I am afraid of any terrorist organization.
However, ISIS has grown powerful very quickly and seems to be well financed! They have a lot of influence over smaller terrorist groups, like Boko Haram, plus they seem organized and know how to use socisl media to their advantage.
I used to feel the exact same way.

Know that practically EVERY country on the face of this earth HATES the Islamic State.

There are even rumors about the United States working alongside Iran and Saudi Arabia against the Islamic State.

EVEN Al-Queda hate the Islamic State.

Trust me, they DO NOT have a chance in Hell of affecting any real damage.

I doubt if the christians of iraq, syria and africa would agree with you because they have seen plenty of damage. And other muslim and religious groups also.
I think they are very determined and have already caused a lot of psycholical trauma and thousands of people have had to flee or are fleeing their homes. It might not be on as grand a scale here, but I fully believe they can do plenty of damage and should be taken seriously.

How do you figure?

The United States has vowed to destroy the Islamist State, practically the entire Middle East hates them.

The United States is leading a coalition of Egypt, Iraq, Jordan, Lebanon, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, United Arab Emirates, U.K., Germany, France, Italy, Denmark, Poland, Turkey, Canada, and Australia.

This is not counting the 40 or so ADDITIONAL nations whose names have not yet been revealed.

It is literally THE WORLD against ISIS.

If ISIS is the product of ideology, then defeating them requires brains not bombs.

In the same way that people were talked into becoming ISIS supporters, it is imperative that they now be talked out of their hatred, and talked out of their mistaken belief that the ideological end they desire justifies the means.

Sadly, the Western World has, for the last 50 years, been engaged in an act of unilateral “spiritual disarmament” as we blindly race down the path of secularism with New Atheists banging their ungodly drums everywhere these days.

So who can talk these ISIS people “down from the ledge” so to speak?

The great, enlightened and rational Richard Dawkins?

THANK YOU!!! Yes, seriously? When we divide ourselves with silly titles like right wing left wing then we allow terrorists to rise.
I hate the term right wing terrorist. sure, there are racist terrorists. but if you say right wing, people take that to mean all conservatives or republicans, if you say christian identity group people think you mean all christians…
Terrorism is evil.

What bothers me though is that whenever radical Islam gets significant momentum like with IS, some on the American left seem to do their best to make sure that we all know that right-wing militias/radicals or whatever are a really big deal.

Meanwhile, a group of some 30,000 strong Islamists are threatening NYC and The White House.

Terrorism is evil if it comes from the extreme religious fanatics or the right wing fanatics. We can’t condemn one and protect the other. They both live on fear.

I was watching Megyn Kelly the other night, and she noted that we don’t have much help at all right now, because the rest of the world isn’t sure if the Obama Administration will be committed and won’t engage in half-measures.

Disliking or even hating ISIS isn’t enough.

I don’t even think we as Catholics are allowed to hate.

I think there’s a great reason for concern. Those people are ruthless and have nothing but hatred for us in their hearts. I’m definitely worried and fear out country isn’t doing enough to protect us from more terrorist attacks.

They have made such a name for themselves in such a short amount of time, have tens of thousands of followers and are more intimidating and more evil than Al-Qaeda in my opinion. They are growing in numbers and i feel like if we dont take any drastic actions they will grow strong enough to infiltrate and attack our borders (considering we also have reports of ISIS followers in the US). That is my biggest fear: Are they capable of overthrowing and and causing mass murder on our own soil?
I am not at all afraid of ISIS.

They may be able to effect some few nasty acts on our own soil, but such acts are *in no way *a threat to us.

The only damage they can do to us is emotional. And not even that if we do not give them that power.

I have never known any right wing terrorist. I only know and see left wing terrorists who promote abortion and the persecution of religious freedom, especially Christianity. Why does poster "soma’ was confused the fact and post the wrong accusation? Maybe that is a left wing strategy as usual?

That might be a little naive.

What really frightens me is that ISIS is using social media to promote themselves… They have a Youtube channel! The beheading videos are excellent quality… Truly, these are 21st century terrorists.

Yes and that is what makes them so dangerous!

Have you watched the beheading videos in their entirety?
I can’t make myself do that. I saw one years ago. It might have been Daniel Pearl’s. That was enough for me.

I have only seen the James Foley video, and that was enough to make me cry uncontrollably. I don’t think I could bear witnessing another one.

Yes once is enough. I don’t know how they can sit there so calm while the man in black is talking and brandishing the big knife. What a horrible death!
