Why do protestants and many other denominations have different interpretations?
Really - of Ezekiel? What sort of interpretations? Actually, once I read that those men turning their back to the temple were doing something worse than worshipping the sun, something more abominable. A lot of those other religions had a lot of weird sexual practices tied to them, including whoredom and homosexuality. God really hated to see his people defiling themselves.

A discussion involves give and take.

If you want to have a discussion then lets have one. Others may learn from you also if you are looking into becoming Catholic then we may see where you have something a bit off, for a Catholic, and we can attempt to help you through that.

That is not what is happening here. All you are doing is asking for our opinion without sharing. Its one sided and IMHO unfair and not something I wish to take part in and will counsel anyone who asks me to also have no part of.
Do you think that it is unfair when someone shares their understanding and is attacked? What if that person is misguided and simply needs help? What if that person has been attacked so much to the point of not wanting to share anything until they can understand how a system works?

What if YOU wanted to share your understanding with someone, but 10 others block that from happening by doing things out of ignorance?

I don’t know how some non-catholics have been in the past, but can’t some of you just step into the non catholic shoes for one second.

Not every non-catholic is ignorant. Some people just honestly want to sit back and read the understanding of others. Is that too much to ask for? The opinions/understanding of others?

ou can’t gather that I think anything when I have given you very little to go off of.
You’ve given us quite a bit to go off of actually, your responses in other threads, the hit and run style with which you first started posting on this forum and the fact that you refuse to share anything says quite a bit about what you think.

And I’m with ByzCath on this. Unless you actually make a show of wanting discussion, there is no point in sharing.

Not Ezekiel, but the Bible.

So based off of my past threads, what would you say about me?

You believe the Catholics to at best be followers of the anti-christ, and at worst outright worshippers of Satan.
See that is the problem. People love to tell others what they believe without knowing.

Not once did I say that. I only gave MY understanding of the Bible. If I am giving my understanding of the Bible and you think that it is wrong, how about WE have a one on one discussion so you can guide me in the right direction.

I’m sorry that you feel that way. I really am.

Depends on what you mean by attacked. Some people feel attacked when someone disagrees with them. Others feel attacked when actually they are doing the attacking and others are reacting.

This seems like an attack.

Yes and some non-catholics feel superior to Catholics and do not think Catholics are Christian and attack them either directly or veiled through what they call questioning.

Yet I note you never denied what I said, which is what I expected.

You denied ever saying it (you haven’t explicitly), but you don’t deny holding it to be true, nor do you deny that it is your motive for posting everything you have posted.

It would go a long way to discrediting me if you’d tell us that you do not think Catholics follow the Antichrist, and that you do acknowledge Catholics are Christian.

Interesting. You never denied Nine_Two’s conclusion but simply said that you never *said *it :hmmm:

So?..
Nine+Two:

Correct? Incorrect? Or just sticking with you didn’t say it?

God bless

I have already stated that if someone disagrees with me, that is fine. I just would like for them to show me in scripture with their understanding as to why and not attack me because I don’t believe what they believe.

If it seemed like and attack, I am sorry. It wasn’t an attack, I simply stated what was done to me before I hit 10 posts.

I understand that some non-catholics are like that, but I have stated that I have good intentions. Now if you choose to believe me, that’s up to you. But not once have I been disrespectful in any way or fashion. If so, please accept my apologies. But I do know from reading on this forum and others, that I have not been disrespectful like most protestants.

I understand that I’m on a catholic website. I signed up for it. But if you read in one of my past threadsthe reason I joined, you might see me a little different. I thought I could come here and ask questions/talk to decent people who are from a different denomination than myself.

I have noticed that you and few others love to destroy my threads by changing the subject and not responding to the scripture lol

If you want to know how/what I think, how about WE have a private discussion based on scripture. Is that okay with you?

I think that many people will be saved. Catholics and non-catholics as long as they live up to knowledge that they have received.

So again, how about that conversation? That will let you know what I believe. Until then, if you do not like my threads, then theres a solution.

You can ignore them. I would like for you not to, but if that helps you.

This just seems odd to me. Why the instance on “with their understanding”? Does that mean if I disagree with your interpretation of scripture and I used a Catholic Commentary and the Church Fathers that you will not listen because it is not from my “understanding”?

As Catholics we do not place the same importance on personal interpretation of Holy Scripture as non-catholics do.
If it seemed like and attack, I am sorry. It wasn’t an attack, I simply stated what was done to me before I hit 10 posts.
No you did not state what happened to you, you made a value judgment of what others think and feel and called them ignorant. That is an attack but this does give light to my “understanding” you better.

Again, seems like a veiled attack here.

Also, Catholics do not view ourselves as “a different denomination”. We are the Church.

That’s what I thought.

That’s what I thought.
What’s that? That I believe that catholics are followers of satan? smh

You truly do not get it.

Like I said, lets have a one on one conversation. It seems as though you are interested in how I think but do not want to take in what I have said.

You’ve told me a lot about yourself as well. 🙂

Ezekiel 8:16 And he brought me into the inner court of the LORD’S house, and, behold, at the door of the temple of the LORD, between the porch and the altar, were about five and twenty men, with their backs toward the temple of the LORD, and their faces toward the east; and they worshipped the sun toward the east.

How do you (anyone) feel about this verse. You can take it into any direction to explain you understanding of it. I just want feedback/opinions on this scripture.
For me, it calls to mind how the Reformers turned their backs on the true church of Jesus Christ and instead blinded themselves by worshipping the light of a false gospel - sola fide and sola scriptura… (Sarcasm alert!)

I’m sorry, but do you seriously think that Catholics are suppposed to look at this verse and think that because there is a tradition of orienting their worship services to face east (symbolic of turning to meet Christ on the dawning of the Day) somehow their Christian oriented liturgy is defaulted into sun worship? Because if that’s what you are trying to imply then I think you have a lot more homework to present to get from your starting point to your finish line.

Do you think that any church building that orients its worship service to the East is filled with people who are turning their backs on God?

It’s interesting that the passage speaks of men who “turn their back on the temple” whereas in Catholic liturgy all are present inside the place of worship together and - traditionally - all were turned symbolically towards the return of the Savior…
[27] For as the lightning comes from the east and shines as far as the west, so will be the coming of the Son of man. (Mt 24:27)
Peace,
Robert

Since you still haven’t contradicted me as I invited you to - the conversation ends.
You’re not going to try to help me? Also, I did that by stating “now that you’ve told me what I believe.”

I never said anything. Only posted a scripture. Thanks for responding to the topic.
