Anyone ever find Chick Tracts put on their cars' windshields?

I found a chick tract on my windshield today when out shopping with my new wife of one month. May have been there because I put a pearl rosary brought by my wife from Brazil on my rear view mirror on our wedding day.

I decided to read it for laughs…I ended up feeling irritated, especially when it used a Bible verse referring to Babylon as referring to the Catholic Church. It also ignores multiple Bible verses that support the sacraments of the Eucharist, Confession, etc…

Anyone ever have this happen? Thanks and God bless.

This once happened to my while I was at mass on a Sunday. I guess someone came around with some Chick Tracts and put them on everyone’s car windshields during mass.

When I was a Protestant I attended a Baptist church for a period of time that had them in the narthex of the church. I read a few and found them to be absolutely horrible and off-putting. They depicted atheists and secular teachers like they were angry monsters prowling about looking for Christians to ridicule. I never experienced that in public school or at any of the colleges I’ve went to. To me those tracts came off as self-righteous condemnation of non-Christians that will only serve to push people away from the faith. As a Protestant and now Catholic (joining the Church at Easter), I would burn any of those tracts that anyone left on my car.

Yes, that happened at my parish many years ago. The best thing you can do is just pray for those who put the tracts there.

If they weren’t blanketed around, chances are, you were targeted for the Rosary. Kind of sad to think that there are Catholics who’ve been led astray by these tracks’ lies.

Funnily enough, Trent Horn just spoke on the whole Babylon thing in his podcast recently.

Also, I haven’t gotten any of these. I have had Uber drivers with Jehovah’s Witness tracts in their car. One time after one dropped me off, I noticed the same tract hanging onto the gate at my apartment complex. I’m wondering if the two events are related or if it was just coincidence.

I used to find them all the time, now it’s pretty rare. I remember finding one when I was a kid. It scared me to death, I had nightmares for weeks

what’s a chick tract? I’m guessing its some type of pamphlet?

They’re total rags written by Jack Chick with comic book style illustrations that print slanderous lies about Catholics, depicting them as ugly, swearing, mean, hypocritical people who wind up in Hell for their Catholicism. They attack your typical strawmen beliefs about Catholicism (“we are saved by works”, “we worship Mary and God”, etc.) and promote outright lies about the Church (we have a registry of all Protestants on earth, Jesuit assassins and blood oaths, nuns are prostitutes for priests, etc.).

Here’s an article from Jimmy Akin about him and when he met Jack Chick:

@Fauken… thanks for the information. I might have seen them without knowing what they were. are they like little comic books, that look about the size of a pamphlet, maybe a little smaller?

@Donald_S, you’re funny, cause that does sound kind of cool.

They’re so awful I can’t believe anybody would read them and take them seriously. I remember people used to leave them in the restrooms when I worked retail. I remember reading how the pope had giant secret computers in the Vatican to keep track of all the laity. I would routinely flush them down the toilet where they belonged.

I had never heard of chick tracts until I became Catholic. I have never even seen one in person! I am
68 years old. So I am not sure how common it is for them to be passed out any longer.

Yep. Most Chick tracts show a protagonist ensconced, often happily or at least indifferently, in one sin or another, and end with him either repenting and accepting Christ as his Saviour or, less often but perhaps more memorably, dying in his sin and going to Hell. As far as that goes, there’s nothing objectionable from a Catholic point of view. However, as other posters have already said, Chick devoted no small number of his works to decrying the Catholic Church as a tool of the Devil. Another artist has been producing new tracts since his death; whether he has continued beating the drum against Catholicism I don’t know, for I’ve seen only one of his books and it had nothing to say on the matter.

Never had it happen to me, but if it did, I would chuck it into the recycling bin.
