Thank you to everyone on this thread
It’s so special to have people to pray with and support.
God Bless and have a lovely weekend

Dear Jesus
Please bless everyone who is seeking a loving partner. Help them to hope in you fully and to trust in you completely. Please guide each of us to the person with whom we can grow in ever closer union with you and who will help us to fulfill your holy will. May we love you each day more and more
Amen

yah… i’ll never get married even though i’m 16. i’m to f-ing shy and introverted. yeah you can pray to God and stuff, but God isn’t going to make you a social person. i don’t really have any friends, cuz i hate excesive talking… it just wears me out. and to get a gf you have to be the most social person on the planet or otherwise a “bada**”.

this sucks for me cuz my family are devout Catholics and my parents are very social and i feel like i’ll never be like them. i also have all the quality traits of a good father and i love women, but i just can’t talk to them. i’m begginnig to be extremely cynical of people(example would be high school… i hate it so much…its hell) and love, cuz of my shyness. its probably the most helpless, worthless, hopeless feeling in the world. God made me to be single and no interact with other people. this all so sucks cuz i’m currently going through the Dark Ages of my life and our religion is sunshine and lollipops, everything is great, love God. and all that stuff, when i’m just so depressed and tired all the time

any suggestions?.

i just want to die to put myself out of this misery(well not suicide)! there’s more to life than just love/relationships. it only accounts for .01% of life. this is,if not , the most hopeless feeling i can ever think of. God made shy people like me to be single, not married, but thats just my opinion. i hate being introverted!!!

Hey outcast, there are some girls who like the quiet guys. I know 😉 ! I just finished high school, and it was such a relief to have it over and done with. So, if it helps any, just remember that tthe hell of HS society will end someday, and keep being you and doing the things you like and pray to God and all the regular advice, and wait out the storm.

Hope that helps… 🤓

When I was 16 I was very depressed, at one point I realized there was no point in getting out of bed ever again. The only thing I thought worth living for was seeing a good movie now and again.
However people change as they get older, thank God, and I now am grateful to God every day for my mostly enjoyable life.
I’ve always been introverted too, would rather read than hang out with people most of the time, but you will probably outgrow a lot of your introversion.
Don’t give up on your life yet, you’ve barely started. God has a wonderful plan for you, you may be surprised yet.

Heavenly Father please grant the prayers of all in this thread who are seeking loving life-partners. Please bring them together soon, as though for You "a thousand years are a single day, a yesterday now over, an hour of the night.” [Psalm 90:4] for those waiting for the right person to love and be loved by, a day can be a thousand years!
I ask this in the name of Jesus.

Oh Outcast, we want you to stay around.
I was the shyest person this side of the black stump. Now…not!
I’m the first to smile, the first to reach out to someone warmly…instead of waiting sadly for someone to notice and care, outside of my family.
A big hug, Trishie

We’ll be prayng for you. 🙂

Hi outcast

I’m really shy myself and was especially so during highschool. It does get better as you get older. Being shy also has its good qualities- perhaps you are reflective and quite perceptive of others? Oh and its amazing how God can overcome shyness with courage at moments when you most need it and least expect it.

Praying for you:thumbsup:

I found this thread after typing “dating” in the CAF search.

Dating and the possibility of marriage is something that’s been particularly strong on my mind lately. But I don’t just want to date any ol’ person, but would love to find someone sensible who shares a love for God and all things Catholic. I’ve come to realize that I need such a person in my life as much as I want such a person.

Unfortunately, I fear the opposite sex! Well, not so much fear, but it seems that I stumble for things to say and ultimately walk away whenever I’m approached by someone who I think I may be interested in learning more about. I don’t have the greatest self-esteem either, mostly due to finances (car loan, credit card debt due to mostly student loans and travel expenses) and so I have conditioned myself into believing that no good woman (much less Catholic) deserves someone like me, even though I know the Lord has blessed me with many redeeming qualities, such as being a hard worker, having patience, being very loving and willing, knowing how to cook 😃 etc…

I trust that the Lord will lead me, but I don’t trust myself. I have this strong feeling that if the Lord was to place in my path who He thought I should marry, then I would probably just say something awkward and embarassing before walking away.

