Absolutely brilliant šŸ™‚ They can all be argued against in some way though, I think that God protected the Jesuits from the atomic bomb to show people like me, because you can’t really perform the miracle of escaping an atomic bomb in any way like thos Jesuits did haha šŸ™‚

Atomic bomb miracle is insane! 😃
I know, that one was wonderful to read about. It’s a modern day repeat of the Old Testament story in the Book of Daniel where Shadrack, Meshak and Abendago were put in a flaming furnace but preserved by an angel of the Lord.

Here’s another evidence, the prophecies of Our Lady of Good Success.
salvemariaregina.info/SalveMariaRegina/SMR-155/Our%20Lady%20of%20Good%20Success.html

The Jewish prophecies foretelling the coming Messiah are also amazing – you can read about that in ā€œThe Case for Christā€ by Lee Strobel.

Also look up the miracles of St. Patrick in Ireland.

More ideas keep springing to mind!

Of course, people, as you say, can always squirm away from evidence and can throw irrational cynicism in our direction while pretending to be more intellectual than believers. Atheism is pure irrationality, though, because the best it can do to ā€œproveā€ its case is attack the evidence supporting other religions. This doesn’t prove atheism, though. Even if there was no evidence at all supporting any religion, this would not mean there is evidence supporting Atheism, for it is impossible to prove a negative. There can be no evidence that God doesn’t exist. People can point to the existence of pain and evil, but that doesn’t prove God doesn’t exist. There could be an evil God, or there could be a God that doesn’t care, or there could be (as we Christians and most of the world’s population believes) a darn good reason that is consistent with belief in a loving God. Atheism has no evidence to back its wild assertions with, yet it claims to be rational. What it is is hypocritical.

Very interesting šŸ™‚ I have learned that atheists are generally atheists because God is ā€˜not nice’ or ā€˜because there is no evidence to believe in God, so they don’t’.

Who are they to judge how God should be? What makes them so sure that they know how to behave when they are only a few years old compared to God?

ā€˜No evidence’? We have found pretty substantial evidence with the bomb that didn’t kill the Jesuits šŸ™‚ I wish that I’d have questioned the world instead of taking it for granted that nobody knew, oh well šŸ™‚ I had fun being daft for the years where I wasn’t a Catholic and it’s all in the past anyway 😃

People don’t believe in God because:
  • they are ignorant
  • they have no appreciation for God
  • they don’t care
  • they don’t know of the proofs
  • they are retarded
  • or they haven’t been exposed to Christianity yet
Am I right? 😊

Thanks for that šŸ™‚ Loads of people as witnesses and even bishops that can back up this story. Again, no money is gained from this incident with Mary even stating that love is more important. I work very hard trying to make money for the poor, so maybe I should do that AFTER making sure my heart is full of love first šŸ™‚ I only try to make money because my heart is good anyway, so… :)😊

What I surmise is, it isn’t so much that they don’t believe in God, they don’t believe in religion.
Remember the fox hole Atheist who desperately calls out to God for help?šŸ˜‰

Yeah, I know that they like to pick holes in religions šŸ™‚

How am I supposed to treat atheists who want to be my friend but they don’t care about God even though I show them proofs? They hate Him or don’t care.

One girl is my friend and she likes sex and having fun, but she isn’t really horrible to other humans apart from mistreating her body and their’s with sex and alcohol. In the bible it says that we should brush our feet and walk away, but in others it says love everyone - does this mean love them unless they reject God after you’ve shown them the way?

No, Jesus even said, ā€œLove your enemies,ā€ and ā€œbless those who curse you.ā€ What He meant by the ā€œbrush the dust off your sandals,ā€ is that one should not waste time and energy trying to evangelize those that absolutely reject Him, people that have closed hearts. We are called to love everyone, though, without exceptions. I’ve met people who are completely closed to the message I try to offer them; there’s no point in my continuing the conversation because their hearts are hard. So in cases where I encounter a real hardness of heart, I quietly cease to argue and just pray for them.

Remember, Jesus even prayed for those who were crucifying Him, and forgave them of their sins.

To answer the question I would say that my faith is from the heart not from some logical debate - that’s what science is for. My attempts when young to lock into absolute proofs based on the Bible or logic just led to failure.

Relying on ā€˜proofs’ such as the Shroud of Turin is a slippery path to follow because there is always some element of doubt being thrown up and non-Catholics aren’t going to surrender their life to Christ because of some apparent sign or wonder.

I think Christ wants us to rely on faith (remember St Thomas wanting physical proof and Christ told him to have faith).

If you want to evangelize, do it by example. Your faith, good conduct, kindness, living the life of Christ, going to Mass, reading (and living) the Gospels and the Bible in general - that sort of thing.

The title of the thread says it all šŸ™‚

I am finding it difficult living amongst so many people that don’t care about God or don’t believe in Him here in England 😦

Are there solid reasons for bein a Catholic? Like proofs? How can I evangelise when I am struggling with my faith and don’t even know what reasons there are to have the belief systems of a Catholic?

I just want something to show/tell my future kids and other people why to be Catholics, because otherwise there’s no point in me being a Cathiolic, having kids and not telling them to be Catholics and evangelising 🤷
Are there any ā€œscientific proofs for Godā€, I’ll say no to that because there is no reproducable test anyone can perform which aboslutly objectivly proves Gods existence. But I would say on the otherhand, that the proof of God is all around us as St. Paul says.

