Thank you so much for your prayersā€¦ I have not been feeling well and been feeling down since I had to postpone my engagement with my fianceā€¦ Itā€™s been a really hectic road for us, especially after what happened last night with my daughterā€¦ Itā€™s just been so difficult to date anyone with children and to try and keep myself focused on my children above all and put myself lastā€¦ It has been very difficultā€¦

I am very scared that my relationship will end before it beginsā€¦ šŸ˜¦

May GOD help all those in this forum and guide us through the Holy Spiritā€¦God bless.

Is there a patron saint for unmarried folks? I tried doing a web search for one, but couldnā€™t find one.

. . . Some days I think maybe St. Jude? ;^)

I think St. Raphael is the patron saint of single people.

Recently read somewhere that the patron saint of single women is St. Agnes, and the patron saint of single men is St. Benedict Joseph Labre. I donā€™t know how trustworthy that source wasā€¦
 
Hey Everyone,

That questions seems to be on everyone mind, a couple of my friends and i were talking about it at a couple of days back and we agreed that being single in todays present world is terrible. everyone looks at you , as if you are wierd or something:(
 
Well, I finally did ask out the girl I had a crush on. She politely declined me, though I had been praying and preparing for so long that it didnā€™t bother me too much. That was more than a month ago, and I no longer have feelings for her. In fact being turned down meant that I had my answer, so I could stop wondering, which was somewhat liberating. Thankfully it doesnā€™t seem to have affected our friendship.

Unfortunately there are still emotional aspects within me that I canā€™t control. For instance if I see her interacting with other guys, unwanted ideas can sometimes get into my head.

In the last couple of days it has flared up, and Iā€™ve got more than a little annoyed at the fact that I canā€™t just let go of these thoughts. Whatā€™s really sad is that it makes me cynical about my own feelings and Iā€™m tempted to just not want to bother with the idea of relationships, itā€™s too complicated for me. At times I wish I could just shut down my emotions rather than go to war with them.

Anyway, apart form this recent flare-up, Iā€™ve been quite peaceful about my single state. I hope to marry one day, though I would like to know what God is trying to achieve in me before sending me a wife šŸ™‚ Iā€™ve never dated before so I have no idea of the complexities of being in a relationship.

Iā€™m praying for all of you here. I offer up Morwennaā€™s list at the end of every decade when I pray a Rosary alone. Iā€™m also praying for peace in our hearts.
 
Iā€™m just coming to the realization that anyone I become interested in will not be interested in me.
 
Thanks to all for all your prayers. I was dating (or maybe I wasnā€™t, we met for dinner a few times, but no romantic involvement, just really good friendship) a nice older Catholic lady, but she decided things wouldnā€™t get serious, and I was quite content with that.

I have considered asking someone out, but for some reason I never do.

Iā€™d also been sure that this valentineā€™s day I would try to re-establish contact with my ex, but now that the day is fast approaching, I no longer feel like it would be appropriate - partly because it would be too soon, partly because I donā€™t see how that relationship could work while Iā€™m studying for my doctorate, and partly because I donā€™t really know whether thatā€™s really my only option anymore.

Iā€™m also re-exploring a call to enclosed religious life, and donā€™t really know whether I ought to be dating at all until I know the answer to that. I have also realised that Iā€™m totally closed off to the idea of the priesthood, and need to pray that God will open me up to that possibility if itā€™s His will.

Iā€™ve really found that God has helped me to win the battle against lust in the last few months, Iā€™m just not looking at women that way anymore, but praying for their welfare instead. Though in the past few days Iā€™ve fallen back into a lack of custody of my eyes, so am in need of prayer! I just donā€™t know how I would get into a marriage situation without at some point lusting after a woman or desiring her for myself. I know I should look at it the other way around, what can I give to her, but even so, itā€™s hard to see what I have to give in a marriage situation, my gifts just seem of more use somewhere else.

I started to realise lately that while I am passionate about holy marriage and holy husbandhood, I could be an example of that to a woman if I really tried, but it would take a long time to get there. As a priest, I could preach about marriage to a few who might listen, but as a monk, I could pray for every married man in the whole world, both in this life and in eternity.

Not really sure my name should be on this list anymore.

Priests do pray for all. You should pray more about your vocation and especially have a spiritual director.
 
two words: iā€™m screwed. plain and simple. if God was calling me to marriage, thats like God telling a paraplygic with no arms to win a gold medal against michael phelps. its just not possible, that not even God could help. iā€™m to shy to talk say the simplest things and iā€™m so darn ackward where iā€™m comfronted with a person,even though iā€™m 16. i swear iā€™m from a different planet or something, cuz i cannot relate to anyone of this one. 'ill pray for all you guys.
 
I wouldnā€™t worry about that george4072. Iā€™m 23 and still havenā€™t been on a date or even had a girl like me. So thereā€™s hope for everyone. God can always help you, no matter how desperate it may seem to you.
 
My heart would jack hammer in my chest. I did not want to look at her. I did not want to stand in frount of her, I had the worst urge to get on my knees. I thought I would get better with age. No, I got worse. Girls came and went, but I still think of them every day. I have quite a list to keep track of. The best ones are the few who died. I like to think they went to heaven, and can read my thoughts, so I feel close to them. I ā€œtalkā€ to them all the time.
Not just girls either, I have extremely intense feelings regarding Catholics in general.
EXTREMELY INTENSE FEELINGS, that is the problem.
I did, once, have a girlfriend. It was a disaster. I hung on her every word. I treated her like she was the Pope, and Iā€™m afraid the Pope would be unnerved by my fanaticism.
The result in my life has been that I am profoundly isolated.
I have basically been in solitary confinement 40 years.

All I can figure is that God has some purpose in having made me this way.
