For me, it calls to mind how the Reformers turned their backs on the true church of Jesus Christ and instead blinded themselves by worshipping the light of a false gospel - sola fide and sola scriptura…

(Sarcasm alert!)
I’m sorry, but do you seriously think that Catholics are suppposed to look at this verse and think that because there is a tradition of orienting their worship services to face east (symbolic of turning to meet Christ on the dawning of the Day) somehow their Christian oriented liturgy is defaulted into sun worship? Because if that’s what you are trying to imply then I think you have a lot more homework to present to get from your starting point to your finish line.
Do you think that any church building that orients its worship service to the East is filled with people who are turning their backs on God?
It’s interesting that the passage speaks of men who “turn their back on the temple” whereas in Catholic liturgy all are present inside the place of worship together and - traditionally - all were turned symbolically towards the return of the Savior…
Peace,
