Update. Nothing really but I’ve been corresponding with Gent from a dating site (yes I’ve done the online thing for years and am always cautious). We’re supposed to meet in a week so. I’m not saying I think he’s the love of my life or anything. I don’t take online relationships too seriously but he did respond to my profile without a picture posted and seems like a nice guy so who knows what will happen. I’ve had to kiss a lot of frogs lately. He’s catholic too and has never been married so wish me luck. Ok…yeah it’s been awhile since I’ve had a date so I’m a little pessimistic about it. In other words we’ll see what happens. 🤷
Wishing you all the best for it:)

Wow…well I have my first ever date tomorrow! And I don’t doubt it a bit that the prayers offered up here have helped a lot and in the prayer intentions forum.

I am doing a novena for all you guys tomorrow and will continue it.
God Bless

God bless you, buddy! Will remember to offer the Holy Mass for your intentions. Also, tomorrow is the day of the three Archangels, St. Michael, St. Gabriel and St. Raphael. Ask for the intercession of St. Raphael, who has made Tobias meet Sarah.

I am praying for each of us by (screen)name as often as possible.

I am praying that God will make each of us ready for our future spouse (and them ready for us), lead us to each other, and to pour out grace upon us to give us strength and hope while we’re waiting. :heaven:

Thank you to all who are joining in prayer for these intentions. If I’ve missed anyone, or if anyone would like to be added to this list, please post here or send me a PM … same applies to anyone who is on the list and wants to be removed (I certainly don’t want to offend or make anyone uncomfortable!).

May Our Lord bless these intentions, and may the Blessed Virgin Mary and St Joseph intercede for us.

I honestly thought I would never get married.

I had dated my boyfriend for 12 years and he was vehemently against getting married. It made me terribly sad.

But then, this spring, out of the blue, he said he was ready.

We got married in July of this year.

I never thought I’d be the one wearing a wedding ring, and I feel so deeply for everyone who longs, as I did for 12 years, to get married. I can honestly say you never know what might happen.

I’ll keep you all in my prayers.
Thanks for sharing this story, Stella … it really does give me (and I’m sure others) hope! 👍

And sincere thanks for your prayers … they mean so much to all of us who are still waiting. 🙂

Yes…it was so bad when I met my first husband I rushed into it…married a year after I met him and for what…to be with an abusive man, a family that didn’t like me, and many problems with my mother…I never got the chance to marry him through our Catholic church since he was not a devout Catholic, so that added to our problems, separation and thus divorce…Now I have been dating this man for almost 3 years, to a devout Catholic, great man, whom loves my kids, and he has proposed…Well I have been having problems with my mother again, and his mother, etc…I put a thread here for advice over my situation and everyone has pretty much adviced for me to just concentrate on my kids and pretty much forget about my own love…that’s pretty much what they made me feel like…in other words pointing towards the “doom” of being a single mom because I will never get along with his mother, and my mother and it will cause more problems in the long run, shouldn’t get the children involved with the problems, wait till they get older and let this great man go and wish him good luck, even though he wishes to make a lifelong commitment with me and love my 3 children and marry me through God’s sacred sacrament of Catholic marriage, but I should let him make the next woman he meets happy, leaving me wondering what if that would have been me with that great man!!! 🤷
Don’t feel bad…really…I guess some people are meant to be wed and others to just want…
I know I have been found wanting…
I don’t believe that you have been found wanting at all, iluv … since he has proposed to you, it sounds to me as though are you very MUCH wanted! 🙂

Please don’t let the negativity of others ruin your chance at happiness. He sounds like a wonderful man; any problems you have with family can be handled, if you both stick together and love each other!

I’ll pray that Mary Undoer of Knots will intercede to untangle all your family problems so that your marriage plans can move forward! :hug3:

Prayers for you that all will go well!

I know (oh, believe me I know!) how hard it can be to allow yourself to get your hopes up after past disappointments. I will be praying for you, Sierrah. I completely understand what you’re going through.

I’m cheering you on from the sidelines! 👍

I will probably never meet anyone and get married. I am ok with this. God knows what is best for me, and if I am not to get married then so be it. Better to accept it early in your life rather than later. It gives you more time to focus on helping the Church, in whatever ways you can.

Remember that nobody ever added a day to her life by anxiety. In fact, if you accept reality and relax, you may become more attractive too. Nobody wants to marry someone who acts as if you are the last lifeboat off the Titanic.

If you spinster ladies look around, you will find plenty of work waiting for your hands, to help all those who have made the decision that it is better to be Mrs. Nobody than Miss Somebody, and now are paying for it in the coin of their souls. That will include your nephews and nieces, Big Brothers and Sisters, and the 25% of girls who come to the teen drop-in centre either pregnant or with young babies and children. Spinsters have held the world together throughout history. We have a role and it is a good one and can even be fun. Better to spend your time looking for a way to live than camp out in your own life until The Prince comes to Make You Whole.

