We might begin to understand how terrible it was when the 40 innocents who were slaughtered by Herod’s men searching for the babe Jesus. Or all the families martyred in the Roman forum. Or Christians who were led off into the mines. Or the Jews and the holocaust. Lots of wonderfully good people in every century, every generation, every nation, who suffer for Justice or Jesus or just because they live in a world polluted with evil.i really have a hard time with a God that allows such horrible evil and suffering like that.

To be honest I used to be blame God whenever bad things happen. However it dawned on me that I wasn’t being fair. I cannot blame God when people decide to ignore his laws and commands.i really have a hard time with a God that allows such horrible evil and suffering like that.

I think that that is a good sign, itulian. May there never come a day in which we find it easy overlook or brush-off the horrors in the world. May God bless us all with the strength to stand against them and witness to different possibilities, to His greater glory. Amen.

How true and unfortunate. Good answer. In my days of youth we did not have this, but then we prayed in school.
I was at a meeting last year of our Catholic book club when this topic was brought up. We had just read a book on God winks. One of the members daughter died at the age of 12 after a couple of years of painful treatments to save her life. We discussed why God would wink at us about a job offer and then totally ignore us when our innocent child liesdying. We all pretty much walked away with the same idea. God doesn’t play us like chess pieces. He’s not intertwined in our everyday lives granting our petitions like a fairy God father. We all agreed that he does not bring tragedy and he does not bring good fortune. We also agreed that miracles are rare, very rare. Maybe that’s why the bar is set so high when attributing miracles to candidates for sainthood.i really have a hard time with a God that allows such horrible evil and suffering like that.

God did. Remember Adam? We’re left with his ashes. At this stage in our world, I’m beginning to feel more sorry for God than for us. He is taking a beating he dosen’t deserve.
Yes and no. Yes, because humans choose sin over love. No, because humans are free to choose love instead.
No. To presume He should, suggests that He didn’t get it right from the beginning, which cannot be, as God cannot err.

DId you hear the interveiw with the priest who said most of the school familes were his parishioners? So I guess you’re saying that these kids died because their parents couldn’t afford to send them to Catholic school. Or maybe they died because these kindergartners didn’t pray hard enough at church or at home to make up for all the praying they missed at school.