Aw, Epistemes, don’t be nervous about us!
You said, “I know the Lord has blessed me with many redeeming qualities, such as being a hard worker, having patience, being very loving and willing” Absolutely wonderful characteristics! A good Catholic woman would be very blessed to have you as her spouse.

As for debts and loans, they are transistory things and can be dealt with. You can’t conjure up the above-mentioned characteristics at will, so what possible comparison do they have to your debts!

As you’ve in your own words, 'conditioned yourself to a low self-image and to disaster in pursuing relationship…now please condition yourself to the reverse! Bit by bit. Regularly picture yourself in a situation where you present yourself, communicate, and succeed as you would like. Walk hogu it in your imagination often enough to convince yourself…which will communicate to others…and if you have a couple of apparent failure in your actual encounters, don’t you dare give up!

You’re a tresure, so begin to take that on beard, Love.

God bless, Trishie

On your behalf I say this prayer…written from my own times of beating myself up!

Confidence in God’s merciful love

God, You command that I forgive and rightly cherish myself. Like many people in human history, I often find it difficult to sincerely and consistently love the ‘self’ that I find mirrored in my consciousness. I know that You can bring me to appreciate the miracle and privilege of my existence!

How can I refuse to love what God loves! You treasure me, as You love and treasure each unique, human person that You create. Yet I need much grace to love this betrayer of my true being and purpose, myself! I betray Your loving creation of me by failing to be fully ‘the person I am created to be’.

You love each person so much that it led to the incarnation of Your divine Son, and to His redemption of humankind. Jesus is Your response to my betrayal of my destiny and me. Yet frequently I am unconvinced or indifferent before these astounding gifts of divine love for me and for every person!

Please give me grace to value each person as Your beloved and eternal gift. Inspire me with faith and gratitude for the gift of myself, for the lives of dear ones and of all people. Grant that these human gifts are shaped by Your love to become everlasting gifts to You, and through You, eternal gifts to each other person.

Through Jesus, You taught us that cheerful, loving mutual service of others leads to fulfilment of Your creative will. Therefore, give me grace to faithfully say ‘yes’ to Your loving purpose by active respect and charity to others and me. Delight Yourself in me by forming me into the unselfish, joyful, helpful and prayerful person You dreamed me to be for You and others’ souls for time and eternity. 1999

And, another of my such prayers,

** ‘Love others…as yourself’**
Jesus when You command us to love others as ourselves, You require something more challenging than simply to “love others.” The embedded touchstone in that command is “love your self.”

Many people lack proper self-esteem, making it difficult for them to genuinely value others. However, Scripture exhorts, “value yourself at your proper worth. Who can justify a man who runs himself down, or respect a man who despises himself.” [Ecclesiasticus 10:28-29]

If we do fail to love ourselves correctly, we cannot accept God’s love. Let us never imagine ourselves hidden from Your mercy: ‘“Can anyone hide in a dark corner without my seeing him?’ asks the Lord.” [Jeremiah 23-24]

The concept of rightly loving oneself in order to love others as God’s precious children may be confused with the selfishness that ruins unselfish self-love. It requires us to reject negative self-talk and responses. “If a man is mean to himself, to whom will he be good?” [Ecclesiasticus 14:3].

Growth in Christian self-love is facilitated by “filling your mind with everything that is true, everything that is noble, and everything that is pure and good” [Philippians 4:8] and serving “in works of love.” It is allowing the Spirit to direct your life and then “you will be in no danger of yielding to self-indulgence. What the Spirit brings is…love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, trustfulness, gentleness and self-control.” [Galatians 5:13, 16, 26, 22-23]

Jesus, help us to fittingly love ourselves. You do not wish us to disparage ourselves but to see ourselves as loved, forgiven children of God.

A poor self-image may compare to our perception of ‘clouds’. To observers, clouds appear to be impressive, substantial and tangible. However, within themselves the clouds seem damp, insubstantial and misty.

Jesus, let us not belittle ourselves in comparison to others because of our personal uncertainties and inadequacies. Let us live in sincere acceptance of self, that unique gift of Your creative love. help us to see ourselves as loved children of God.

Jesus, help me to know that You really love me. Help me to love myself so that I can love You and others love others truly.

