not a fan but have nothing against her…but I do not enjoy any women preachers as for me they tend to be shrill.
Thank you. My vocabulary is not large enough, and I think that word ‘shrill’ says quite a bit about her.

I’ve always only caught her mid-stream in a talk, so I can’t comment on an end-to-end talk.

I’m glad to read these reviews, gives me a little more push to listen to her.

This isn’t directly about Joyce Meyer. Growing up in the Baptist church, you learn that you must be born again and to lead others to Jesus. I needed more than that, I needed to know how to deal with my life. I watched the PTL club before there was an EWTN. In fact I saw Mother Angelica several times on the show talking about EWTN. The Holy Spirit led me to watch, but had me stop when Jim and Tammy started promoting HERITAGE USA and nothing else non-stop. It had stopped being about Jesus. I opened the telephone book and asked the Holy Spirit to lead me to the church He wanted me in. I got through to an Assembly of God church and learned that the Holy Spirit has not changed. I loved the praise and worship. By the way it’s not just entertainment. You can connect with God spiritually, but not anywhere like in the Catholic church. I’ve had a weight problem so I heard of a Charismatic Lutheran Church that was sponsoring a Free to be Thin weight loss program. I went to the Bible studies, followed the program guidelines and lost weight. I became involved in that church for a while. I loved it but I moved away was not able to attend there any longer. Long story short, many many years later the Holy Spirit led me to the Holy Roman Catholic church. I convereted in 2004-2005. I’ve never been happier spiritually than being Catholic. I have learned a lot on my journey and grown. But the past is like different chapters in the book of my life. There are many chapters that I am not proud of. God has led me here. I don’t need the other ministries that I’ve learned from. The Holy Spirit led me to the TRUTH. I know I’m still learning, but now I know where to find nourishment, in Christ’s body and blood, in good solid Catholic teaching, Fr Corapi, Fr Groschel, Mother Angelica. Yes, test the teachings. Listen to the Holy Spirit. Don’t be so quick to speak, Listen. One thing that God tells me all the time is "Be still and know that I AM God, and wait. I love Him because He died for me, but death could not keep Him. Father brought Him back to life as promised. He will do that for us too someday.

Oh yes, by the way, Kenneth Copeland was used in a round about way in my journey to the Holy Roman Catholic church, but then, so was my car. Sorry… I couldn’t resist. 😃 Needed to add some levity. My car doesn’t teach any theology, it just is used to get me where I need to go. Yes, we need to pray for these word of faith teachers. Oh definitely. Kenneth Copeland said on his program one day, you know, the Catholics… they’re on to something with the concept of purgatory… there’s no way, that we’ll be talking the mess we talk, in His presence, (sorry it’s a southern expression) we’re going to go through some heavy duty teaching before we’re allowed into heaven. That was the jist of it, not verbatim. Anyway, there’s an opening in his heart there… pray for him, Joyce M, Joel Osteen, Jim Bakker… they need the fullness of TRUTH. 👍 May God bless and keep us and bring us to everlasting LIFE. Amen

Joyce Meyer is not “shrill.”
That is simply not her style.

She will only lead a Catholic away from the Catholic faith if that Catholic is a lazy bum who doesn’t pay attention to the teachings of the Catholic Church.

On the gospel of prosperity,
yes, Jesus told us to take up our Cross everyday and follow him.
He also, however, said that those of us who give generously to his cause would receive back a hundredfold, good measure, shaken down, and overflowing would be placed into our laps.
St. Paul in 2nd Corinthians 9 teaches that those who sow sparingly will reap sparingly and those who sow abundantly will reap an abundant harvest. Mrs. Meyer does not teach people to seek Jesus in order to become Billionaires. It is a slander against her to suggest otherwise.

Like I said originally, she is a good motivational speaker,
she obviously loves the Lord, and I just wish that she was Catholic and had the FULLNESS of the entire gospel.
She is a good person, and I thoroughly enjoy her programs.

I wish she was Catholic too (I wish everyone was!), but I just can’t agree with much of what you have above. I’m glad she is helpful to you, but I agree with the person who said she was shrill, and I don’t find her to be a good motivational speaker either - everyone responds differently to various methods and personalities. Her personality and demeanor simply irritate me.

She certainly does appear to love the Lord and it’s great she loves to share that, but I personally think she comes across as having a very high opinion of herself. I get the feeling - and I could be wrong - that she would not be an easy person to work with on the road! Just my gut feeling!

I’ve been reading along here about what all these posters, both Catholic and protestant, think of Joyce Meyer and it made me wonder…

What does Joyce Meyer think of the Catholic faith? Does she respect it or does she criticize it?

So far i never hear a single words from her, criticizing Catholic

So far I too have **never **heard Joyce Meyer
criticize Catholics or the Catholic faith itself.

I have heard her speak out against perceived legalism,
but that is rampant in some protestant circles,
so she need not have been aiming that at Rome.

As a Catholic, while I do not hold to her misguided beliefs, I can still hope that she is being used by the Holy Spirit to help bring atheists and other non believers into the possibility of something greater than themselves. The focus on materialism is troubling however. It looks too worldly to me. I pray that any converts to Christianity she may reel in will continue to develop their sprituality to eventually lead them home to the Catholic church.

