Anyone feel like they won't ever get married?

I wish to ask for prayers for some non CAF members who are unmarried:

All of the above are single christians and have become distrusting, jaded and a bit bitter. They find it rather impossible to trust new people and enter into loving relationships because they have all experienced some form of past hurts -whether it be they were lied to, deceived, used, manipulated, taken for granted, cheated on, or have experienced some other form of hurts and pains from past relationships. I know that all of us may have past heartaches and that all of us have been hurt…but some people I know in life just can’t seem to get paste those prior hurts or have experienced them repeatedly and now remain jaded. I just thought it might be nice for some prayers to those who are out there who do struggle with letting go of the past which may prevent them from moving into the future. It might not be appropriate for me to ask for this on this thread, as they are non-CAF members…however, each of them I know feel they won’t ever get married…yet each of them actually wants to.

I’m 26 and I feel the same way. Not too many people know this but I feel like I could share this here. I have had one serious reationship of 3 years, but that’s when I was 20. I am still a virgin, because I have always felt that that is the kind of gift that I would give to my future wife. I have had MANY opportunites to not be one, but I have such self control, it’s sick!! If some guys knew what I went through, they would hit me upside my head saying, “what were you thinking?!” Haha…anyways, my problem is that I keep meeting girls with baggage. I will go out to the bars and have fun. In fact, the girl I just finished dating, I found in a bar. Great girl, but I had to dump her because of the long distance realtionship. Wasn’t working. I get to thinking that I wasn’t meant for marriage, so I am content with being single. I just out it in the hands of Jesus. If it’s meant to be, it is. If not, then yeah, I’ll be disappointed, but it may mean that my life is meant for something greater.

I pray daily that I will find that person to be in my life. I use to say, “I haven’t found the right one, but am having fun with all the wrong ones!”. But as I get older, it’s getting to the point where I wish that the right one would come across my path. Until then, I will let Jesus take over that part of my life. Who knows what will happen…

That is exactly what my fiance went through! He started praying to St Philomena. Every nine days praying about whether he was meant for the priesthood or marriage! He was completely open to it. Then we met. Both VERY catholic. I had been praying novenas at the same time about the same thing. It was unbelievable. A miracle we found one another. The key is being patient. Funny thing was we were neighbors and he was just going around the block introducing himself to me and my old roommates.

And, just a suggestion if your looking for quality girls the bar is definitely not the place to go.

I know!! I just go out and have fun with my friends. I will say this, the girl I just finished dating, I met her at a bar. Great girl,good values and morals. But she lives in New York and I’m in Texas. The phone just got to be too much.

I know the bars aren’t the best place to meet people. It’s hard to meet someone with the same morals as myself. I thought I had it with my first serious relationship, but that fell through. Oh well. The only thing you can do is pray and not lose faith…I hope everyone out there that is going through the same thing as me will find what they are looking for ASAP!

He kept making comments that I “need to get a man” to help me with these things. Sigh. I dont need a man to drill a hole in the wall to install a shelf! A loving Catholic spouse would literally be God-sent, but I dont need my Dad reminding me to “get a man!” Now that I am 32, and all of my siblings are married with kids, he is starting to get worried.

I sometimes feel like i’m never going to get married. It’s so hard to meet girls now and days. I’m not a big party animal or hit the bars so it’s kind of hard. Plus I wouldn’t really want that kind of girl anyways. But yeah. Being single sucks sometimes. I can sure use a prayer to help find the right gal

Oh dear, some old attitudes don’t die easily, do they?

If you couldn’t do such tasks permanently then what’s to stop a friend (male or female) helping you or employing a handyperson.

But then some people still say to guys “make sure you marry someone who can cook”.

Now that I am 32, and all of my siblings are married with kids, he is starting to get worried.

I found the worst time for comments about me not being married were around 25 and then about 40. The first included people saying “I was leaving it a bit late”. Around 40 “it was I was leaving it too late.”

Must feel awful to be married to somone who said “yes” because they felt it was their last chance, even if it was only one of the factors.

Thanks so much for your prayers, and for the virtual bouquet! I needed both! Normally, I wouldn`t let such comments get to me so much, but with the eye surgery, I am already feeling a bit “down.”
