Any Heavy Metal fans in here?

Why do you consider Rush heavy metal? I don’t think they are at all. Their earlier stuff in the seventies might have been, but not later
 
Maybe I should ask what your definition of “heavy metal” is.

Mine is noise - so much noise and screeching singing that it grates on your nerves.

I agree, but when I was a teenager I listened to Led Zepphlin a lot. but I grew out of it and now I prefer singing to screaming any day.

I became more confident in myself and my sexuality. To me a lot of young men think ugly “music” makes them masculine.

I really believe that being a man comes from inside, from integrity more than pit bulls, tattoes, huge gas guzzling trucks and getting cancer from cigarettes.

But that is just my two cents, and please don’t feel insulted.

I would never have classified Led Zeppelin as heavy metal. Back in those days, when they first came out, we didn’t have that classification. Everything was simply “rock music”.

Maybe they would now be considered “classic rock”?

Things have changed a lot in the interviening years.

I remember back in the late 70s I had friends I called “rocknroll snobs”. I was listening to Supertramp, Jackson Browne and other music that was easier on my ears.

Not these guys. If is wasn’t hard core metal it wasn’t “rocknroll” at all. Of course they were heavily tattoed, drank like fish and cigarettes were the least nasty things they smoked, if you get my drift.

I don’t like ugly music nor do I think ugly music would make me “masculine”. I also believe being a many comes from inside.

I still like heavy metal, though. 🤷
 
I like classical, country, 40’s, and reggae. Jimmy Buffett is the man! If you listen to Margaritaville on Sirius XM, you’ll get a lot of JB mixed in with various reggae artists. The best of both worlds. Just so long as they keep rap music out of the equation.
 
For anyone that cares Brian “Head” Welch is apparently back with Korn. He and the Bassist, Fieldy, are born again Christians. Head coming back to the band is incredible. The band just didn’t seem to have the same fire when he was gone. And, though I haven’t heard the new album “Path to Totality”, which apparently Head played on, I am so excited he’s back with them. I just hope that head and Fieldy influence the band and not the other way around.

As many a metalhead as asked before: “Is Korn even metal?”

My recent shining moment as a metalhead was winning tickets for the Alice Cooper/Marilyn Manson concert by playing a game on the local radio station called Mr. Metal. My wife rolled her eyes when I told her she’d be joining me at the concert.

This is a good point. As much as I love both metal AND KoRn, I don’t think they belong in that genre. They created a new genre, actually, called nu metal. And, as much as I enjoy it (and KoRn is my favorite modern band), the artists of today, for the most part, in both metal and nu metal, will never touch classic artists such as Iron Maiden and Ozzy.
 
Okay, so who’s excited for the new ABR album coming out. Don’t tell me I am the only one.
 
If anyone is looking for some newer heavy metal bands to listen to I’d recommend checking out The Sword, Mastodon, Kyng, and Ghost BC. All have a classic heavy metal sound