God Bless

I
never hear her speaking in tongues and interprets it herself. If i did not remembered wrongly she didn’t even pray in tongue when she came to my church last year.
happygirl …she does indeed speak in tongues and interpret her tongues herself…I watched her years ago do this on tv. In fact she was asked to leave one protestant church over her insistence using tongues and speaking about such. The more conservative church she was formerly in taught that “tongues” had, as scripture says they will…ceased… at the close of the apostolic age.

many also do not realize she is divorced and remarried.

much of her material “sounds” good because it is just a rewrite of the writings of others and she quite witty.

she is a word faith preacher who claims you can “call into being” things you want…just like God can…this is heresy…and she is raking in the money with her word faith preaching for those with itching ears.

her teaching and her thinking ares not catholic. if you want to really understand the** truth,** read the lives and writings of the saints and you will find that they all thought alike…whether in 250, 1200, 1700, or 1960. And they did not sound like or think like Joyce Meyer. they sought truth.

the beginning of wisdom is not self-esteem, but humility.
her 'teachings are dangerous because they can lead you away from the Truth.

The more conservative church she was formerly in taught that “tongues” had, as scripture says they will…ceased… at the close of the apostolic age.

ACTUALLY, scripture nowhere states WHEN tongues will cease. It merely states that tongues will cease. If you read the whole context in which that statement is made, it strongly implies rather that tongues and such will cease at the end of the Age, not at the death of the last apostle, when we fully know Christ just as we are now fully known by him, and that Love alone will remain .

The Bible nowhere, not ever, states that tongues will cease at the end of the apostolic age or the end of the first century A.D. or what have you. That is something anti-Charismatics read INTO the text. But it isn’t there anywhere.

God bless,

I love Joyce Meyer… as a sister in Christ!
She does great work and has helped many people with the little understanding she has been given of the truth. Imagine what she could do IF she embraced the fullness of the truth. WOW!

Now I’ll admit she’s not perfect, and she’s certainly not infallible, (but then again there’s only ONE person who is), but if you’re solid in your faith you can weed out the heretical parts of her talks and hold on to the pearls of wisdom.

I believe we should all pray for Joyce Meyer, that she will embrace the fullness of the truth and come home to Rome. I mean this most sincerely, I’m not just speaking holy talk! Can you imagine the impact of the conversion of somebody like Joyce Meyer, who is so in the public eye? If everyone who reads this would PRAY (not just say) one “Hail Mary” for her conversion, I’m sure our Blessed Mother would hear our prayers.

PRAYER:signofcross:
Blessed Mother we ask you to lead Joyce Meyer into the fullness of the truth, which is full Communion with the body of Christ, our holy Mother Church. We ask this through your son, our Lord Jesus Christ, who lives and reigns with God the Father in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God forever and ever. Amen

"Hail Mary…"
:signofcross:

Well, I sent Joyce Meyer a copy of the book:
Catholic for A Reason III: Scripture and the Mystery of the Mass, and I got back a very specific and very kind thank-you letter from her and her husband Dave.

I hope they read the book…

Specific how?

Specific meaning it wasn’t a “form” letter.
It was specific to what I had sent her and was PERSONAL.
She also said that she regards it as Divine Providence reaching out to her when someone sends her a doctrinal book like that, because she feels God wants her to read and understand this topic. That’s why I hope the Holy Spirit bears witness to her of the book’s truth. I hope her Protestant background doesn’t “blind” her to what is in the book.

^That is AWESOME!! How great that she responded like that to you.👍

How great that you responded to the Holy Spirit’s prodding to send that to her. ❤️

That is very cool. I have a little respect for her now for being open minded and courteous to you. Moreover, it sounds like she will read the book!!🙂

**How great that you responded to the Holy Spirit’s prodding to send that to her. **

I felt led to send it to her.
I also sent a copy of the book to Kirk Cameron.
And a copy of the book to Paul and Jan Crouch at TBN.
I received a very warm and gracious thank-you letter
from Paul Crouch expressing his delight and gratitude
for the book.

I read a lot of the posts, but not all, its lunch hour after all.

Am I like Joyce Meyer?

Just catching your attention…

5 years of rough time in my life, I found her and TBN.
Tried a couple churches. Asked questions about scripture.
Tongues, we don’t do that here.
Keys of the Kingdon, we don’t know anything about that.
This is Neophyte Year plus one.

Joyce, whatever she truly is, seemed to me to talk about God,
be honest about her private life troubles and how she made it
through them.

Guess I would tend to call her a flashlight, or a stepping stone.

Saw her in person at an arena, with my prayer partner.
TV does indeed add 10 lbs.

I pray the best for her and the rest, the netmakers have
something to do with the fishermen bringing in the fish.

Praying over my pantyhose last Sunday worked, became
a Godmother, with no runs.

Oh Boy! I’d love to see Kirk Cameron wake up to the truth. That would be great. 😃

And you are right about nice people.🙂