…love, Trishie. Don’t you dare be mean to yourself again!!! You’re a good and beautiful person!

Dear Trishie,

Thank you for these lovely prayers. I’ve saved them so that whenever I’m feeling particularly down about myself I can turn to them and re-realize how valuable I am to God’s plan. I’ve experience alot of disappointment and a lot of negative reinforcement in my life, especially over the course of the past year, but God willing that will all change for the better now.

Thank you, and God bless!

Thank you. You have a generous heart, I’m sad for the disappointments and negative reinforcements in your life, and claim for you, of the Father, in the name of His Son, that you will now begin to flourish, even in the face of any future difficulties.

I will copy Trishie’s prayer, it’s very nice:D

Pater Noster, qui es in Caelis. Sanctificetur nomen tuum, adveniat regnum tuum, fiat voluntas tua, sicut in caelo et in terra. Panem nostrum quotidianum da nobis hodie, et dimittie nobis debita nostra, sicut et nos dimittimus debitoribus nostris, et ne nos inducas in tentationem, sed libera nos a malo. Amen.

I’ve been hurt two times already when I was in a serious relationship, twice bitten twice shy I think the meaning goes.

Because I ended up getting hurt after remaining faithful and
giving my all I have opted to stay single for the rest of my life.

No more getting hurt for me.

Barry
Sorry you been hurt Barry I guess it’s just part of the chance you take when dating. I’ve been hurt by guys a lot myself so I know where you’re coming from. When they disappear it’s like saying I’m not even good enough to say goodbye to.  Their loss. Anyway I recommend holding you head up and treading the water again. One good friend of mine a never married single guy just found someone and he been single 50 years. So who knows. 👍

the hardest thing about my situation is that people are very intersested in me,especially girls, but yet i don’t know what to say.
if i just spoke out…i probably wouldn’t have wrote that. i’m to worried about hurting other’s feelings and talking always fatigues me to death. maybe this is God’s way of telling me i’m single… kind of a cruel way though. could of been more surreal, but okay.

Outcast, you are not condemned to be single as a result of having difficulty with talking and interacting with girls. I think you may be fatigued afterwards because you are so stressed and tighten up because of stress, which makes you tired.

I recall being so nervous of people that sometimes I couldn’t even reply if someone spoke to me. I would go to any lengths to avoid inconveniencing anyone. When you are shy like that you can’t say much, and you think of something good to say long after others’ have moved on in their converstaion. After a contact, you can so over-think what has been said or what you didn’t do right, and so you’re all tense about that. It took a while but I’ve been so friendly for years.

I have a son who is nervous of relationship because he lost the girl he loved. And ther is actually one who is interested, but to get him to make any move towards her is like trying to pick up mercure. It frustates me because he thinks he’s boring etc…but her isn’t …so he won’t/can’t make the effort. She’s an intelligent girl, cairing towards other, a good Catholic, great sense of humour…I could ‘crown’ him!

Jesus please help this my little brother to become more kind to himself, more trusting…and happy!

Sorry to everyone for the delay in getting the new list posted!

Thank you to all who have been faithfully praying, and to those who have shared the beautiful prayers and messages of encouragement! Wow! 😃

and all others who are not mentioned**

I am praying for each of us by (screen)name as often as possible.

I am praying that God will make each of us ready for our future spouse (and them ready for us), lead us to each other, and to pour out grace upon us to give us strength and hope while we’re waiting. :heaven:

Thank you to all who are joining in prayer for these intentions. If I’ve missed anyone, or if anyone would like to be added to this list, please post here or send me a PM … same applies to anyone who is on the list and wants to be removed (I certainly don’t want to offend or make anyone uncomfortable!).

May Our Lord bless these intentions, and may the Blessed Virgin Mary and St Joseph intercede for us.

:gopray:

There is nothing wrong with you in the least, every guy has this problem of freezing up and not knowing what to say, very few guys are spontaneous, I usually have to plan what to say, get a few things to say. If it is any help, even Elvis had that ‘problem’, it’s not just you, it’s everyone. You just have to swallow your pride, keep a calm look about you and hope for the best.

You are 16 right? That means from here you can only get better when dealing with this. Cheers
