Any Jews on the forums?

Your post was fine until the last part about Christian persecution of Jews throughout the years.
This made me go back and re-read the original post:
I consider a great tragedy the rising anti-Semitism of our times and lament the persecution of Jews throughout history by Christians and others.
I’m not sure what’s wrong with this. There is a resurgence of anti-Semitism, which is indeed a tragedy. Throughout history, Jews have been persecuted by Christians (and others). Are we supposed to pretend that this didn’t happen?
The Jews persecuted the Christians also.
Do you mean in the decades immediately following the death of Jesus? I am not aware of any widespread persecution of Christians by Jews since then. Well, I guess at a stretch you could talk about Palestinian Christians, but that’s a conflict between Israelis and Palestinians; it doesn’t have an anti-Christian aspect.

To add to the already copious amounts of information you’ve recieved, it’s also a lot like a snoring sound, as least in the Semitic language that I speak natively.

Khhhhh.

Not denying anything, although I know you spend a lot of your time talking about how awful Catholics and the Catholic church have been. You are of course free to continue.

I’m Jewish by birth! Does that count? :wink:Catholic now by faith after entering the Church…I guess we could say I am a fulfilled Jew…😁

Sorry, but in my opinion you are buying into propaganda if you believe this is the case. I don’t want to continue this topic further though, at risk of hijacking the thread.

PS, don’t take anything the ADL says seriously. They’re a rogue organisation.

Focus on the issue, not me. I’m speaking of historical fact, not “propaganda.”

I know you use ADL stats to prove your point. I’ve seen you cite the ADL in other threads. The ADL are liars. They have been well documented in fabricating cases leading to a ‘rise in antisemitism’.

Anyway, even if there is a ‘disturbing rise in antisemitism’, are you saying Catholics are the main cause of this?

On another note, if we are to discuss this, I do think it would be good to do it in a separate thread, as this is one simply asking if there are Jewish people on the forums.

I also used FBI stats, which were completely ignored.

Yes, this belongs in a separate thread. The OP shouldn’t have been criticized for mentioning Christian antisemitism in the first place.

I don’t believe it was a fair statement and have a right to criticise it.

I think just like some people have an obsession with talking about Jews and how terrible they are, others have an obsession of going on and on (and on) about how much anti-semitism there is.

Yes it’s out there, but Jews are not the most persecuted group in the world, so why are some people obsessed about how they are treated? Why are you so obsessed about it?

My father grew up Jewish and converted to Catholicism and is now an ordained Deacon. As such, my dad’s entire side of his family is Jewish so I have a bunch of Jewish relatives.

This is crazy… count the amount of Jews in the world and the number of Christians. Then count the number of hate crimes against each… the rate is insanely higher for Jews.

As someone who has studied Jewish history with a primary focus on their political rights (or lack there of) throughout history, I can firmly say they have been slaughtered by the thousands from the days of Moses to today. Synagogues getting swastikas painted on them is a regular occurrence now…

Christians are the most persecuted religious group in the world. If you don’t understand that, you haven’t done your research.

I don’t think you realise how many Christians have actually been killed in the world.

No clue what you are attempting to gain by firmly claiming Christians are more persecuted than Jews. It’s statistically and historically not true. Even if it were though, what are you gaining by defending this?

Every Jew fights against anti-semitism (My father grew up Jewish and half of all my relatives are Jewish, I can 100% speak to personal experiences). Not every Christian fights against persecution, or at least not in such a direct sense.

All this aside, what does it matter. There is no Jew or Gentile or male or female in Christ. Persecution is persecution. Evil is evil. Every Jewish person who faces hatred is just as bad as a Christian who faces hatred.

Take a look at the 2.3 billion Christians in the world vs the 14.6 million Jews in the world. One Jewish person facing persecution by percentage of the total is insanely higher than a Christian on percentage of the total. Arguing otherwise is just ignorance.

Not arguing the point further. I’ve done my research and presented my papers on the topic to esteemed Christian, Jewish, and atheist academic scholars at presentations. I do not need to prove it here as well.

I’ve had professors and teachers treat me worse because they thought I was Jewish (my last name is a strong Jewish name - my heritage). Once they casually find out I’m Catholic I’m magically a favorite of theirs. This is not an issue others face around me and it is solely because of my Jewish heritage and facial features.

It is true and I am not attempting to gain anything, I am simply correcting a false statement you made.
