Why is two years older a bad thing? I’m almost twenty and most of my good guy friends are at least 2-4 years older. And yes, there are a couple I would date.

I often feel tempted to give up hope and give in to despair. I suspect that it is a common temptation for those of us who are still single. But that’s what it is - a temptation. The devil wants us to give in, but it certainly can be resisted. St. Paul says that hope - along with faith and love - is one of the 3 enduring virtues.

One scripture passage that helps me is Luke 1:45, in which Elizabeth says to the Blessed Mother, “Blessed are you who believed that what was spoken to you by the Lord would be fulfilled.”

Well to be honest, I’ve already had my crush on her years ago and gotten over it!
😛

And I signed up for the site to see what kind of other girls are out there that I don’t know already.

But like I said…I feel peaceful, like my situation here will work out. I don’t feel compelled to do anything on that dating site. lol
Let’s hope that’s a good sign for me:D

Are there any Asperger Support Groups near you? Perhaps in such an environment you might meet people more sensitive to your disorder.

There are a few. I was actually thinking about trying one out next year, however, my boss told me I might need to move to graveyard shift next month 😦 Hopefully, I’ll be able to find a new job soon.

I do not know what you do or where you live but here in NJ there is no job market unless you do something very very specialized and that is no guarentee of work.

Father, in Jesus’ name please give confidence and means for those who are painfully shy or unable to find someone with whom to share their life. Please have compassion on lonely and discouraged people. I ask that you also bring together good souls who are so busy and stressed that they haven’t time to seel a loving partner

awwwwww…belgarion…
there are plenty of nice young catholic women out there…
but now you must sit and wait till God picks the right time for you to meet the one.
yes, i had a miserable experience today.

i felt really down this wk and last, so i called this dude that liked me really badly about 2 years ago (m, and yes, i did like him bak at one stage). and man, i thought he had broken up with his girl because of his fb status (little did I know). so i called - talked for a good solid 50mins. and felt like an idiot toward the end. because i was like - ‘o hey, do you want to hang out next wk?’ and he said, ‘umm, yeah, later.’ me: ‘so like x place or y place?’ and he replyed, ‘im really busy, i dont usually like going out alot.’ me: ‘ok, locally so at z place? and its with my good friend, v.’ and then he said: ‘o well, im really busy maybe next year or somthing or like, wait, i dont mean to reject you but…(stumbling over words).’ me: ‘so ok, you dont want to hang out with me, thats fine.’ (but made it sound sorta sarcastic) him: ‘yeah…im sorry… i dont mean to reject you but im just way busy.’ (that went on for a solid 5 mins - ah) and it ended with me saying: ’ o well in that case - il see you when I see you.’ him: no by or anything and just hung up on me…
anyways - turns out he is in fact waiting for this girl that he says he is ‘friends’ with and i thought they had gone out/broken up coz of fb status. but in fact - he is waiting for the girl to finish school.
man, i think im in love with the feeling of being accepted and asked out. i once really badly liked him but then i got over him and no longer have those feelings.
and i think i sound like im going insane with what i did today. I feel so wierded out because man, when i feel down - i always feel like ringing him - i dunno - maybe for acceptance or somthing because i never usually speak to him now. anyways with the story, i then texted him saying - ‘im sorry if i came across as flirtatious. i was meaning can we hang out as friends. sorry again. ttyl.’
i dunno, is that the right thing to do??..ah, geez, i stuffed up big time.

Your story sounds all to familiar, in fact it very much resembled the kind of relationship I used to have with a female friend of mine 😊. Anyway from your post it doesn’t sound like you called him to be “hanging out as friends”, but rather you wanted to have a substitute boyfriend experience. So what you wrote afterwords was a lie. My guess is that you either wanted to get him to meet you, or you were concerned about the way he would perceive you after the embarrassing phone conversation. Either way, it is beneath you.

Given his obvious lack of interest in you, I would erase both his phone number and his e-mail. That way, you are not going to call him in the future ;).

God bless you

Poor Lenni…Do you want me to kick his butt?

…kidding…But how can I help ya feel better?

Lenni you are not an idiot, only human like the rest of us :). Trust me, most people can relate. Still if you keep calling him whenever you are down, I think you should get rid of his phone number and email.

God bless you

Lenni, leave him alone. He’s not interested or at least he’s more interested in that other girl. I’ve made a resolution that if anyone gives me that kind of treatment, I’m simply not asking again. I was like that before, but that was for the wrong reasons. I simply wanted to reject those who rejected me. Now not so, but what’s the point goading someone into finding time for me if someone else would want to spend that time with me without my pressuring for it? There are moments in my life when I barely have the time to talk to my closest friends. Especially in such circumstances as those, I shouldn’t be spending that time in unwilling company if there are any people that actually miss me.