I would say the best challenges you can make with Athiests are in the realms of philosophy, morality and hand in hand with morality rights. Athiesm is full of holes, if you think about it for abit you’ll see them. One work of fiction which I’d recommend you read is a book called ā€œthe loser lettersā€, I think ignatious press is publishing it.

How about we approach this in a methodical manner and you explain what it is exactly about your faith that you are struggling with?

I recommend you look at the incorruptible bodies and Eucharistic miracles.
Here is a great list of miracles. catholic-dispatch.com/miracles.htm

It seems that you are looking for ways to demonstrate to atheists that miracles prove the existence of God by bending the laws of science in different ways. In this way you are playing according to their rules, ie, speaking the language of science and accepting the assumption that science as we know it today can and must explain everything simply by making that the starting point.

I don’t think that’s the best way to do it. First I’d look into the inconsistencies of non-belief, the randomness and illogic of their claims. Also, it is useful to think about the very nature of natural science, the way it follows trends in secular ideologies and their political programmes. (Read Christopher Hutchins for an example of pseudo-intellectuallism and ingnorance.) Objective and value-free? I don’t think so.

One thing I always notice is how people who reject God and ridicule religious faith have only contemporary ideologies to hold on to and are only grounded in their social context. In other words, a weak position to be in.
What if they found themselves in a different society tommorow? What would they base their beliefs on? Their own culture or the new culture? Why? I doubt that anyone from the west would sudenly accept Muslim culture and beliefs for example, and hold them to be equally true and good as their own. I have yet to meet a person who preaches equality of all belief systems and actually believs in that claim. How can they defend their position without claiming some degree of objectivity and universality of morals and beliefs? Where does that certainty come from?I like to ask people this questions and I never get a straight answer. Perhaps there isn’t one.

It all comes down to faith in the end, whether people are willing to see it or not.

I hope you find the strength to hold on to your faith and put your trust in God. I struggled for years with moral relativism and atheism around me and was torn between following the Lord and conforming to secular norms and values of this country. At one point I simply decided to trust God and ever since my life has become easier. I realised that it is true that as christians we are not ā€˜of the world’. It is a hard thing to accept when you are young and want to have fun and you meet people who are decent human beings but have no faith. It takes courage to be different and go against popular culture. That’s why I love this forum - the support and inspiration is amazing!

Good luck and God bless.

ā€˜ā€˜There are no transitional forms found, only the end product. David Kitz said, ā€œEvolution requires intermediate forms between species and paleontology does not provide them.ā€[2] David Kitts is an evolutionist. Even if one or two were found, they are suspect even among evolutionists and in order to prove evolution, you would need hundreds of thousands everywhere.’’

ā€˜ā€˜Some arguments for evolution is that if you give it enough time anything could happen. But unbeknownst to most, evolution doesn’t have enough time. Billions or trillions of years is not even close to how much time would be needed. Rick Ramashing and Sir Fred Hoyle calculated the probability for one cell to evolve by chance. The atheist/agnostic team found to their disbelief that it is 1 chance in 10 to the 40,000th power years just for one cell to evolve. Hoyle said, "The chance that higher life forms might have emerged in this way is comparable with the chance that ā€˜a tornado sweeping through a junk-yard might assemble a Boeing 747 from the materials therein.’ "[3] Does evolution have enough time? No.’’

Hi, Crazydyl,

-]-] -]-]-]The Catholic Church has only taken a stand condemining atheistic evolution. As long as God’s Hand is seen as creating matter from nothing and putting everything in the order He has chosen, you are free to believe whatever you wish on how the world got here. šŸ™‚

The Theory of Evolution is just that - a theory. It is an idea that provides some answers but not all. If it provided all of hte answers, it wold be The Law of Evoluition. 50 problems with believing in evolution - ok. But, as I see it, there is nothing wrong with thinking God had (has) a hand in the entire process. All of creation is evolving.

Among other things, I am a Registered Nurse. I am quite aware of the inability of certain antibiotics to kill formerly susceptable strains of micro-organisms. While certain brief responses can be given **

Einstein believes that we could not have started without God šŸ™‚ Darwin was agnostic, I think?

I don’t know šŸ™‚ I mean, you have to believe in God over no God because we know of loads of people that say they have seen Jesus since his death and they gain nothing from saying that. Also, there is no heart or love in the world if there is no God. I found life sooooooo depressing not believing in God and I really loved making the Muslim woman happy - the first time that making any woman happy was rewarding for me. Now I am a Catholic man because I believe in JC, because it seems more plausible than any other religion šŸ™‚ Now I am getting to know Catholic women šŸ™‚

JC is the only one who makes us happy :grouphug::amen::slapfight:ā¤ļø

Hi, Crazydyl,

I am pleased to hear that you make women happy… 😃 Maybe you will open a new thread and share at least some of your secrets! 😃 I’ve been married for 40 years and every now and then …well… that is where your thread would really come in handy!

Now, I know this is just a bit old … but in 1270 Aquinas came up with some answers to your question about God’s existence. And, you know what - this is no ā€˜flash in the pan’ approach! These ideas have withstood the test of time. Here is a link you may find helpful: newadvent.org/summa/1002.htm

God bless
