I suppose you would have to ask God that.

Part of the answer could be the inter-connectedness of creation.

But also, to be more precise, chimps did not turn into humans.

Why would God not place Earth at the center of the Cosmos, when he could have otherwise? We can ask questions all day long. But just we think something is more… reasonable… doesn’t mean it’s in agreement with science or reality.

Evolution? Why would God create chimps that turned into humans instead of just creating humans?
Chimps and humans share common ancestors, but humans did not descend from any of the current primates.

I’m not sure what the “biology textbook” means.

If you are referring to natural selection or descriptions of evolution that talk about chance, etc., then we have to be clear that, within the biological and scientific processes, such is perfectly compatible with an eternal God who is the foundation of all Reality.

Again, God is not some “thing” in competition with other explanations. He’s so OTHER, so utterly distinct from creation, that his causation is simply NOT the same as that within creation. God is perfectly able to utilize various natural and chance processes in accord with his Eternal Will.

Something similar could be pointed to with regards to the freedom of the human will. We have genuine choices and freedom, yet God sees all this in the Eternal Now.

Unless there is a second version of evolution, I thought evolution stated it went from bacteria to fish to crocodiles to gorillas to some bizarre type human to a proper human?

Why indeed? But then, why create dinosaurs one day only to make them all extinct a few years later? We cannot fathom the depths of God’s intentions. But we can try to understand his message. What is the message behind the extinction of the dinosaurs, do you think?

Notice the common ancestor. Chimps and humans are related, but we did not evolve from chimps.

Genesis 1:26…

St. Augustine observe, an air of majesty in the human body, which raises man above all terrestrial animals, and brings him in some measure near to the Divinity. As Jesus assumed our human nature, we may assert, that we bear a resemblance to God both in soul and body.

Without the great extinction event of the dinosaurs (and other ones throughout history), humans wouldn’t even be here.

Quite opposite from getting rid of providence and design, I think such events (evolution, extinctions, etc.) help to show just how incredible God’s plan IS.

There’s nothing to be afraid of!

IF there’s one thing I want to get across, it’s that evolution speaks to God’s majesty and wonderful creativity. Don’t be afraid.

Funny you mention St. Augustine, as he wasn’t actually a literalist.

I’m not sure what this means.

Also, you seem to take your scientific evidence from one event in the biblical narrative (the Flood of Noah).

Why?

Do you not take the rest of the scientific evidence from the scientific community?

The Church precisely tells us that we must believe God immediately created the human soul, no matter how the human body formed prior.

So I’m not sure what you’re getting at.
