the chart.

Josh Gracin’s new one is Favorite State of Mind @ #49

BTW: Jesus, Take the Wheel spent 6 weeks at the #1 spot.

Is anyone gonna watch the CMA Awards tonight?
Anyone have any favorites who might win?

I really don’t care much for Keith Urban or Carrie Underwood but their both gonna wim, I’m sure.

I don’t usually watch the CMA because of the immodesty. However, I’d like to know who will win. I’m not really rooting for anyone, though. 🙂

I watched CMA. I’m a big Country music fan. But did you see when Carrie Underwood won female vocalist of the year Faith Hill’s reaction. Looks like the green eyed monster was at the CMA:whistle:

 your’e right…I saw FH reaction and whoaaa she’ll regret it.

I’m glad C Underwood won…did you see who her date was? the guy from American Idol…was’nt he Russian…I’ve forgot his name??

I used to be a country fan, in fact, I played steel guitar in a country band for over 25 years, but I seldom listen to it anymore. Too much smoke and flames, too much fireworks, the almost x rated clothing on some girl singers, etc. What’s wrong with the artist just coming out and singing the music, ala George Strait, Alan Jackson, etc? It’s really hard to tell a country concert from a rock concert anymore. Roy Acuff would turn in his grave. The only country music is in Branson, Missouri, that’s why tourism is way down in Nashville.

Cant say I was “totally” shocked at Faith Hill’s reaction, but it did take me aback. I always felt she came off as “high maintenence” and slightly snobbish but her reaction was my confirmation. The hiphop/Pop crowd did the same thing to Kelly Clarkson as if A.I winners are lesser people and havent paid their dues. They did and I am glad A.I winners are getting some of the glory.

Carrie Underwood truly deserved it:thumbsup: that girl can sing. This pay your dues thing has got to go. I am usually tired of the same ones winning year after year just because of their name.😉 Jesus take the Wheel is one of my favorites. Also, I do like Sara Edwards, even though she going through a lot of problems now, I do like listening to her.

Dave, there are some of today’s artists that I do like, and believe the lyrics, still makes country, Country. Yet, I do agree that the rock influence has taken over. HOWEVER, by looking at the state of what passes for Pop music, (mostly r&b & rap) that country seems to be the only viable option.
