I wish he showed the same compassion for victims of pedophile priests that he shows for migrants and refugees.

I know such a victim. The local church, after decades of denying his claims and harassing him, he no longer considers them the church but a demonic organization who preys on innocents and destroys their lives and souls.

From what I read, so do the Chileans.

I have not read any articles about what the people in Chile are saying about this incident, but isn’t the Vatican sending a sex abuse team to Chile now to investigate? Praying for the truth to be revealed!

I trust Pope Francis. I’m sure the necessary steps are being taken to resolve any valid accusations. We do not know everything that is going on.

That’s understandable. I can’t even imagine what these victims have been through.

This is true, though it is highly likely that this came about only because there was such outrage about the comments Pope Francis made about the victims being “slanderers”. Had this never happened I doubt the Vatican would be investigating in Chile. As of now it looks like nothing more than damage control for the bad PR that the Pope is getting due to his comments, but perhaps something good will come of it and the truth will be revealed. Praying for a positive resolution for the victims.

I agree with your conclusion. It is good an investigation is being done in the end and I hope it will be a fair investigation.

I don’t mean this in a harsh or attacking way, but I think at this point it’s safe to say that Francis is a failed Pope.

His Papacy began with very high expectations, but all he’s done is drag the Church down by causing unnecessary tensions between “Liberal” and “Conservative” Catholics over his often vague statements and poorly put together encyclicals in which he’s attempted to do little to actually explain.

On top of that, he’s handled sex abuse in the Church very poorly, and that’s never been more clearly showcased until all of this started coming out.

Sad, very very sad.

Here is the Pope’s explanation about ‘proof’ and ‘evidence’. Very, very confusing and hard to explain. I can’t think of anything that could reconcile what the Pope says with his apparent knowledge of specific allegations untested by any formal investigation. Now we have a formal investigation the outcome will point to guilty, don’t know, or not guilty. The first two will make it look like the Pope was seriously wrong in his assessment or faith in Vatican processes, or both. The last, based on the Pope’s statement before appointing the investigator, will look like a cover-up.

He’s doing just fine. The world is a mess and he has many things on his plate. People have to get over themselves! You’re not the Pope and have only a minute idea of what’s really going on.

“O ye, of little faith!” It does no good to constantly criticize and judge the Holy Father. Seriously, what good does it do? You have two choices: stick around and have faith in God or leave the Church. It’s not a Democracy. 🤨

Catholics can have opinions on the Pope, and the Pope isn’t perfect. There have been various times in the past where faithful Catholics have been critical of the Pope.
You’re not the Pope and have only a minute idea of what’s really going on.
And you’re in the same position, so why does your opinion make you more faithful than me?

Stop blinding yourself to the obvious problems there are. You’re just another typical Modernist.

Sure everyone can have an opinion. He’s not perfect and neither are you. However, needless bellyaching and worrying is not constructive.

The difference between us is that I don’t criticize the Pope and treat it as a badge of honor. At the very least, you should be praying and having Masses said for the Holy Father.

We have more problems assaulting the Barque of St. Peter externally than internally. Become part of the solution or contribute to the problem! I’m no modernist and your claim is bogus. I have FAITH. Something you must put into practice.

You clearly are a Modernist with no real sense of direction. People like you don’t actually want to solve the problems, you want to pretend that everything is ok and let the world pass by while letting corrupt men continually hurt the Church.
Personal insults have never helped “solve the problems.”

It’s not an insult, it’s the truth. It’s no more an insult than pronouncing a formal heretic a heretic.
Nice attempt at justifying your rudeness, but it doesn’t wash. Just because someone disagrees with you doesn’t make them any less Catholic, or a “modernist,” or any other nonsense you want to throw around.

Matthew 16:18

“And I tell you that you are Peter, and on this rock I will build my church, and the gates of Hell will not overcome it.”

Padre Pio

“Pray, hope, and don’t worry. Worry is useless. God is merciful and will hear your prayer.”

Matthew 6:27

“Can any one of you by worrying add a single hour to your life?”

I’m not a Modernist and I reject your notion. I’m looking at the big picture and not fretting over minor bumps in the road. God has a plan and he is guiding the Church to that End.

“But when Cephas came to Antioch, I opposed him to his face, because he stood condemned.” - Galatians 2:11

“For there is nothing hidden that will not be disclosed, and nothing concealed that will not be known or brought out into the open.” - Luke 8:17

Again, you’re ignoring the problems. I hope and pray that the next Pope solves these problems created by the current one, and I do genuinely think that will happen. But right now, Pope Francis has failed in his duty. It’s unfortunate Modernist like you cannot see that.

You’re just uncomfortable with debating different points of view. It’s sad to see you resorting to name calling. Very sad. I hope you find some peace. You sound most distressed 😟

Don’t worry. 😉 I’m perfectly content attending my Ordinary Form Mass and leaving the Politics in Rome. If the entire Church imploded and there was a persecution I still wouldn’t care. We’ll survive and continue receiving the Sacraments. Everything else is quite trivial.

It’s not an insult, it’s the truth. It’s no more an insult than pronouncing a formal heretic a heretic.
And who authorized you to pronounce anyone a heretic, or issue fatwas on who’s a “Modernist”? Are you a member of the CDF?