And I understand how you feel. I’ve seen some. I remember things like being turned down by every woman present at a dance. 😃 😃

Outcast:

Unless you have a strenuous job, constant fatigue could easily be a form of depression. Perhaps if you spoke to someone and it did turn out to be depression your tiredness could be illeviated and you would feel more social.

just a thought,
Marsha
i probably have one of the BIGGEST work ethic personalites there is. for me, i like to get the job done as soon as its assign. its like obessive compulsive. so therefore, i like to keep myself busy all the time, which tires me until i’m done, which leave no time to socialize. just how i am. i have a slight case of depression, but my mom’s side had like a terrible case of it. plus i got a biblical plague of acne all over me(seriously people can’t even pat me on the back since i have so much. it hurts terribly when it happens), so i guess worrying all about that stuff makes me tired.

btw… i’m taking every single kind of high powered acne medicine there is (derm peels, manual blackhead surgery, you name it)… so i am DEFINETLY fighting my acne, just in case you’re wondering.

not to deflate you or anything, but we can pray all we want, but as long as shy people are shy…its not gonna happen. thats just textbook. its not like it going to magically fall in our lap.i love the praying stuff and all, but its not like God is going to transform shy people over night to be social.God created shy people for a reason… to be shy. not to sound like a jerk or anything, but thats just my two cents

Agree a personality transplant is very, very unlikely.

But what we shy people can do is to learn some of the skills that our more outgoing friends seem to have naturally.

And sometimes it helps to remember that there are aspects of us shy/shyer people that our more outgoing friends admire and wish they had. Then the boot is on the other foot and they have to learn those things that come naturally to us.

ummmm…is it a bad thing that i…well…this is the 4th time in 2yrs iv done that. but generally, i only contemplated it. man, and and every time - i always have the stupid idea of, hey we could prob go back to 2yrs ago. and yeah, i swear he prob thinks im shallow…
coz well, lets just say i broke his heart…ummm…pretty badly 2 yrs ago.
anyways, if the best thing to do is never talk 2 him again - ok, il try, but dam it! im sooo annoyed that 2yrs ago, he didnt have the nerve to ask me out!! and im just also annoyed at the idea that he is waiting for this girl coz he has never had a gf b4.
mmm…but thing is…i stopped liking him as a ‘more than just a friends’ about early last year. and yeah, im just annoyed that he never asked me out. it sounds soo stupid but i dont care if he doesnt like me or not - its the fact - that he never asked me!!(yes, prob sounds like im quite selfish) … (o dear, i prob sound really bitchy at this point) and the fact that he was like one of the better dudes who ever liked me back. o dear, i do sound really lonely…
btw - just to clear up - i wasnt asking him to go out with me or anything, although he interpreted it as that. (thats, why it ended so badly)

Your think? I was so shy I sometimes couldn’t even reply if spoken to…I was extremely shy even into my twenties.
I don’t believe that God created people to be shy, but to be part of community, part of human family.

Aspects of upbringing and how cherished one feels from infancy, how carefully our parents have helped us to cultivate a healthy sel-image, and how well we cultivate our own self-image, all impacts on whether or not we are fearful and shy. Shy people generally have difficulties with self-image in relation to others.

I’m very different now. I’m very warm and friendly and have numerous friendships. Yes, people can change, Outcast.

Alan turning forty in April feels like he’’ never get married. Please give him a prayer!

Just as the thread title says. Also, some married people now, did you have such thoughts when you were younger. I do not mean this in a way such as a vocation regarding celibacy, but rather that they won’t ever find someone and doomed to live a single life.

Of course this depends on whether you feel the ‘single life’ is ‘doom’ - Personally, for me, I do.
I would not call it doomed. I have chosen the single life for various reasons and I am happier for it.

WORST ADVICE EVER!

It is the MALE’s role to PURSUE. All talk like this does is push a male back into his shell, and may undo any progress made in overcoming shyness or developing social skills.

And then you have Sierrah posting about men waiting too long:
Well if you want to get technical a lot of the 50s plus guys that show interest just want a nurse or baby machine. A guy in his 50s who suddenly says “hey wait…now I want a family” that’s scary, sad and a little too late in life.
Well, duh, of course they waited until their fifties - because they swallowed this bad advice given under “color of religion”!

These are the mind games singles faced by singles today.

Come on people, ONE OR THE OTHER!

YOU CAN’T HAVE IT BOTH WAYS!!!
