I am originally from Rochester, Minnesota, the home of the Mayo Clinic. When I was about 7 (this would be the mid-1970s), Mother Teresa was in town to have a pacemaker put in. Our parish is very close to to downtown, and during her stay Mother Teresa attended Mass at our church. Our priest at that time was a friend of hers and they had a long history of work together. So one Sunday we go to church, and we’re sitting in the pew just as normal, and out of nowhere here comes Mother Teresa into the church, and she sits down right near us. I got to shake her hand during the sign of peace, and I remember briefly meeting her and her patting me on the head after Mass was over.
