I encourage you to take some biology classes from actual scientists. The Church Fathers lived more than 1500 years ago: they didn’t promote an Earth that was billions of years old because they didn’t have the technological equipment necessary to reach that conclusion.

They based their beliefs off of scripture, not science.
Science wasn’t as advanced back then! Scripture itself never said “and God made the Earth in six literal calendar days, pay no attention to those fossils behind the curtain.”

Not all of them, as you mistakenly said earlier.

How do you explain fossils and carbon dating?

So you’re too lazy to look at what I said about carbon dating, but not too lazy to look at what I said about the Church Fathers and what they said about creation. Interesting.

Yeppers. I already knew from college that St. Augustine wasn’t a literalist.

Deflect away.

Allow me to introduce you to Ctrl+F.

What you do is this: press Ctrl and F at the same time, and then type in “Carbon dating.”

Yes?

I’m trying to think: have we ever agreed on something, ever?

You could cut the romantic tension here with a knife/sharpened fossil

I don’t think we’ve ever agreed on anything. Maybe we should work on that.