I STRONGLY recommend prayers to St. Jude, infact I can’t stress it enough. I did a novena and am still doing it, it brought me so many things that definitely wouldn’t have happened without his intercession.

He is recognized officially by the Catholic Church as the patron saint of hopeless cases and desperate situations, and oh boy is he prompt as it says in the prayers, he was also of course a relative of Jesus.

I don’t see where my post said I felt any anxiety, or that I haven’t accepted reality. I am a guy, just in case you thought otherwise.

Heavenly Father please grant the prayers of all in this thread who are seeking loving life-partners. Please bring them together soon, as though for You "a thousand years are a single day, a yesterday now over, an hour of the night.” [Psalm 90:4] for those waiting for the right person to love and be loved by, a day can be a thousand years!
I ask this in the name of Jesus

Wishing you all the best for it:)
I spoke too soon. After a phone conversation with the Gent tonight I realized it’s not going to happen. It wasn’t the jail time, his DWI sentence or his born again SBaptist conversion that threw me off keel more his overall attitude. He ruled me out right away I’m sure when the PMS question came up At least I hope he did. 🤷 I’m praying I won’t hear from him. His profile is a bit misleading for instance it doesn’t mention he was married before and divorced. He also mentioned having money quite frequently… Like I’m supposed to care about that. Sorry if this sounds like a rant I’m actually relieved I know not to waste my time this with bloke anymore.

Wow, Sierrah

As you said, it’s a great blessing you found out all this now, rather than later.

One question (if you don’t mind answering either here or in PM): which online service are you using, and do you find a great number of men like you’ve described above? Worrisome to those of us who may be considering the “online” option 😦

I’ve been on catholic sites too and it’s about the same there. It just seems to be my luck to attract only the strange ones or non commitment types. 🤷 The nice guys I did meet were anticatholic… This was plentyoffish.com. It’s a free site. Honestly I don’t find the catholic sites any better. I thought I’d try it as another way to meet people :hmmm: Back to the drawing board.

I am 60 and have never been married, and odds are pretty good that I will never marry now, as most men my age are looking for young arm candy, “a nurse or a purse.”

I have had a very happy life so far and have many male friends (I get along with guys much better than I do with women, as I enjoy sports, racing, politics and travelling as opposed to dishes, diapers, scandal and divorce); I live alone with my cat and my internet keeps me in touch with a world-wide network of friends, all of whom I have met and visited in person. I have been to 42 countries and stood on every continent, and have been of assistance to my sisters and my family when they need me; I do volunteer work and I spend a lot of time going to motor races.

I am barraged by busybodies who demand to know why I “DIDN’T” get married (they assume that nobody my age ever will marry, so they don’t ask why I “DON’T” get married anymore) and who assure me that I will be miserably unhappy in my old age because I didn’t marry. However, I point out that my four sisters have had 9 husbands and 8 divorces among them so far, and most of them will be as alone as I am, if not less so because they will have ME as long as my health is good.

I just tell them that some people ought not to be married, and I am one of those. I am a Victorian spinster and feel that God has ordained that I remain that way. So I am happy.

P.S. If you act desperate to get married, men will leave skid marks running away from you.
I definitely agree with you on the P.S…even though mine didn’t leave me I left him, the hurry that I was in, I really made an ***** of myself doing so…I have 3 children and even though this new love of mine wishes to wed through the church, which is something I didn’t do with my first husband…I am afraid it isn’t really something for me…Everything about his family and mine not getting along brings me back to my ex…no comparison though completely different people. But when I posted on getting advice here with our fellow Catholic members, I was adviced not to marry at all…so it gives me the sense as if marriage is not really meant for me, at least not the catholic marriage blessed through GOD. As if I am not meant to be happily married and blessed by God…And it does disappoint me because I have always wanted that for my children and myself. You know to have that family bond and love, not just with us but with also a father figure…and I love this man and he loves me but like some members from here have told me sometimes love isn’t enough…even though I believe otherwise…
I am not rushing into anything with this man, I have dated him for almost 3 years now with my ex it was right out of hs after dating for a year…Not just because I am older and have children and know better, but because of all the things I have gone through that make me feel as if this is not for me, as if everything is going against me on this life making decision…It’s a big step and I know about love and commitment, what I don’t understand is the reason why it doesn’t feel like it’s for me to ever be blessed through the sacrament of matrimony…

Thank you and GOD bless…I know the pressure and sometimes the sorrow of feeling alone and not being able to be happy with the one you love through the sacrament of marriage…I do wish everyone many blessings and may God hear our prayers!!! Take care…
